Excellent choice!!
I reviewed many vehicles prior to buying this one and I think I made a great choice. This car is reliable, comfortable, has lots of room but still small enough to get ok gas mileage. Very happy with my choice!

Gas Mileage
Purchased a 4 cylinder front wheel drive which GMC said would get 32 MPG. Lucky to get 26. Letter back from GMC said to take to dealer for a checkup. Dealer said to drive 55 MPH to get better mileage. GMC not not being honest about MPG.

was looking for a suv with comfort and interior space and this was the best choice for the money . the feature are good for std. equipment and can't find on others unless you upgrade. the ride is smooth and no cabin noise which is a plus since mine has the pioneer sound system. mpg is ok but hope to get better 29mpg highway.

Great Vehicle
We've had our FWD, 4cyl Terrain SLT 1 for almost two years and have about 27,000 problem free miles on it. Very pleased with comfort, handling, etc. The back seat slides back giving it a lot of room. Mileage was quite dissapointing at first but has been much better this summer. My best tank was 33 mpg of mostly hwy driving at around 60 mph figured out manually. My digital read-out consistently underestimates mileage by between 6 and 10 percent. Fuel economy varies considerably with driver habits and speed. I typically get 24 or 25 mpg at 70 mph but the readout can say over 40 mpg at 50 mpg. This is true with any vehicle. My wife won't have another SUV without the automatic liftgate. I really like the way it handles around corners. It doesn't feel like an SUV. Not much power for towing but we knew that when we bought it. Overall quite happy and feel like we got the space and utility of an SUV with the mileage of some cars.

Maintenance Queen
Get ready to change your oil every 4000 miles, expensive oil too (V6, 3.0 L). This engine works hard without performance output. The GM high feature engines are costly to fix and in this case, doesn't provide any value. The transmission is really odd too. I would rather have a four speed automatic if not a manual. It drives like a minivan, but is sure footed in the snow. The interior is also nice. Overall, kind of uninspiring. If you drive it nice...you can get about 23 mpg.

engine rattle
Owned the Terrain for about a year and have put 19k miles on it. Have taken it back to the dealer for the 4th time to due to a loud rattle noise when you crank the car up.To this day I'm still having the issue and the dealership has changed the cam accuators, timing chain and oil pump. The dealership states theres a bulletin that tells them to try diesel oil instead of synthetic like the manual calls for. The GM rep told me I need to take it to a professional mechanic... This is a GM dealership with GM mechanics! If they can't fix their own vehicles then why have mechanics there? And why sale me an extended warranty if you can't fix it! So, before you think about purchasing a Terrain with the 4 cyl motor look at the reviews regarding engine rattle & loud startup noise. Also, review the fuel mileage because it doesn't get what the sticker states!

Good car for growing family
The terrain is a good suv for the money. Don't hope to get 31 mpg like advertised. Ours gets between 24and 27 with the 4 cylinder engine. If I would have known this before I would have bought a v6. But hey what can u expect from car companies they say what they have to to get u to buy it. But a good car and we are pleased with it.

Gas efficiency
This car is great except the gas efficiency. IT does not get 32 highway and 22 city. They make it sound like it is so gas efficient and it is a gas hog. I have the 4 cylinder as well so I should get better. Inside is roomy though.

Could be great
I I've had my 2011 for a year and have over 24,ooo miles on it, Over all I like the vechile. But I live on gravel and I'm starting to notice lots of rattles. The back window really needs a wind deflector, to keep the dirt off. The back up camera is a problem when it rains and gets dirty easily. This vechile really needs dual air controls and an automatic rear door opener. I have arthritis in my hands and it's hard to open, besides being dirty from the gravel roads I live on. I've yet to get the mileage quoted but I'm getting 28 plus on most of my over the road driving with the 4 cyl. Really makes a difference if the wind is behind or hitting you in the front. Really wish it came in a real color like red, sick to death of the colors the auto industry has decided we like. I want a true red, something that doesn't blend into the road and can be seen at a distance.

a great vehicle
I recently traded in my 2009 G6 covertible for the 2011 GMC Terrain, and though there are things I miss about the G6, I have no doubt I made the right decision. Oh sure, the G6 was sportier and a much cooler car to drive. It had lots of pep and it was just a fun car, but sometimes practicality is a much more important factor. The ride in the Terrain is tremendous. It's tight, rattle free, and just a very comfortable vehicle. It's nice to sit up high with a much better view of the road. I bought the 4 cylinder model, and as of yet I am not getting the mileage as advertised, but I'm hoping to see an improvement as the car is broken in (do cars still need to be broken in?). The styling is exceptional for an SUV crossover. Plenty of room in the back seat (I wish they had put some AC vents back there) and the radio/CD player is superb. You dont get an over abundant amount of space until you put the back seats down, but much more than I had in my G6 with the top down! Overall, I am very pleased with the Terrain. I had toyed with the idea of purchasing one last year, but went with the Buick LaCrosse CXL. Trust me, this vehicle's ride rivals that of my Buick.
