Solid SUV for All Around Driving Plus Great Hauler

Solid SUV with a lot of comfort features (heated front AND rear seats plus the steering wheel!) and a great towing vehicle. Gas mileage is not great for city driving given the V8 Hemi, but longer distance freeway driving is decent, even when towing lighter loads.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is AWESOME

Best car I've ever owned. Reliable, comfortable, capable, fun to drive, not bad on the eyes, and with all the features I've always wanted for less than any other brand in the class.

Nice SUV, especially if you want to tow (V8 Hemi)

We purchased a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee LIMITED used from a dealer in SE Wisconsin (a lease vehicle that was turned in) to serve as the one car we would have that could do it all (we are a one-car household). It sees short commutes (less than 8 miles each way), daily trips to run dogs in nearby wooded parks, and then some towing action to haul around trailers carrying a vintage motorcycle and sometimes a smaller sailboat. We have also towed some larger UHaul trailers when moving some household items. If you're looking for fuel efficient, then don't get this SUV. We have the V8 Hemi for towing, and while it gets decent MPG on the freeway (even when towing), this is a gas guzzler for in town trips. The Limited has great interior offerings - leather seats with heat in both front AND rear seats, ventilated (cooled) front seats, heated steering wheel (so nice in the winter in the Great Lakes), three memory seat positions on the driver's seat, and lots of storage. I found the seats to be a bit uncomfortable - not as plush as I would hope (I want supportive with some cushion). There is great leg room in the back seat and good cargo space with the seats in use. I carry two 65 pound hunting dogs in the rear cargo area daily, and it's very comfortable for them. The Jeep with the V8 Hemi tows like a dream - you hardly notice the trailer load behind you. I have even driven towing some U-Haul trailers through the worst of Chicagoland traffic with no anxiety or concerns. One safety peeve - while you have good visibility front and rear (lots of glass area), the side visibility from the driver seat to spot pedestrians crossing the street is blocked by the huge side mirrors couple with the door jams between the windshield and front seat windows. This is problematic for us since we live in an area where lots of people walk places - lots of pedestrian traffic. The car hasn't had many maintenance needs - just the usual oil changes, tire rotations, etc., and we have had no reliability issues. And it doesn't require premium fuel, which is great for the budget.

Lots of problems

Electric problems, not the most comfortable ride either. Serious recalls on this car and the signal and headlights keep going out

Loved it, even with it's flaws

I had the 3.6l V6 laredo with leather, pano sunroof, and premium sound. The V6 was so slow, and the transmission was awful. Not very responsive, would clunk into gears. The steering wheel would shake at 70 mph on the freeway. Tried to have that fixed multiple times, new tires and hundreds of dollars in service, still couldn't figure it out. However, I loved this thing. Sadly I just totaled mine, but it saved my life. And I had some awesome adventures in this thing, even though mine didn't have the hardcore off-road modes. My second grand cherokee, and I'm not sure why, since the first one would stall all the time. Thank you, you infamous TIPM.. Wouldn't recommend it only because it was pricey to maintain.

Trouble right out of the gate

Many mechanical problems early on....shocks, tie rods, brake booster and now the engine is shot... Had to be towed twice... just not reliable, however it does perform well. Cloth seats stain very easily and look bad over time. Very loud clicking noise and was told the top engine needs to be replaced... all lifters and rockers... very disappointed.
