USED RANGE ROVERS Review from mechanic!

I’m been a Jaguar & Land Rover mechanic at the same dealership for over 20 years. I’ve had a few Range Rovers myself -all used. I’ve found if there’s a problem you’ll see it early and it’ll be on the CARFAX report clearly noting the malfunction and how many times it’s tried to of been repaired. RUN AWAY IF YOU FIND THIS TO BE THE CASE! If you find a used Range Rover with a clean CARFAX report then it’s built correctly and a worthy buy. Check the CARFAX report and then go from there. It’s the classist SUV on the road and a great car when built with the right parts worked on by quality mechanics vs parts that are defective -generic and continued to be a problem for the next owner. You can easily drive over 200k miles on a well built Range Rover. 2018 is the best year with the lowest complaint due to new electrical harnesses designed and a new computer module. It’s by far the best year this car was built.

Brand new been in dealership 18 times

WORST car to ever buy ,just turns off , traction control issues , random beeping , suspension issues , camera delay , sensor issues . This was a brand new Range Rover I purchased . With in 3 months all the issues started . When dealing with rangerover they banned me as I was upset spending $115k (April 2017 ) on a car I couldn’t even drive . Tried trading it in a lot of dealerships doesn’t want it . Sold it at an auction for $49k in 2020. It would just skid out of control on the road , I was scared on the hiway as it loses traction on turns

Worst infotainment system in the universe

We have had our Range Rover Sport supercharged in for service over 10 times in two years for numerous recurrent and new issues with infotainment. Screens go blank, back up camera randomly comes on, back up camera delayed by 2 seconds when backing up, radio station and source changes on its own, ac randomly turns itself off, screens change randomly, instrument cluster screen changes randomly

We love this vehicle

Fully loaded supercharged Sport. We love the ride and suspension and no other luxury SUV comes close. This is my wife’s car. She’s insisted on Land Rovers since 06, and this is her third one(after two Range Rover HSE’s). All despite my objections to the (over)pricing of these nice vehicles. Great power, handling, comfort, and ooh! That sexy exhaust sound. Our adult kids and grandkids beg to drive it just for that sound!

Disappointed

The infotainment system is garbage for the price! My second RRS but my first one I am only owner and I’m sad that it’s not reliable as it looks. Radio shuts down when it feels like it. GPS terrible and confusing. Air won’t shut off. Soft lock drs don’t work on all drs. About to go back into shop and I’m just sad even though it’s under warranty. I know when warranty over they still won’t get it right!

Mechanically great, technological nightmare

This car drives and rides very well. Supercharged V8 is an excellent motor. Creature comforts are superior. Weve taken it in 3 times for technology issues. Screens wont come on, back up cameras always malfunctioning, key fobs stop working etc. If Land Rover could find a tech company worth a xxxx, this would be an OUTSTANDING car

I very much enjoy driving, in types of weather.

Styling, detailing and comfort GREAT! I have the V-8, with more power off the line and top end than expected. I have 14,000 miles on my Rover. Suspect, and alarming when, at any speed, any time, no warning , engine loses all power. Happened 5 separate times. Engine warning lite does not alert. The only way to drive again while rolling is to select neutral and press START. Communicated to Dealer, only brought to service once, most recently when the engine STOP occurred 5 times in a row; restarted but unable to DRIVE over 20 MPH before it stopped again. Called for a tow, but before assistance arrived, 30 minutes passed, I started and drove ‘normally’ to the Dealer. Unable to affirm proper FIX as of yet.
