Vehicle Overview

The Jaguar XK is a high-end luxury sports car that drives as well as it looks. The four-seat XK comes as a coupe or convertible with V-8 power. There are two high-performance variants of the XK: the XKR and XKR-S. Both have supercharged V-8s, and the XKR-S’ engine puts out 550 horsepower. According to Jaguar, the XKR-S can go from zero to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Competitors include the BMW 650i and Mercedes-Benz SL. For 2014, there’s a limited-edition, high performance XKR-S GT coupe.  A total of 25 cars will be sold in the U.S. and five in Canada.

XKR
Jaguar’s XKR builds upon the XK with a 510-hp, supercharged version of the 5.0-liter V-8. A modified suspension firms up the ride and sharpens handling. Other changes include a modified exterior with a mesh grille, modified fog lights, larger wheels, quad exhaust and dual hood louvers. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, and Jaguar says the XKR accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. For 2014, an optional Performance Pack includes an active exhaust, red brake calipers and diamond-pattern stitching on the seats.

XKR-S
Jaguar says the limited-production XKR-S has a top speed of 186 mph and will leap from zero to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds.

For 2014, there’s a limited-edition, high-performance XKR-S GT coupe.  A total of 25 cars will be sold in the U.S. and five in Canada. The XKR-S GT coupe features aerodynamic and suspension modifications, as well as carbon ceramic brakes.

Thanks to exhaust system and engine computer tuning, the supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 makes 550 hp and 502 pounds-feet of torque. Boost pressure and engine compression are also slightly higher. The engine teams with a six-speed automatic that incorporates shift paddles. The suspension is 10 millimeters lower, and the XKR-S has an electronic differential.

The exterior is different than other XKs. Gloss-black accents are present, and the front bumper incorporates a carbon fiber splitter. The aggressive-looking hood features two horizontal cooling slots near the car’s nose. At the rear, there’s a fixed spoiler with carbon fiber inlay. The XKR-S also has unique wider side sills and a distinctive rear apron with a carbon fiber diffuser.

Inside, there are 16-way power-adjustable performance seats with sculpted side bolsters. RS logos adorn the head restraints and doorsills.

  • You won't find a better car for the money

I love the fact that Jaguar's still have a bad rap on reliability. That assures me that I can get a used one for a great price. As for the reliability... I've owned four of them now. My original Jag's an 82' and 89' although great to drive, WERE maintenance nightmares. My 2005 XK8 and now my 2014 XK are as solid as can be. I drove my 2005 until it reached 203,000 miles and only turned it in when it was totaled in an accident. My 2014 is one of the greatest touring cars in the world... PERIOD. I've owned Mercedes' (coupe), BMW's (735), Porches (911), Corvette's, etc. and NONE of them provides the driving pleasure of my Jag's AND ever since Ford took over and now Tata Motors, the reliability of my Jag's are rock solid. So keep that old reliability rap going. It will only allow me to once again get my next Jag at a reasonable price.

  • BEST CAR I'VE OWNED!!!! BUY ONE

Sad knowing they stopped production and went to the F-Type which is more like the sky. Perspective, I've owned 2 new BMW's, GST Spyder, Infinity, Nissans, Mopars,= (Challengers) 5.O Stang, Jeeps. THIS IS BY FAR, the best car I've owned. If you are on the fence get one now before they become extinct. I purchased a 2013 w/less than 20K XK Touring Coupe, never liked the spine look of the Convertible top (except on an Aston DB9 or M60. I cannot find a purpose for any HP over 400, unless you track it all the time. Realistically, you can't use the power except in very rare spots. So I found the fit of the cabin to be perfect, the 2 + 2 is actually hilarious and a good conversation piece, just invite a friend over 3 feet tall to try and sit back there. The Jag rumble from the exhaust is exhilarating to say the least, even at 2500 rpms, then full throttle blows the mind. Tight suspension, steering, and response. Jag got the 3rd gen of this car right for sure. All the features you want come standard. I cannot say enough about the look, slim, slammed, sleek, the body lines are pure art. Gas mileage might be an issue, but if you can't spring for the high ox fuel then you might want to skip any performance car. So basically if you want a very well built, fast, and beautiful car get one. Just bury the though of gasoline all together so you can enjoy the ride. Another small note, the information system is very slow in response, but why be in a hurry? you're in a jag.

  • Jaguar, There is None Finer!!!

Bought a 2014 Jaguar XKR Convertible new in July of 2015. Traded in my 2013 Jaguar XK touring Convertible for it. I have to say this was one of the best things I have ever done. Loved the 2013 XK. It was the touring model which meant very little as only a few options were missing. It was smooth with a soft ride and when driven, I thought I was riding in a Jaguar sedan. It had the same 5.0L engine as the XKR, but was normally aspirated and put out 385 hp. The car was a blast, but I saw the XKR and desired more power. Looking on Cars.com one night, I found one that I loved in the pictures and the next morning I went to see it. It was love at first sight!!! Once I drove the car I knew I was taking it home with me!!! The power is incredible and smooth!!! The ride is a little harder than my previous touring, but this is more of a performance car. The car moves effortlessly!! I have had it 150mph and the car felt just as stable as at 55mph!!! The handling is really good, but has to be respected! When cornering hard and applying power, it must be done smoothly or the rear end will kick out and try to come around. Once this is known, the car can be driven precisely. The quality of the car build is wonderful!!! suede and leather are everywhere!! I have the standard seats that have all sorts of adjustments. the seats are heated and ventilated. The steering wheel is also. The headlights move with you as you turn, takes some time to get used to. The technology is good. The Bluetooth is for phone only, but I bought a tune-2-air bluetoothe adapter and can now stream my music through the system without issue!! I have taken this car on a few road trips and was not tired when I got there. Only thing about this car is gas mileage. On the highway I get 20 mpg and around town 17 mpg. Do not believe the professional reviews of this car being long in tooth or not as good as Porsche. Go see for yourself!!! I have had many 911 Porsches and to get the luxury and performance from a 911 to compare you will spend more money!! The ride of this car versus a 911 is not comparable. I have driven the XK 5hours and felt good!! after 1 hour in the 911 I have to get out!!! I am 6'3" and #240 and the 911 is just ok for me. I would highly recommend this car!!! I Hve had no maintenance issues other than a dead battery in almost a year and this was replaced by the dealer without fuss for no charge!!!
