2001 Isuzu Trooper Anniversary Edition

I own a 2001 Isuzu trooper Anniversary Edition. I personally have not seen another one. It currently has 112K miles on it. It has all the bells and whistles. It's very stylish inside and out. I'm very happy with it. It's very reliable. It's very unfortunate that in 1995 Consumer Report made false accusations that the 1995 & 1996 Isuzu Trooper were prone to roll overs. Isuzu Trooper immediately responded with an independent Isuzu Trooper safety performance study and proved that The Isuzu Trooper does not roll over as Consumer Reported, but the damage has already been done. Which in return Isuzu Trooper lost 244 million dollars in sale's which halted the production of the Isuzu Trooper in 2002. It my personal belief that sometime in the near future these Isuzu Troopers will be sought after and go up in value.

It's a tank.

I have owned my 2001 Trooper (Anniversary Edition) for 18 years. It has all the bells and whistles. I want to get a new truck but this SUV just won't die. I have driven it from Canada to Mexico and everywhere in between. The only negative comment I can make is that it came with a really poor Nachamichi sound system, which unfortunately Isuzu placed in their flagship model-really shameful. It would be ideal for safari in Africa. I have seen a few of these tanks on the road but never another 2001 Anniversary Edition. I'm pretty sure the tranny will be the first thing to go and then I will be a happy man (get new truck). I certainly got my money's worth ( It was my third Trooper).

Very good reliable timeless SUV!

What can I say? I own the 4JX1 diesel version with automatic transmission. This SUV takes me and my family from London, England to Morocco every summer and back. We drive through France and Spain. This car is amazing on and off-road. It can carry anything on the top roof rack and tow as much as 3,000 kg. It's now got 162,000 miles on the clock and still drives and looks great. What a car!

With me for more than a decade now

It stood the test of time. I've done the maintenance, and got the rewards. What a great truck! Still in great shape inside and out, and because I got the top of the line it's full of nice luxury and comfort features you wouldn't expect in such a capable off-roader. And it has such a nice, clean and classic style that it won't hurt your eyes (unlike the newer 2005 Pontiac Aztek, for example). This Trooper is definitively a keeper!

Most Reliable SUV I have ever owned

My trooper is now 18 years old and still runs very well. Acceleration is slower but vehicle is heavy. Gas mileage is not good but my commute is short. In bad weather this SUV will get you home in a Blizzard. I would buy this Trooper again in a heartbeat. Very comfortable to drive.

Best SUV 2001 Isuzu Trooper If You Can Find One!

This is the absolute best vehicle I have ever owned! Gas miles better then my jetta at about 20 miles per gallon. Lots of room. Smooth driving. Reliable and sharp looking classic.

All terrain reliability

Most adaptable vehicle owned. Always ready to handle fast city traffic or steep rugged back roads. Plenty of room for 5, plus gear or luggage. Responsive turning and handling. Powerful engine.

Wonderful vehicle -- I miss it

I am an original owner of a 2001 Isuzu Trooper. I had placed $190,000 miles on this vehicle. Never had any problems with it. Just changed tires & oil change. It's spacious and versatile for what I need. It can actually accommodate 2 adult bikes in the back. The exterior remained immaculate for the full 10-yrs I have owned it. I just wish they got a better gas mileage. Overall, this was a wonderful vehicle.

Indestructible Jeeps

I drove a Trooper to Costa Rica and around Central America litter ally beating the heck out of it in stream beds and deep potholed roads, with never a problem - none. I have one now that I rolled in an accident in Colorado in the snow and after a new door and fender it was good as new with no effects 50,000 miles post accident. The transmissions are bullet tough and they stay tight and rattle free. My only complaint is the AC / Heater fan drag on slow speed
