Great car! Super safe and fun to drive.
This car was a perfect first car for our teens. It was small enough to get around town easily, yet big enough to carry their sports gear, band gear, and a friend or two.

Strange Mix of Characteristics
I've owned numerous SUVs over the years (10+) and this is my second CR-V. Ignoring the full sized and other varieties (Jeeps, Suzukis, Broncos and Blazers, and Suburbans), I compare it more to several Subarus and my '98 CR-V. The Subarus had superior AWD performance, handled GREAT, and were actually a lot of fun to drive (1979 through 2003) and felt bulletproof and were SO easy to work on (easy accessibility of parts), and had great torque and smoothness. The '98 CR-V was innovative (walk-thru center isle, flat cargo w/ seats folded, picnic table over spare tire) and felt small and nimble. In comparison, the 2008 CR-V (which I bought in mint shape with 115k miles because a family friend could no longer drive and needed to sell very cheaply) has goofy styling, feels big and ponderous, has a choppy ride, hard flat seats, and an AWFUL rear seat folding method that leaves very little rear room and requires straps be hooked to them to keep them from falling back down (the crash to the floor like you've been rear-ended). The engine is fairly smooth and quiet, but a bit gutless compared to a torquey Subi flat 4. In addition access for maintenance is rather poor (changing the A/C compressor clutch was a pain, as would be alternator replacement, where a Subi is child's play), plus Honda says their timing chains "may" need to be replaced as soon as 150k miles ($1500 at dealer) vs easy DIY Subi timing belt replacement. The CR-V torque converter lock-up was problematical at 115,000mi even after a trans fluid and ext filter change. Dealer said this is not uncommon and said $1800 for a new T/C. Fortunately I tried "Dr. Tranny's Shudder Stop" (honest!) and now it's back to flawless shifting, but for how long? The Suni 4EAT transmissions have all lasted to 300,000mi. Iknow Honda ATs are weak so routinely change fluid every 30,000mi (I use 60,000 for the Subi transmissions). The 98 CR-V trans was full of metal and shifting roughly by 175k because the prev owner used dealer maintenance that didn't emphasize fluid changes. I just sold my 03 Forester w/ 200+k miles reluctantly because my wife prefers the bigger feel of the CR-V, and I only hope that the CR-V will not disappoint in future reliability. As far as AWD, the Hondas use a "slip and then grip" system that only activates the rear wheels AFTER the front wheels are spinning. Our son has a 2018 Forester and when we had 14" of snow we had shoveled somewhat, his Subi never slipped a tire, while my CR-V was spinning its front tires a lot, though I will say that the CR-V DID get through the snow w/o getting "stuck".

Best First Car!!
I first learned how to drive in this car and it felt very safe, comfortable and spacious. Internal parts are in excellent condition and highly maintained with receipts from Honda services. Four-wheel drive and a few exterior cosmetic defects.

Always dependable, great in all types of weather
The CRV is popular for a reason! They're spacious, they last forever, need minimal maintenance, always start, and the AWD gets you everywhere. Mine has served me well for 5 years, starts every day, and it's one of the reasons I'm a loyal Honda customer.

Loved it so much getting another one!
This car was consistently reliable and perfectly met our needs for daily driving and even long hauls. We often fit 5 adults in the CR-V and it was not crowded in the rear seats. rear floor is flat, no hump.
