Surprised me

This is just me here, but I think the new styling is pretty incredible, with an obvious nod to BMW and Audi. There are some obvious corners cut to make the lower price point, like the interior panels in the trunk, but who really sees that anyway. The legroom is phenomenal! I'm 6'5", and my son can sit behind me comfortably! The SX is pretty quick, not blistering. But... for a fuel efficient 2.0? I'm quite happy. We'll have to see how it holds up. We have a 5yr old Sedona as well, which has been excellent, so the hopes are pretty high for the Optima as well.

Some good some bad

I have driven the SX Turbocharged Optima for 4 months now and have been mostly satisfied with its performance. First the good. Everywhere I go the car always manages to turn heads. And its sleek design manages to elicit several compliments. The interior is actually a lot roomier than it looks from the outside of the vehicle. The 2.0 turbo engine is great for passing cars on the highway without any problem. Now the bad. The Optima SX comes with 18" Low profile tires. They look nice but they are a rough ride. I found this out the hard way. Better to get all seasons. The gas mileage does not fall within the specified range (I am only getting 18 city 26 hwy) and the my brake light keeps coming on and off. The car only has 4000 miles on it and it already needs warranty work.

Best Bang for your Buck

This car is fully loaded... with options that would cost you in upwards of $10,000 if these came in a Lexus or BMW. Kia has really improved.
