Misleading ads worked with me but not anymore

After checking so many cars, I tried this rather than a Toyota due its discounts just telling 'I would buy this instead of that' but what an error: I tried to trust hyundai, twice and 'twice' disappointed. I can't recommend this car, sorry. In addition, I'm not that bad driving, impossible to reach EPA's consumption (no even close) I'm sure I'm not the one and I can't understand why people can't pay more than 25% of the initial price after four years.

Hyundai Elantra

Love this car except the mileage is not what is advertised. The dash reading of MPG is also about 2 to 3 miles more then what you actually get.

Nice, except for.....

This is an update. I have now had the car for over 3 months (3000 miles) & I still like it a lot. One thing people need to be aware of: the computer mpg is significantly off from the actual- by more than 10%! That's right- the computer tells me 40.5, the actual? Try 35.5 mpg. Still great MPG's, but a long way off from 40! I probably average about 32 mpg in mixed driving. Its comfortable, has a nice stereo, handles pretty well, but there are a few annoyances. The stereo sounds great, but isn't the most user friendly. The seats are reasonably comfortable, but not great. The engine isnt really powerful, but it gets the job done, although loudly when pushed. One other issue- I get a creaking when I go over bumps that seems to come from the upper frame around the drivers side window. Overall, I love the styling, am disappointed with the mpg's, but I still would recommend the car. You do get an awful lot for the money with this car.

Incredible Value

What an amazing value. I shopped Honda, Toyota and Nissan and there was no comparison. The Hyundai provided the best value for the money spent over all their competition. As we have driven the vehicle it just gets better. It is smooth, roomy and has a ton of extras included. I am continually amazed that neither the US nor Japanese companies have been able to build something of equal quality and value. They should be very concerned.

ALL THIS FROM A HYUNDAI?

Former Honda Accord owner. Got tired of 15-17 MPG. Took 2 months to decide on Elantra. Have had it for 3 months now and never looked back. Purchased the Limited and it is equipped same as Honda. All features are so well thought out. Only took one open highway trip and averaged 37.5 MPG with less than 500 miles on it. Live in hilly Pgh, PA and still avg about 26 MPG. It was perfect out of the box!!

Great Job Hyundai!

I rented an Elantra GLS a few weeks ago for a nice, fairly long drive to a freind's house. I'm in the market for a new car anyway so I gave Hyundai a shot. I have to say I'm very impressed. It may be the best looking car in the segment. Sporty, flowing lines that aren't overdone. The Sonata, many people compare it with, is the same but a bit much too much in the front. Inside the car is done very nicely but does have some flaws. Nothing that would stop me from getting the car however. The rear doesn't have much head room because of the coupe like styling. The dial in a dial HVAC controls look nice but there's only small red markers noteing the position of the dials. The radio is tilted somewhat away from the driver making some of the controls a bit far to reach. Opt for the radio controls on the steering wheel. Everything else (for the model I was driving) was fine and the seats were comfortable. The ride was smooth and it was pretty quiet but the rear did get a little squirrely over some expansion joints and rougher patches of road. It's showed pretty decent power when you stepped on it but there is some engine noise, but not too loud. Still, the ride was fine for a small car. Gas seems to be the big issue. Some say they didn't get the 40 MPG number Hyundai said. Well I got 40 MPG by turning on ECO mode, keeping the widows up, and setting the CC going no more than 65 mph. Going 75 I still got 37 with the AC on and I don't even own the car. I think there are a lot of lead foots out there. Overall, the car's is one of the better cars in the class. Even if it wasn't priced the way it was.

So glad I bought this car!

I needed a new car after my Jetta died. I was't sure what to get and was very torn about making a choice. I had nothing but problems with my Jetta and did not want another headache. My dad told me to check out the Elantra's due to all the standard safety features and the fantastic warranty. I went to look at the Elantra and loved it. The new body style and the features you get for the money are great! I love my Elantra and I am very happy with my choice.
