Incredibly reliable car

Despite being small, which is probably only disadvantage of this car, it's great. It's very reliable and strong. It seems to survive everything. The fact there are thousands of civics out there is another prove of how good it is. Quality and durable car. If you want cheap, fuel-efficient car Honda Civic would be the best option there is.

17 Years Old And Running Strong

The 1997 Honda Civic is a truly wonderful car. I bought the car in 2016 at 192,231 miles for $850. The previous owners did bare minimum in maintenance, and for being a New York car, it was surprisingly clean minus the rust over the rear wheels. Now, for an $850 car, I was expecting to make it a few months until I got something better. Let me just say this car went above and beyond. Parts are cheap for it, and its relatively easy to work on. I took the car to Virginia and back (putting roughly 1700 miles on it while doing so). Gas mileage was fantastic, $22 dollars to fill my tank from 1/4 tank. I'm a big man, so when I say this car was surprisingly comfortable for being a small car, believe me. Its got quite a bit of power for a 4 cylinder engine, I don't have any issues at all getting where I need to go. The down side is that the brake lines and gas lines on these cars rust easily, due to some design flaws. So if you buy one of these cars, make sure you get under there and check it out.

squeeze

this was my main squeeze for 6 years. there isn't a thing i had on it that was OEM besides my accessories. i love this car, it's beautiful lines, the mixing and matching that was possible from other cars, how it's considered the underdog, yet i was beating every car that wanted a race. the only thing i hated was the a/c sucks in these cars. doesn't blow hard enough and in Florida we need that!

Best car I have ever owned!

This car is over 20 years old and still going strong. I had purchased a new car because this one is getting old and I drive a good 35 miles to work and back every day so I felt it would be better to use this one in town. My husband was driving it until recently when the new car was damaged in a wreck and I had to have alternative transportation. This car does not have all the bells and whistles that the new cars have but it is still going strong and I would not trade it at the moment for anything! We have had it for the entire 20 years and have had it serviced primarily at the Honda dealership. They do a great job and it is apparent since this one is 20 years old.

Just keeps rolling

I have literally driven across the United States of America three times in a 1997 Honda Civic CX, and have never had trouble. The car is superbly reliable. The basic maintenance has rewarded me with nearly 250,000 miles, and not always easy miles. There is sufficient horsepower to accelerate and pass, cautiously, in both the Applachian and Rocky mountains. Being easy on the acceleration and braking yields 32 to 36 miles per gallon on the highway, and around 25 miles per gallon in the city. The 2 door hatchback has seen 5 people, or 2 people and everything going to college (packed well). This is everything you would want, but not luxurious. The car has taken the heat of Las Vegas, where the air conditioning held strong. And the car has seen the chill of Minnesota and Michigan, where the window defroster works well. I have plowed through 2 feet of virgin snow with snow going over the hood and car, but the front wheel drive pulled me a half mile to where the plow truck had been at work. The car has been down rough 2 tracks, and kept footing like a mule. If you cannot tell, I am a fan!

Easy to work on, easy to drive, a reliable car!

This was our first car that we bought used. Over almost 10 years of owning the car I was able to replace many of the parts myself, drive it on many road trips, and go on great adventures with this efficient, lightweight car!
