Best Truck I've owned

I used to own trucks but moved on to SUVs back in 2000 with kids, wife, dogs etc in the picture. I found myself needing another truck. I bought a used 2004 F350 King Ranch Crew Cab with the 6.0 Power Stroke with 116k miles on it from a corner lot. I was thinking I'd use it for a few years and then move on. This thing drove like new when I got behind the wheel. It had been used for towing a 5th wheel by its previous owner (has all the hardware). I like it so much that that I've started to invest money into correcting a few issues that come with buying a (at the time I bought it } 15 year old vehicle. Things like dings and scrapes, sun damaged exterior plastic and sticking hubs. I'm planning on keeping it. The truck is factory stock with out any modifications - not even wheels. I'll probably go ahead and stud the engine and add the external oil cooler, and coolant filter to extend its life since I'm keeping it.

Has been a good truck for me.

My 2004 with the 6 l diesel had plenty of power have not had any problems with it and I use it for towing a camper and a pontoon both of which are 23 24 ft long . When or if the head gaskets go on mine I priced it out it will be around $5,000 to who do the head gaskets and new head bolts. I do regular maintenance on my vehicles and they last and run good. To the guy that thinks all Ford diesels are crap you're wrong. The Duramax has its problems also so don't be fooled by what one person says. When I'm not pulling anything with mine I get around 19 to 23 miles to the gallon religiously I couldn't believe it either but whenever my wife done all the math we had a long trip she figured it was 22 miles to the gallon which I think is pretty good for a 1 ton truck with a 6 liter diesel. I also have a friend that has one he has a Harley-Davidson edition with a 6 l is it is a f250 is has been running great to. it's all in how you take care of your vehicle you take care of your vehicle your vehicle usually takes care of you I do regular maintenance regular oil changes fluid changes haven't had any problems I run full synthetic throughout everything both front and rear diff the tranny transfer case engine full synthetic.

Great truck once you bullet proof it

This truck has served me well for 15 years. I had to add the EGR cooler and Arps head bolt kit. I don't regret spending the money and keeping the truck. The 6.0 gets great mileage for a one ton and has a lot of energy.Nice sturdy steel truck.

Biggest xxx I have ever owned.

Poor engine design cost $7000 to repair a manufacturers defect that ford should have paid for since they won the law suit against international trucks. Another $5000 for 8 injectors and a fuel pump. Don't buy any ford diesels they are crap.

8 years of awesome service.

This has been a great truck. The 6 liter power stroke has be nothing less than awesome. I did require a few aftermarket upgrades. But nothing too serious. Pulls and hauls with great ease. Very comfortable on long trips. Fun to drive. I do wish it had some modern tech in it. But it doesn?t need it to preform the job I have it for. I have added some tech that does what the new stuff does. It just don?t work from the steering controls. I think I can live. All I can say is. I?ve had it for 8 years and I still enjoy it just as much as the day I bought it. Best of all. No DEF fluid and regeneration cycle. Love it love it. Love it!!!

Good truck, but very particular

I had a King Ranch crew cab. Lots of interior room, and pulled my 9000 pound camper without any issues. All the heartaches associated with this series of diesel truck never happened to me. My truck was kept stock. I did have to replace the radiator, trans temp sensor, and the overhead console circuit board. I sold this truck because it was very expensive to maintain. An oil change was about two hundred bucks, if I did the work with quality oil and motorcraft filters. Of course every other oil change needed another 50 dollars worth of fuel filters. You had to replace them with motorcraft filters only, other aftermarket filters fail within 500 miles or so. Air cleaners are about 100 bucks as well. I loved the truck, had it for several years. The older it got the more maintenance it needed, and the more expensive it was to keep. Sold with 134K miles.
