I'll NEVER buy anything but a CRV
My wife, family & I owned many & we all sware by them. Years 2000 to 2007. Great gas mileage for a 4x4 & great size. Terrific in snow, ice & handles VERY well in bad weather skidding etc. No car is perfect but many will argue that for the money, the Honda CRV comes close. I rarely heard of any problems, if any I doubt they got proper care as they did not get such great ratings for NO reason. The CRV halls just about anything, good distance traveler, VERY reliable, pulls our larger boat. We have always bought used ones & did very well for years after. Great resale value due to their high reputation.

BEST SUV EVER BUILT!! HANDS DOWN
I've had mine for over 10 years now, (2000 model)nearly 250,000 miles with only a sniff of repairs, just normal stuff but VERY minor. Totally reliable, comfortable, great size..RAVE too small, others too big gas guzzlers. I have friends & family own CR-Vs & none of us will part with them. GREAT STORAGE & GREAT FOR CAMPING & TRAVELING!! Only complaint...back opens sideways-but no big deal

Best "did everything well" car I've owned
Perfect size, great mileage for an SUV, made a wonderful family car as well as a work horse when needed, long distance traveler, great in snow/ice & the list goes on. I've owned it twice as long as any car in my life (I'm 56) 8 years & she is doing as good as her first day. I have never had some issues that others have comlained about as these cars have super high resale for a reason.

do I have 2 lemons?
Has anyone else had as many problems with CR-Vs? We have 2 Honda 2000 CR-Vs and both have cost us a lot of money in repairs, a lot more than the average maintenance. Listen to this: For the first CR-V: In addition to the ordinary repairs for brakes, timing belt, etc., we have had to replace clutches, the ignition lock assembly broke, and now the rear differential is gone. This vehicle has 92,000 miles. The other vehicle has 114,000 miles but: has had a weak A/C since 60,000 miles (too expensive to repair), needed expensive repairs such as: valve cover gasket,"canister and valve","valve set and valve", water pump, 2 thermostat replacements, and replaced radiator. We can no longer afford the upkeep for these 2 cars. Very disapointed!

All good except one big thing
Reliable, cheap to own, utilitarian, Honda, durable interior, easy to maintain, it's all good *except* the A/C compressor self-destructed at about 100K miles. It disintegrated so thoroughly that the vehicle wouldn't even start; that seems like an odd engineering decision, but once the A/C belt was removed it started just fine. A Honda dealership in Orlando quoted me 3 thousand dollars to fix the A/C system. They wanted to replace everything in the system. That was 3 years ago and I'm still driving it with no A/C and doing just fine. Other than that, I've had only 2 minor problems. The dash clock failed very early on and about once a year or so it lights up for a few miles. The heater core leaks a tiny bit and the interior stinks of anti freeze for a few moments when the HVAC knob is on some settings. It's annoying and I could probably fix it with a new heater core, but I haven't looked into it.

Great vehicle!
Got this car in 2005 with 60,000 miles on it. I now have 137,000 on it and it's going strong - have replaced the timing belt and a power streering pump and that's it.

Dependable
I bought this car used with only 17,000 miles on it. Since then I've managed to rack up 183,000. It still runs great. It's only been in the shop once and it was covered under the warranty. Other than that it's been oil changes and one set of belt replacements. It has plenty of cargo space for our family of four. I don't understand why there is no armrest on the passenger seat in the front. That's just ridiculous. It's not the most comfortable ride in the world, but you can't beat the gas mileage. The only other thing I can say is I wish they would do something about the road noise. I don't notice it anymore, but when someone is riding with me for the first time it's always their first comment. It's loud. I've loved my little blue SUV, and I'll be sad to see it gone at the end of the month. I'm selling it to a recent college grad just starting out that just needs a dependable vehicle. I hope she gets another 200,000 miles out of it. :)

Great Vehicle
Bought the '00 CR-V as a daily driver. I was very impressed with it overall. Performance in acceleration and maintaining speeds 80mph and above require a lot of effort from the motor. This is one of the most dependable SUV out there with 100,000 miles and above ... they drive like they are new when properly maintained. Very easy vehicle to drive and much safer than the Civic I had prior to this.

Extremely reliable and the space is very handy.
I bought this car new in 2000 and it has only needed routine maintenance. Sometimes I wish for a little more interior comfort, but the reliability is the most important feature to me: And I still love the way it looks. It handles well, holds a lot of things if I need space, and I hope to drive it for a very long time (only have 56,500 on it after 8 years). I didn't know until reading another comment on this site that the A/C might cause a problem around100,000 which is good to know. I live in AZ and that would not be a good thing to happen.

It's been a good car
I bought this car used and it's been really good. I have about 120k miles on it now and it basically runs the same as it did the day I bought it with 46K miles. I fully expect to get 200K out of it. I have a persistent brake squeak but I think that has more to do with the people who installed them than the car. The 2000 is 2 body styles old now, but I still think it's pretty cute. The AWD is fantastic in bad weather or on gravel. I would highly recommend this car to anyone. It isn't super comfortable or luxurious, but it really wasn't meant to be. The interior is pretty bare bones and the radio gets bad reception. My AC went out at about 100K which is common, I've heard, but my extended warranty covered it. Over-all the car is extremely dependable and runs super well. Its xxxxxxdefinitely out weight its cons. Though next time I shop for a car I might look into a Toyota instead because the interiors are much more comfy and they don't seem to make as much road noise.
