Love my Kia!!

I purchased a 2014 Kia Sorento in Nov '13 and so far I love EVERYTHING about my car. I traded in a 2004 Lexus RX 330 and thought for sure I was going to need to lower my standards. My Kia has more options than my Lexus could have even thought of and rides just as nice. I will say the only thing I have noticed is that my gas mileage has not been as good as advertised. On average I'm getting about 15mpg city and about 18/hwy which is what I had become used to with my Lexus anyway. I have always been kind of a snob when it came to the brand of car I drove, but after searching for new SUVS, I really liked the sleek body style of the Kia and decided to try it out. I have not been disappointed! ** If you are in the market for a Kia and live North of Boston, I HIGHLY recommend York Kia of Medford. I had a great experience there and wouldn't hesitate to buy another car from them in the future.

Compare 2011 to 2014

I Leased a 2011 LX FWD V6 with most of the EX options. Cloth interior wasn't bad. Interior looked nice. Missing some bells and whistles I'm used to like auto-head lights, compass, and exterior temp. Exterior looked very good. The drive train was good...smooth and responsive...a little loud (truck-y). The suspension was awful...slam bam!!...loud and very harsh...terrible! Cabin noise was too loud from suspension, road, too many squeaks and rattles. Terrible radio! Horrible in the snow...slip and slide on little snow! I figured I paid about $30 a month too much for it...over three years. The 2014, for only $5 more per month on the same lease terms, I got the EX FWD V6 loaded with leather and all the updates...all the things I didn't like about the 2011 were fixed to meet my high expectations...very satisfied! The suspension is now very good...smooth and quiet! Interior noise level is very satisfying...road, suspension, engine, wind, etc...now quiet. Radio is better but should be much better for a $30K car. Interior is very sharp looking and comfy...leather is awesome (look and feel) and better than the cloth. New engine is very good. Breaks are better. Not a single squeak or rattle! Does much better (grippier) even in deeper snow...felt much safer/confident! MPG could be better. I'd like to see the Sorento grow a little larger...closer to Explorer or Durango size and it would be the perfect size and fit for me. I'm 6'4" 225 and I'd like my seat to go back about 3 more inches. But still pretty much perfect for a practical nice vehicle such as this...holds my stuff for travel and I can throw my XL 29er mountain bike in the back without dropping the seat or taking off any tires...and still have room to fill up on groceries and other stuff. She cruises back and forth between NC and MI and the drive is great...smooth, quiet, and comfy. The 2014 EX V6 is not only a major improvement (got WAY MORE for the money!!) over the 2011 but it's also the best car I have ever owned...this is my 8th lease and I always go for mid-upper trim levels on my cars and SUVs! And being a value driven consumer...it was easily the best deal out there...I shopped everything comparable (imports and domestic) and I'd have to spend far more to get anything even close to this Sorento!! BEST VALUE for a great vehicle! PS. My review for the 2011 was not so generous...

Much better than the 2013

Great ride & engine performance, surprisingly good gas mileage, terrific infotainment system (sound system like being in a concert hall). Large GPS display. Very comfortable seats. Blind spot detection both visual and auditory is super. I rate the 2014 KIA Sorrento a BEST BUY in the mid size SUV category.

Awesome SUV

All the practical and comfortable features are well put together. 3rd row is very useful even for big kids and my mother-in-law. Handles well. Steeringwheel feels slightly heavy and I like it. UVO infortainment is fast. It has 5 star safety test so it gives me a good peace of mind. Ground clearance is high as well as driving position which makes me feel more comfortable driving even on light off-road condition. Road noise is minimal and suspension is also good. I test drove CR-V, Escape and Rogue 2014 but Sorent beat them in everything except gas mileage.

