first Honda
It came down to the 2014 Toyota Rav4, or the Honda CRV, and we chose the Honda for it's reputation and that it hadn't changed the engine and trans combination for several model years. Most of what I read prior to purchasing this vehicle was very positive, and I really wasn't expecting much in the way of performance with the 4 cylinder. the car handles fine, it rides a bit rough, but it is a smaller light car. What I don't like is on cold starts, it sounds like the starter is reengaging, and only during the first one, Have contacted the manufacturer , and they are aware of the problem, but don't know what is causing it, and therefore cannot remedy it. The local dealer has replaced the starter, but it had no effect on the noise. this has been happening to all of the Honda 2.4L engines either in the CRV or the other Honda's with the 4 cylinder. I believe that this will effect the resale of these vehicles for sure;

Uncomfortable
Buyer beware. Insist on an extended test drive before you purchase one of these CRV's I owned a 2004 Honda CRV for nine years and really liked it. I bought a new 2014 CRV and sold it 4 months later with 3800 miles on it, at a significant loss, due to the following reasons. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable. Way too hard. There is no adjustment for the seat bottom tilt. It's like sitting on an Adirondack chair for hours. The pressure required to press on the gas pedal is too light. As a result, you end up having to hold your foot in the correct position rather than resting your foot on the pedal, in the correct position, like other cars. The seats and the pedal make for one unpleasant, painful experience if you can't use cruise, like if it's snowing. The sun visors are there just to clip your garage door opener to, as they don't block much sun. Other than the reasons above the car was fine. The dash and connectivity were fine, finally. The car looks good. But, the reasons above were enough to be irritated every time I got in the car. I no longer buy cars after just a fifteen minute test drive. Honda is no longer anything special. It's just another car company to me.

disappointed
Ii heard such good things about this vehicle. I should have done more research before we bought this. Terrible tires, no power, and soft paint job.

Over rated, relying on past reputation
Have owned several Honda's (Accord, Odyssey), this is the first CR-V. I have been impressed but not favorably: Engine- this copy of the 2.4L engine is noisy and rough running; very unrefined. Needs more torque Suspension - on all but the smoothest roads, this suspension is simply jarring. Have never driven a car this uncomfortable. Interior - the windows rattle, sometimes; the plastic panels rattle, sometimes; another rattle in the dash and center console, sometimes. These are the most uncomfortable seats I have ever experienced. Guaranteed sore back after 100 miles. Mileage - rarely get to EPA estimated highway mileage. Generally 5% to 10% below. Overall - major decline in Engineering and assembly quality from previous Honda's

Not quite as good as I thought it would be.
This is my first Honda. I wanted a small inexpensive SUV to commute to work, got the EX model. I've owned this car almost a year now. Cons: We find the cloth seats quite uncomfortable after driving a while, especially on a long trip. I ended up adding seat cushions on both driver and passenger sides which made it a little more tolerable. The radio is of poor quality. Road noise was high and ride is bumpy. Replaced OEM tires with Goodyear Comfortreds that helped a bit. The Tire Pressure Monitor light comes on about every other day, even though I am not low on pressure. Pros: I get about 25-26mpg combined city/highway driving. On a long trip 28-30mpg if driving between 60-65, 30-32 if driving between 45-50 (usually I am in the right lane for this!). The AWD is good in the snow. It has been reliable so far, I have put on just over 25,000 miles. Not sure if I would buy this car again.

2014 Honda CRV
We have had this brand new 2014 Honda CRV for one year now and have less than 4500 miles on it. Gas mileage is horrible. We get from 18-21 mpg daIly, mostly city driving. My old 06 giant size Chevy 1500 Silverado would get 21-25 mpg with its V8. What a shock. Speaking of shocks, this CRV is very rough riding, very similar to the Jeep Liberty we used to have. It does not take much to feel a shock to the spine on many small bumps. Otherwise, this is a comfortable vehicle on the highway. Engine noise is loud and we have to keep the radio turned up to hear the music. Love the Bluetooth. TPM light stays on and will not go out. Rear view camera is great to have, otherwise view is difficult, including through the small side windows.

Not As Good As We Hoped It Would Be
We bought this CRV in July of 2014. As of this date, we have 4,700 miles on it. My husband I are both retired and we only need one vehicle for our household. We had a 1996 Ford Ranger Truck V6 and a 2005 Toyota Camry V6. The truck was in need of many repairs and the Camry because of our age, sat too low and made it hard for us to get out of after driving any distances. We thought the CRV would be the right height and we could still haul some items if needed. We find that the CRV's seat bottoms are very uncomfortable and we think it is due to the second row of heavy stitching towards the back of the seats. We may have to go to an upholster to see if they can make the seats more comfortable. The gas mileage is much less than we expected for a 4 cylinder and we are still waiting to get some where near the suggested MPG ratings for both the city and highway driving. Even though the CRV is only a 4 cylinder it still has enough power to safely enter freeway traffic and the car is easy to handle. We have taken the CRV into the dealership with items like rough idling which turn out to be due to a clogged fuel jet. A sound coming from the steering wheel which turned out to be something not fitted properly. The TPM indicator kept coming on. No one is sure why that occurs. Looking at the oil % indicator it looks like the car will need an oil change at around 8,000 miles not 12,000.

Good Car
Only 5000 miles but like it. It handles very well and is easy to drive. Suggest an arm rest on the front passenger seat.

Every thing fine
A big change for us but seems to have every thing we need and are used to. It is quiet, easy to park. Plenty of room for the two of us. The sales person, Brandon Womack, was MOST HELPFUL in answered our questions, showing the vehicles features etc.

anyone else having this problem
Bought second CR-V this model is 2014 Periodically when starting the vehicle it makes a funny noise, the first one 2012 also did this and kept getting worse, they could never find the problem every time I took the vehicle into a Honda dealer traded vehicle in for same model 2014 and have had it approx 3 months, it has started to make this noise again, not every time just once in a while, (not good at explaining what it sounds like BUT sort of like when a starter is going) it has done it now about three times Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
