At best a urban assault vehicle.
Yes it is a Jeep, kinda. It rides like a Jeep, has the power and fuel economy of a Jeep. But then they tried to insert certain creature comfort to excite the soccer mom that needs four wheel drive in climate areas. It worked !

One Week into it
My husband's vehicle died and he wanted my beloved Ford Edge. So I was buying a truck, until we found a 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport 4wd. I always wanted a Jeep, but this wasn't what I had in mind. It was a good deal. I didn't want it, but I went for the good deal because it was best for us. Next day we took it home and it grew on me. Following day Michigan snow & ice storm hit. It is a little tank. I passed accidents all over town and I had to get to a road where no one was out of town to even get the antilocks to kick in, no slip no slide with that 4WDHI. And when went up north to see family it proved it is more at home on snow, ice slush and mud (and never took it out of 2WD for the trip) than it is in our busy city. I have no complaints about its town driving. It is supposed to get about 1 mile less per gallon than my edge, and so far that has proved true. It does not have all the options my edge had, and it doesn't have the same comfortable seats, but I am actually loving it so far! I would not hesitate at this point to purchase another Jeep vehicle. I love the front view as it is squared off and very Jeep like. The rear half of the vehicle is a little boxy and boring looking. Inside we could use more amenities, but I am surviving. I will say the interior definitely could have been done in a nicer look and feel even for a sport model.

Still in love with it after 4 years
I was trading in my old 2000 Jeep Cherokee that I loved, and the Liberty was like a luxurious upgrade. I liked that it had the old Cherokee's close, no-dash windshield because I've always felt a dashboard just collects dust and debris. This Jeep is so comfortable, the seats are firm but cushy, meaning I can drive for hours straight without getting sore. I'm 5'4" and the height is just right, easy to get in and out of. Highway miles are as easy as city miles, the ride is quiet and smooth. The 4x4 is an easy shift. Turning radius is very good. I can't believe they stopped making the Liberty! Mine is the last model (2012) and I love it as much today (2017) as when I first bought it.

A Tuff Machine
Purchased my 2012 Jeep Liberty in October of 2015 with 65,000 miles in superb condition. Only drive about 5,000 miles a year. This Jeep other than gas mileage has been fantastic. No problems whatsoever. Reliable to the bone. Not comfortable for long trips but of course I do not drive it much. Snow and ice?? Just flip the switch on for 4x4 and it will not stop. Absolutely love my Jeep Liberty. Worth it.
