100% better than GM cars I owned in the past.

Paid $10k for a used 2003 Civic Lx back in 2007. It's the best car I,ve owned in 40+ years of driving.

Honda Civic update

Nice runaround car but it lacks engine guts. I even have a stick and you really have to be careful pulling out in traffic. Also the 2003 model needs a transmission job on the manuel shift which we did after buying a used model $1400 ouch! But it gets 30-35 city and 38-40 hwy. My next car is going to be the new 2013 Nissan 2.0 with 27city and 37 hwy and drive a bigger car, automatic, and look goood! Good luck, talk them down unless it has the trans job done already.

Honda Civic Coupe 2003 okay, but can be tricky

This is a great car. I like the 5-speed and it gets very good gas mileage. However we had to replace the engine just after we bought it (used). The previous owner apparently used the wrong kind of oil or something else happened which blocked the small channels used to circulate the oil through the engine. As a result, it burned oil like you wouldn't believe. The Honda Dealership said it was too expensive to repair and recommended replacing the engine, whcih we did. It runs fine now; However I would note that this is a potential trouble spot for that engine. We also replaced the muffler. Car has a timing belt rather than a chain. These must be replaced at about 100,000 miles. If it fails, the whole engine will be ruined. Serious risk. Newer models have a chain instead -- more reliable.

Great commuter car

Bought the used civic for commuting. The car is very comfortable to drive considering my commute is 190 miles per day. I've been happy with the mileage. I aveage about 36-38 mpg traveling about 70-75mph. I did manage to a 40.5 mpg round trip, but it was too slow for my taste. Some quirky design decisions on the interior. Example, cigarette lighter is by cup holder, so while phone charger is plugged in, only one space for a beverage. Overall, i've been have been happy with it for the few months of ownership

Fantastic car

Over all,gas mileage, reliability, and simplicity, this is the best car you can get!The car is built to perform well for many miles. The only thing you have to do to this car is add gas and do a oil change every 3000 miles.

My first car.

I'm out of words to say. Im only 17 and i love this car. You may not win street races but it keeps you from going to the gas station 3 or 4 times a week, So far i have no problems. The only thing i have a problem with is my maint censor. But it still runs great, When i bought it, there were 94,000 miles on it and now it has 111,000 miles. Its a great car to have if you take car of it. So if you looking for a gas saver and a car that wont give you problems this would be a good choice
