2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited

Third Jeep I have owed, two made solely for off-road capabilities and this one solely for driving around the city streets of Chicago. Despite Chicago's pot-hole ridden infrastructure, 5-mph traffic, and some of the shortest acceleration ramps I have seen in US, the 98,000+ mile Jeep Chrokee has withstood it all (touch wood). Pervious Jeeps were nearly gutted with the exception of engine and drive train - if this Jeep, which uses the same design technology, holds as well as the others, I should see this car running smoothly for many more years!

2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport

I've owned my '01 Sport for two years. This is actually the second Cherokee I've owned - the other was a 1987 Laredo. My '01 is the 4 door 4x4 model with a 4-speed AT. It's been an excellent all-around SUV; large enough for transporting three adults, two dogs, and associated cargo. Interior is spare but comfortable and DURABLE. Fantastic on snow and ice in the winter! The ride is a little rough, but of all the compact SUVs I've driven it handles and corners the best. Very STABLE. We tow a small camper (2000 lbs) and it handles that just fine. Decent gas mileage for a 4x4 - 20MPG highway, about 17 combined in real-world driving. Only major problem was replacement of the fuel pump at ~45K miles - cost about $400 US. Otherwise very reliable and solid. Would certainly recommend to others! When considering 4x4 options in this model, look for SelecTrac, as this has a full-time 4WD option (slippery & dry surfaces). It's hard to find it on a Sport, but many Classic's have it. In my opinion it's worth the extra $$.

A lot of SUV for the Money

I bought mine used this year and couldn't be more satisfied. Room for 5 and plenty of storage space as well in the back. It has a lot of power but still gets 25 MPG on the highway and better than reported around town; not to mention the Sound System is incredible! It's nice to finally be back in a Jeep again. I can't wait to play in the snow this coming winter!

I own a 2001 Cherokee Sport

I have a 2001 Cherokee Sport, which I bought in 2003. It is a very good vehicle for what it is, which is a rugged SUV. It is NOT a faux minivan/luxury sedan dressed up like an SUV. It rides much stiffer than more luxurious SUV's, and the interior is comfortable and practical, but not excessive. I have had no problems with it mechanically, and when washed and waxed, it still looks awesome. If it had better gas mileage or if gas was still 1.50 a gallon, I'd have no complaints whatsoever.
