Ford didn't have a better idea this time
I've had my 2012 Focus Transmission reprogrammed twice and its still herky jerky when going up a slight incline, it jerks when going in reverse. I use to get almost 28 mpg in the city, after the reprogramming I'm down to 23 mpg. You get the same answer from you local service people as corporate Ford, they tell you its a manual transmission. Well guess what my sticker says 6 speed automatic transmission, and an automatic transmission has a torque converter this trans don't therefore yes it is a manual trans. This should be a class action law suit already. Stay away from this car that rides like a 60's taxi cab. Its embarrassing to give somebody a ride. Hey guess what I was talking to another Focus owner and her's is a 2013 and it also does the herky jerky dance. Buyer BEWARE

2nd Focus
I am a long commuter. 165 miles a day. Just bought my second Ford Focus. This one was a CPO. Already getting 40 mpg (5 speed). Comfortable and low cost. I compared to Hybrids and another ten grand will buy a lot of gas. VERY reliable cars. Love, love, love the 'poor man's Prius"! BTW, my 2008 Focus has 190,000 miles on it and my son loves it!

Great little car
I purchased this car for my wife we both love the gas millage and the looks. It dosent handle to bad but a manual shift would have been better than the automatic. The automatic is ok but a manual would have been best. We still love it. Wouldnt mind having an ST.

Not a Honda Accord
We originally desired a Honda Accord but there was ZERO room in the eyes of the Traverse City Dealership to budge in price or amenities. It also isn't that the Ford Dealership in Cadillac gave us such a wonderful deal... they didn't because there was a significant rebate "to them" that brought the price back up to its original sticker, but it was out the door. I suspect it was pure comfort that sealed the deal with the Focus

Excellent Vehicle
I'm enjoying this auto, great gas mileage and a lot of PEP. I have received good service from the dealer, Woody Anderson of Madison, Alabama, Salesman, Joe Mullins and Manager, Patrice Simmons.. This is the third vehicle I've bought from this Dealer. G. Boyce Bazzell (Bazz)

Great car
Great car for the price. You get performance and good gas mileage. Lots of features on the SEL model. It goes from 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds and still gives me an average of 32 mpg. It handles great hugs the corners.

Handles awesome , but that's about it.
2012 sonic blue focus SE with moon roof , 4 wheel disc brakes and the manual shift thumb button . bought in oct of 2011 , had it just over a year now and it's at 39k miles. I drive appx 175 miles roundtrip to work and back. 90%highway. I get 31.1 mpg now , took forever to get there and I occasionally lose a tenth and have to drive 55 or lower for two days to get that tenth back. I have absolutely no idea how anyone could reach the 40mpg they say it gets highway , i drive the PA turnpike northeast ext in cruise control at 65 , thats slow , i should be getting the best gas mileage this thing has to offer no? Had two recalls taken care of early , windsheild wiper and the low gear roll back and horrible clunkiness at road construction traffic speeds. stop and go was impossible. The original clunkiness did go away , but it still was clunky all over and at inconsistant times, it is the worst transmission I've ever witnessed. Its still bumpy , undecisive, and unable to do anything fast. first and second gear may get you killed pulling out of anywhere , it's the slowest 160hp on planet earth. Engine sounds horrible within a month of owning. car continues to accelerate for 2 seconds after you take your foot off the gas and doesn't accelerate for about 2 seconds when you press the pedal down to go , no matter how far you tromp on it. Red lines easy and not much output. the thumb shift is a little better then the automatic , but still encounters the same lag on take off and over gas when letting off. had to give the car to the dealer three times for a week per time, for a radiator problem they kept fixing , first it was a hose, then they didn't bleed it right , now they just put a new radiator in last night , said it wasn't covered under warranty but they would give it to me under good faith because they couldn't fix it the first two times. Now the engine life is shot cuz the thing overheated like 30 times or more during this constand draining of fluid , had no interior heat either and lemon law doesn't cover it. pros, The absolute best part of this car is , it handles amazingly ! i love the interior , minus a few odd noises and it looks pretty good exteriorly,... it was too expensive , terrible engine and trans, lies on the gas mileage, and now i'm stuck with it cuz of my mileage and the worst warranty in the business is already over. this car is going to cost me a fortune in the long run i fear now. At least its decent on gas to save me money to repair it with LOL yeah , long story short , and i could go on , i'm totally disappointed with this car minus the looks of it , the handling and the interior. so it's awesome in park LOL. I am truely upset that I own and am stuck with this car. I think the lemon law should include this but it doesn't. too many miles and just over a year old now. I would not recommend anyone buying a ford focus. I look at other drivers of them as we pass and see sad faces lol

eh
I recently traded my focus sel for a 2012 mustang premium. Ford is redesigning cars, and the new technology is sad right now. Had my ford touch, and it was sad till they did the recent update. Always reprogramed itself, after upgrade that stopped. But, it doesn't understand what names I say to call as well as it did before. Gas mileage is so so, gets 38-41 on flat roads if you rarely stop. If you drive 60 highway-40 city you'll get 28 if lucky (suppose to get 33). I will miss the car, and liked the sound system, but the main reason I got rid of it was the fact it depreciated bad. i don't know if it's because it's a huge fleet vehicle, or the first of the new generation. Also, the 2013 titanium loaded with more options is starting at $24k, which is what I paid. Lastly, i had the car 6 months and drove 9k miles, and the value went from $24k new to $13.8k used. This made me mad, hyundais trade in retail is way higher, which I was originally gonna go with. I'm hoping I'm happy with my mustang for years, for previously I'd own Pontiac Grand Prixs for 5to6 years each before switching to ford.

like the car
I bought my Focus SE last July and it's been a good car. I haven't had any of the problems that are talked about here other than the strange transmission shifting. The transmission has a rough shift on take off but I'm sure Ford is going to have a fix for it in the future. Other than that it's a comfortable car with plenty of room. I'm 6'1" and I fit just fine. This is my second Focus. I bought a 2001 new and put 180,000 on it and had very little problems with it. I sold it to a friend and he's driving it and very happy with it. I'm getting 32 miles to a gallon combined city and highway which is better than my smaller 2001.
