Topless Fun!

Got my 5-speed, 2003 GT Convertible used with 34,000 miles and in mint condition about 6 months ago. This is not a daily driver as the rear seat is useless even for my two (large) dogs. However the car is awesome for those nice weekends when the sun is shining and you can ride with the top down in the hill country. The sound of the engine is awesome and it is hard not to press hard on the pedal just to hear it growl and feel pushed back into the drivers seat. This car has the cobra shining wheels and is True Blue with parchment top and tan leather so it is anything but ordinary. Car is also great for a night out in town or to pick up your date. I wish it was a little faster as my daily driver is a VW GTI 1.8 Turbo and frankly the acceleration difference is hardly noticeable. Also, the GTI handles a lot better (steadier) in tight fast curves. Still, this is a fun, fast, powerful, good looking car and I am glad I found one in such good conditions!

Ha ha ha....where theres smoke theres fire!

The Legend or Pandoras Box? I have owned my 2003 Mustang GT, manual transmission for a year and half. Bought it used with 26 k in mint condition back in 2006. This car was my dream car. Fun, Styling, and mind blowing Fast!!!!-blowing any suped up honda or passat out of the water. It also has the features and characteristics of the original legend, with a scoop hood, side scoops, and of coarse all the fixins of hot muscle car. Its a hot car and fun on a hot summer day. BUT...................You combine Ice, Rain, tempatures below 32 degrees and this car as a daily driver and you have a recipie for disaster. This car slides and fish tails going just above 15 mph in snow. It hydroplanes easily. The motor weighs the front down well however the high performance engine sets an off balance to the rear being so light, and since the vehicle is RWD, the power to the back tires spin the car not forward----IN CIRCLES!!!!!!!!! thus when the accelator is lightly pressed! You get no where fast Oh yeah the maintence and work..... My father has been working on my car for the past four hours, helping daddys little girl to be safe...ME! Ever since I hit over 50k on it, I have had maintenence problems. My dad said the calipers/cylanders are crud! They are cheap and replacing the brakes for me turned from a favor into a Major Task. The calipers froze and as he tried to spread them open to fit over the new brake pads, it cracked! Since he couldn't press them out with the tools without them cheaply breaking, my Stang will be towed to a shop in the morning for BIG BUCKS!!!! Also I just replaced my tirods not even a full week ago, again just above 50 k, this is not right!!!!!????? I just feel bad for my dad who worked all night on the car...Ford better get their act together before I ever set my sights on purchasing a current 2008 model GT when I can afford one...or forget it!

Fast, fun and reliable

I bought this car new and only took it into the dealer once for the seatbelt tensioner to be replaced. Very reliable and inexpensive to maintain. The 4.6 liter V-8 gets good highway milage (24 MPG) but it is thirsty around town. The ride is a bit harsh, and can get loud at higher speeds, but that is to be expected in a car which will do 0-60 in less than 6 seconds. This car is a blast to drive and still looks good.

Convertable GT

Overall, I likw the car. I have a 99 GT that seemed to have a bit more get up and go, May be the fact this 03 Is a convertable, but i have not seen that much of a difference between hard top and convertable before. Interior Seems a bit cheap in some places, but generally, very pleasent. Traction is a vast improvement from my 99 for some reason. I gave its handling a 4 because it really is good, though If you put a little too much force in it it is very capable of swinging out its rear, so be weary If you have no experience in these cars. Its a blast to drive but is fast and needs to be respected. I would defenitly take one for a spin if your remotely intrested. They're a great value in price vs performance. Everycar has its ticks, so dont be discouraged if you dont like the particular one you tested....try another. Theres very few cars that have the rep of a mustang, some cars may be more powerful, etc, But everyone knows a Mustang, They've been around forever, and just get better as the years go on.

Engine is bulletproof

The Mustang definitely has the looks, but unlike most cars, it has the brawn to back it up. And despite slightly cramped quarter, it is a very comfortable ride. But the best part is the engine. It runs smoother than most others out there. It idles so well, you wouldnt think it was on, and it drives so well you would think you were coasting.

Beware of the Cobra!

This Cobra is amazing. Its a hard to find combination. Ford only produced 955 Redfire cobras this year out of which only 610 were convertibles. I don't know how many of those had the special SVT package that includes the Cobra logo in the front instead of the mustang logo but I haven't seen very many of those around. The other reason this Cobra is a great collector's item is that starting in 2006 Ford has dropped the SVT badging. Which means this may be your last chance to get your hands on a great SVT badged Cobra. I read a recent review on the latest GT500 (Cobra's replacement) and even though it has more HP it still does the 0 - 60 in 4.5 seconds. Why spend close to 50K for a car that doesn't move any faster than this one. Plus I think 2003/2004 Cobra is the best looking cobra ever! Considering this is a RW drive car, it hadles amazingly and it's V-8 sounds great.
