Sleek, yet average

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra looks sportier than most of its competition, yet performs the same or worse than the same counterpart vehicles. Average.

Great car for the money

Bought car for my Wife and she LOVES it. Great gas mileage. best one for the price as a used car. The styling looks like a sports car but is really a family vehicle with all the "Goodies" one would want in a vehicle.

This Car is Pretty Dope

So, I bought this car about 3 years ago when I moved to Chicago... and it's pretty dope. Heated seats throughout, sunroof, bluetooth ready. Its a great car and I feel like I got good bang for my buck. I also don't drive it often, but when I do, its as smooth as butter. Only thing I'm not happy about, is the suspension. It really doesn't do well in Chicago. Lol!

PERFECT ALL-AROUND COMMUTER

I honestly don't know where to start... I have had my black exterior/interior 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS for 3.5 years now and it currently has 130,000 miles on it (100,000 are mine). These past 3.5 years have been the most stress-free of my life due to easy maintenance of this car. 1) The paint still looks brand new and has shown ZERO signs of clear-coat peel. 2) The engine is STILL EXTREMELY SMOOTH AND LIVELY. I don't know how Hyundai programmed that little transmission, but that thing is very intuitive and very smooth. I can't stress how almost imperceptible the shifts are all of the time. Overall, the engine is plenty adequate unless you have a car full of adult-sized people. 3) The suspension has a few creaks, but nothing you would ever notice unless you were intentionally trying to listen for noises intently. 4) The features have proven very adequate even after all of these years. [Bluetooth, Cruise Control, Traction Control, Stability Control, 4 wheel disc ABS Brakes, Audio Interface Functions, XM Radio, Aux Cord Capability Semi-Automatic Transmission, etc] 5) The interior has also held up extremely well considering I have never lived anywhere where I could park my car in shade. 6) All electrical components are still original. No alternator problems. Battery is still extremely juiced up. And NO EXTERIOR BULBS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. 7) While I was in college, the styling was perfect because I had a cheap car that looked premium, and my friends loved to take my car on road trips. 8) Speaking of road trips, I have literally taken this car everywhere the South has to offer. It's the perfect highway car. Even to this day, I am getting the best gas mileage I ever have [34+ at speeds of 90+mph]. Yes, this car easily cruises between 90-100mph. I literally could go on and on about how much I am still in love my "college" car. Everyday I get ready to leave, it's feels like I am driving it for the first time. I'm not going to get rid of it until it dies which seems like that's pretty far into the future. Make your decision smartly and choose Hyundai. You will not be disappointed.

2nd Hyundai

This is the second Elantra I have owned and so far I am i love. I bought a 2002 Elantra in the fall of 01 and drove it for over 130,000 miles and 12 years. Never a problem with the engine. I gave it to my daughter-in-law when I bought myself a gently used 2011 Elantra Limited a month ago. Is it materialistic of me to say I LOVE this car? Heated seats, XM Radio, sun roof, and so much more at a really good price. I couldn't be prouder of my choice to buy another reliable Elantra.

Sporty Elantra

My sales consultant, Glenn Somerville, was very professional and he cared about my needs and wants pertaining to my purchase. Overall, I had a great experience and I love my new car!

Suprise Disappointment

I bought the Hyundai Elantra new in March of 2011, when it was receiving a lot of attention for its roomy interior, great MPG (a promised 30 to 41) and new stylish exterior. At the time, it set the bar for features consumers could expect with compact sedans ranging from $15 to $20k. It drives well for its class (I went on lots of test drives in competitors) and I've seen other reviews complain about road noise but I don't notice anything out of the ordinary. It's a smooth ride, accelerates nicely for a 4 cylinder and handles well for a Hyundai. I get a lot of compliments on the body and people are always impressed when they realize the iPod hookup and bass were part of the package. (I opted for one step below the GLS package, so no sunroof or GPS dashboard.) However, if you're interested in more than gadgets and comfort- oh yeah this is supposed to help get from point A to point B!- I wouldn't recommend this vehicle. I bought the car to drive it. I like road trips and my lifestyle requires a lot of commuting. In under 18 months, I've put on just under 25k miles, including one 4500 mile cross-country trip. I'm meticulous about maintenance (thus far only oil changes, tire rotations and an alignment) and average 34MPG, even though the majority of my driving is highway. I've experienced body malfunctions, rust spots and paneling bubbling as well as computer malfunctions- like the vehicle just shuts down on the road. Its for those reasons that I gave 2 stars on interior design and reliability, because the inside looks very nice, but bubbling paneling and dash features in a vehicle less than 2 years old is quite a disappointment. If this were the only vehicle available for under $20k with these features, I might recommend it for the value, however, with other major American automakers and foreign auto makers producing competitive vehicles for a better value, I say there are better ways to spend your money then on the Elantra.

So far it's great!

Needing to upgrade to a car with better gas mileage, I had narrowed my search to the Elantra and three other fuel efficient vehicles. After test driving each of these, I have to say the Elantra is by far the most comfortable of the fuel friendly vehicles. Being 6 foot 2 and 220 pounds, I feel right at home in driving the Elantra on my 40 minute daily commute, as well as when we took it on a 5 hour trip this weekend. As for fuel economy, I have averaged just over 32 MPG since I purchased the car, and I've already put over 4K miles on it. During our recent road trip, when the majority of the miles were on the interstate, I averaged nearly 38 MPG, which I admit is below the 40 MPG advertised, but I was also driving 70+ MPH most of the time, and I know MPG decreases at these higher speeds. I'm looking forward to driving this vehicle for the next 10 to 15 years if the reliability holds up like I've heard in my research.

Great mileage

I miss my Nissan Frontier pickup. So much I could carry that I can't get into my Elantra. However at 40+ mpg on the hiway, the Elantra is hands down a winner. The only thing that I've found that I don't like are the seats. The seat is too narrow and the side sweeps up too quickly, pressing on my thighs. On even a moderate drive, it becomes uncomfortable, and I'm just an average sized guy. Other than the too narrow seat, the car is good. It handles well, the small engine has enough pickup, fair visibility and the 2011 has much better safety ratings than older models. Once again, the gas mileage is fantastic!
