My favorite car ever!
The Santa Cruz is my all time favorite car. It rides so smoothly with great power when needed. The back seats are truly intended for humans. The truck bed is awesome. The built in tonneau cover is ingenious. While the bed is small, the back gate can be half closed that allows larger items to be held in the bed. I would suggest buying either of the 2 top end styles so that you get all the performance, power and technology. I just love it.

T. Toy Truck. The Santa Cruz Limited Edition
I love to drive my Limited Santa Cruz. The ride is very smooth and when you need the power to merge in to traffic, you got it. The safety features are great, but take time to get use to. I did have a problem with the car at one point. While driving the dual wet clutch transmission went into neutral while on a highway. The dealer did find and fix the problem after several attempts. The transmission control module Main Ground connection came loose. I have addressed this issue with hyundaiUSA. After the problem was fixed, the car/truck runs great. Even though it is titled a truck, this car rides like a high class vehicle. As far as gas mileage, I have gotten 30+ MPG on occasion. One last point, getting in and out of the vehicle is easy. Particularly for older folks like me. Also people have stopped and asked to look at it. That's neat too.

The Sexy Truck
Love my sexy Santa Cruz. Often stopped by random people who love the sleek look. I've never experienced that before. Great drive. Great hauling ability. I'm now spoiled by the safety features and large touch screen.

Good but could be better
Better than most entry level pick ups. Way more technology. However, it is a pricey piece. They could do better with less gloss black. But it drives nice.

Little pricey but quirky Lots of plastics
This would be a five star review if not for the price. Tech is very good and it turns heads wherever I go. Cute and quick

Buy it...you won't be sorry.
I have the SEL model with the non-turbo engine and the activity package. First of all don't listen to all the "experts" who claim the base engine is underpowered. Hogwash! For the average driver the non-turbo engine is perfectly capable with 191hp. and the 8 speed auto. The interior is first class and high tech with everything I need including heated seats. it's very comfortable and with a power driver's seat & tilt/telescoping steering wheel you would have to be a one armed monkey if you can't find a sweet spot. It's fun and easy to drive and really turns heads. I've never had so many compliments on a new car as I have in my Santa Cruz. It's the perfect weekend car and the trucklike bed in the back is plenty big enough for my needs and with the lockable concealed storage and the rolling & locking tonneau cover, you're not afraid to leave it with valuables in it. If you have wet or muddy or sandy gear to stow you don't have to worry about scrubbing and vacuuming out the back of your SUV...just hose off the composite bed and you're done. Another thing...YES you can carry 4 x 8 sheets of plywood flat. They fit between the wheel wells and you can adjust the tailgate angle to the same level as the wheel wells. Slide em in, strap em down and go. Ground clearance is great and the all wheel drive works good as well and is lockable for really bad weather or terrain. Ok, I dinged the performance a bit because I think the engine transmits more noise to the interior than it needs to going through the gears although it quiets right down at speed. I also knocked a star off for the interior design. I wish there were more useable cubbies and places to stash stuff. The center console is just a deep hole and I bought an aftermarket tray for small stuff that Hyundai should have included with the car. Maybe next model year. Gas mileage in my first 3k miles of mixed driving has averaged 24.1 mpg. which is above the mfg. rating. I'm happy with that. I realize this is a new model and it may take a year or Two of tweaking by Hyundai to work out all the little things but overall I love this car/truck or whatever you want to call it.

My truck
I love, love, love my new Santa Cruz. It is so cool to look at. Fun to drive. Just as comfortable as my Volvo XC60. Better gas mileage, even with the turbo and uses regular gas. All the goodies you can imagine and a great warranty. So Happy.

A slippage problem. Safety a real concern.
This truck I love because I like to garden. Perfect for this old lady. I would never recommend it to a family with children. It has a stick that slides into that. Shifting mode to easily. I have gotten used to this problem of having to put it back in driving gear. I don’t believe the problem is just the bump when using the cup holder. I feel especially when I was doing forty that this slippage problem is a major recall. This problem in traffic could cost you your life.