Luv Mine So Much Bought Another

Just gave my 2011 LX v4 manual to my daughter who just moved to Tucson from Cleveland. I knew I wanted to by another because of how reliable, comfortable, and sharp looking my baby was. I am now the proud owner of a 2014 AWD LX v4. She rides beautiful, and the upgrades from 2011 are notable. With leaving in the snow belt, I opted for the AWD even though it will be a slight loss in fuel economy, so they say. The night we brought her home we were anticipating a large lake effect snow event, I was able to make it 12 miles to work in heavy snow with no problems! My mother has a Chevy of similar size and comparing the two, cost, ride, interior room, looks, and features the Kia Sorrento in my opinion wins hands down. Also have to highly recommend Spitzer-Kia's salesman George Woods at State & Bookmark in Parma, OH. Excellent dealership!

First SUV I owned sold by Ronnie at JT's

For my first ever SUV I must say so far (I've had it since November 2013) I absolutely love it! It rides smooth, love the GPS (appears to be updated), love the heated seats, I really have been pleased with the radar on the sides of the vehicle that lets me know when a vehicle is coming up on that particular side by a light coming on in the rearview mirrors. If they get too close an alarm goes off and lets you know! I.m getting around 23-25mpg in the city and about 28=30mpg on the highway! I'd recommend one to anybody!

Fun, luxurious and reliable car

I owned the 2011 Kia Sorrento SX FWD for 3 years. I loved this car but wanted AWD because the FWD did not handle well in snow and ice. My 2014 Sorrento Limited AWD SX is a joy to drive. This car is comfortable and luxurious, it has all the "bells and whistles" that more expensive SUVS have live Acura or Mercedes. The AWD handles great. I have had no issue driving in 8 inches of snow and ice during the snow storm last week. Plenty of power yet great on gas. I highly recommend this SUV.

2014 SXL

I LOVE my 2014 sorento. It has 15000 miles so far in 6 months and no problems. The heated steering wheel is great during the cold weather and the cooled seats were awesome in the summer. The car is fast too. It looks soooo much better than the Equinox, its main competitor. The inside is great. I love the UVO system. so much easier than the MyFord touch in my wife's C-Max. My only complaint is the steering takes a while to get used to. The Kia is much better than my 2006 X3. So if you are looking at Audis, BMWs, MBs, and Volvos, check this one out. You get much more for your money.

DON'T BUY A SORENTO!!

I purchased a brand new 2014 Kia Sorento EX V6 AWD and have had problems from the get go. To begin, two days after purchasing the Sorento, at 28 miles, I noticed the car did not have any coolant or windshield wiper fluid. The dealership did not take responsibility for and instead blamed it on "an air pocket that formed in the fluid container and drained all the fluid". Next, cracked windshield, which I understand can be caused by environmental factors, except for the fact that the car had been in our driveway. Dealership said it was caused by a rock chip and not under warranty. Fine, I replaced it. Next, at 1,900 miles, the car would not start. AAA ran tests and said the car had a defective battery cell. After a jump start I took the car straight to the dealership, who said "nothing was wrong with it" and that I "probably left the lights on". The lights have always been set on auto. Around 3,000 miles, I noticed that the car stalls on when I try to pick up speed on the highway. It almost feels like a block is obstructing the gas peddle and after some delay it eventually picks up speed. The dealership said I "probably had the carpets rolled up under the gas peddle" and that nothing was wrong with the car. Are you kidding me? And now, at 4,000 miles, my fog lights don't work, nor does the light sensor indicating whether my lights are on or off on the dashboard work. Called the dealership, and without even inspecting it they said I once again "probably left the lights on". And once again, I said the lights have ALWAYS been on auto. I am taking the car in again tomorrow to get inspected, but I have realized that Kia has a tendency to not take responsibility for the defects in their vehicles and I predict that they will once again come up with some ridiculous excuse to deny any fault. I purchased this car because I truly believed Kia had stepped up their game and believed the 10 year/100,000 warranty would be worth it. I loved the amount of features that came with the car for the price, such as the heated leather seats and navigation system, and I will admit that those features are great and have so far functioned properly. However, I 100% regret this purchase and had to learn the hard way that all the fancy bells and whistles don't make up for the overall performance and quality of the vehicle. I plan on trading my 2014 Sorento for a more reliable car as soon as possible. Don't let the all new 2014 redesign fool you, Kia still lacks the reputable quality of other brands out there, such as Honda and Toyota.
