Fun to Drive

I'm an engineer, so probably picky about some things, but this vehicle is well designed, handles great, has plenty of horsepower (3.3), and good fuel economy. We bought new and had it for 1.5 years. Yes, my wife loves the 2008 Santa Fe.

Love it

This is the 5th Hyundai I have owned. I also had a 2006 Sante Fe. Like the 2008 so much more. Seems quite larger on the inside (head room and width). The only thing I dislike about this car is at highway speeds there is faint whistling sound. There is a service bulletin on this, but Hyundai has not provided a fix. If you turn the radio on you don't hear it -- it is that faint. Very comfortable ride. Great performance. Love all the features.

Safe, fun, stylish...and cheap!

My first car ever was a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS. I drove it from 9K miles to 80K miles before giving it to my brother. The reliability of the car made me want to consider getting a Hyundai again as my second vehicle. I am in the military, and knew I could be stationed somewhere up north where weather conditions could be icey and cold. I wanted an SUV that had a great safety rating and could handle well in the snow. This came out as the best option for the price! When I bought the car in Texas, I had to drive it back to Florida...so I took a long route north to Tennessee in the mountains and then south to Florida. I drove through many mountainous areas with a lot of rain, and could see the handling was tremendous. There was one part of the drive where a person ran in front of the road and I was able to make a quick correction to swerve and avoid the person, and I felt I had control of the vehicle the entire time while doing this at 70mph. I couldn't have asked for a better vehicle for myself and passengers. Pros: Comfort is great. There are AC vents for the rear seat passengers. Safety is amazing for the 6 airbags that protects everyone in the vehicle. The seats in the back fold down and allow for enough room to put 2 sleeping bags and comfortably sleep with someone else when camping or at a rest stop. Overall, this is the best vehicle I could have purchased for the money Cons: I went from 34mpg to 22/23mpg. Losing the gas efficient vehicle is sad. Also, I wish there were a couple more options that came standard with the vehicle, instead of me having to go out and buy them now. Also radio does a poor job of picking up stations, I am considering on buying a new antennae. Overall: With the great price, warranty, safety, and comfort of having a larger vehicle...the Santa Fe cannot be beaten. This SUV has given me one of the cheapest insurance rates available too. The list can go on with how great it has been for me. I recommend this SUV for anyone not wanting to spend more than $25K for a SUV, and wanting something that is American made!

under rated

Santa FE GLS is a very under rated V Seats could be a more comfortable Stock tires could be a higher quality Fit and finish excellent, sound system very good. Gas mileage is just fair Performance on this SUV is top notch excellent in high wind and storm conditions, heater, AC ,window wipers, defrosters are excellent Quite and well centered on the highway or on narrow crooked back dirt road. we have Six SUV's in my family and all the family give this SUV an A rating

Solid and Dependable

This is the first Hyundai that I owned and I love it. I purchased the vehicle with 10k miles on it and have had no issues. It handles like a charm, the interior is very spacious and I am 6ft tall. The body style is nice and the price compared to the other competitors is the best value for the buck. The only thing that I did not like about the vehicle was the fact that they did not have a input jack on the radio for my I pod. Yes the xm radio is nice but.......

Second Hyundai I have owned!

I bought my Santa Fe a month ago and am having no problems with it. The handling is amazing and it is a very smooth and quiet ride. I previously owned an Elantra and had that for 10 years with minimal problems and am excited for this Hyundai. The cargo room in this car is amazing. I recently fit 3 coolers a large, medium and small one and groceries for a weekend at the lake and baggage for 4 girls so you know how much that is and had room to spare. My friends said the leg room in the back was amazing and had no problems with anyone being to hot because of the rear seat vents that they had control of! I love my new Santa Fe and would recommend it to anyone!

Rented for vacation

I don't own one but I would love to...I rented it in Florida for vacation and at first I was thinking I wouldnt like it..but its so fun to drive I'm thinking of buying. The cargo room is excellent, it fit 3 large suitcases plus two carry-ons; then all our beach gear with room to spare. Very peppy on the road...was going 85 without even realizing it!

Great car - wondering about cobwebs

My 2007 Santa Fe has been great. It could use some kind of automatic light more toward the front of the passenger area, but I seem to have survived without it. All other aspects of the car have been fine- the ride, the space. The only down side so far happened today when the car was in because the check engine light has been going on and off since last August. According to central Hyundai service the car has cobwebs in the gas line. I will end up having to pay just over $100.00 to "hopefully" have the problem eradicated. I had planned to purchase the car at the end of my lease, but now I am re-thinking, even though it has been a great car.
