2013 Lexus ES 300h consumer reviews

Finally Lexus has come out with the first truly luxury Hybrid. I've been driving mine for about two weeks and my gas mileage has averaged 40mph, so they are spot on with the MPG claim. The car drives and handles like a Lexus and has many bells and whistles, but falls a bit short in a few areas. 1. The care is not as quiet as I would expect from a Lexus. Perhaps they had to reduce the padding to keep the weight down, but I hear much more wind and road noise than I would like 2. It is difficult to hear a caller on the hands free system. The mic could use some improvement or perhaps it's due the road and wind noise interference. 3. Finally, the driver seat is not as comfortable as one would expect from a Lexus.

Luxury, confort and performance in one package. Getting 38 MPG. I eally like this car a lot. Better than any Lexus that I owned before

This car is everything you expect from a Lexus but with the economical Go Green edge of being a hybrid! It's badass all around and the fact that it runs on cheap gas NOT the premium AND gets 40mpg makes the smart spender in me feel really good about this non compromising car! I didn't just blow $50,000 on a badass Lexus. It's a HYBRID! Worth every penny to me. Luxurious and smart. ;)

Purchased the 2013 Es300h new from a local dealer. First, the dealer experience at Erin Park Lexus in Mississauga (just west of Toronto) was superior, best I've ever experienced. This was my first import buy. I've had only North American made cars so this was something I really had to think about. So happy I got it. My last cars were a 300C and LHS both from Chrysler. Loved both this my Lexus is several notches ahead. Loved the ES300h from the outside and inside. Starlight Pearl with black interior loaded with the technology package make this car tough to beat. Getting 41.6 miles/gal in the city and almost the same on the hwy. After 3 mos no problems...and love driving it in all 3 modes including Eco. Lot's of power when you need it. Really surprised me how much get up and go it has despite only 200 hp. Only suggestions to Lexus, yes place for your sunglasses (other than the middle storage compartment) and put the GPS clock time on the Nav. It was on my Chrysler and even though it had a clock, I more often looked at the Nav.

THIS IS MY 71ST. CAR SINCE I GOT MY LICENSE IN 1961. NO I'M NOT A DEALER JUST A CAR NUT! I HAVE DRIVEN AND HAD MOST AMERICAN BRANDS AND SEVERAL FOREIGN BRANDS INCLUDING, V.W. ,AUDI,MERCEDES BENZ.NISSAN, TOYOTA,INFINITI, 4 BMW'S AND 11 LEXUS CARS. IN THE LAST 19 YEARS I COULD NEVER SEE MYSELF DRIVING A 4 CYLINDER AGAIN OR A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE UNTIL I DROVE THE NEW LEXUS ES300h. I TRADED A 2008 LS 460 IN ON IT. THE 460 IS A HECK OF A LUXO-BARGE AND GOT REALLY GOOD MILEAGE (AT LEAST 28MPG GOING 80 MPH!) BUT MY WIFE NEVER LIKED THE SIZE. DROVE THE 300h AND WE BOTH FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. IT IS ONLY 6.5" SHORTER, 2" NARROWER AND AN INCH OR SO IN HEIGHT LESS THAN THE 460 BUT I BELIEVE IN RIDES JUST AS WELL EVEN THOUGH A LITTLE DIFFERENT, MORE SPORTY IN A WAY. NOT AS MUCH BODY ROLL. NO TORQUE STEER LIKE OLDER FRONT DRIVES AND THE ENGINE AT 80 MPH AND EVEN ABOVE IS AS SILENT AS THE LS460 WHICH I FOUND HARD TO BELIEVE. ALL THE WHILE GETTING 37 PLUS MPG GOING 75-80!! DROVE IT FROM FLORIDA TO TEXAS THE FIRST WEEK WE HAD IT AND IT WAS A DREAM ON THE ROAD. I LIKE THE FEEL AND THE SEATS BETTER THAN THE THE 460. TOOK ROUTE 98 FROM PENSACOLA EAST FOR ABOUT 300 MILES WHERE YOU COULD ONLY DO 50 TO 65MPH AND GOT 45MPG! FANTASTIC FOR A CAR SO NICE AND LUXURIES! I DON'T MISS THE MASSIVE EXTRA POWER AS I HAD THOUGHT I WOULD BECAUSE IF YOU REALLY NEED TO SCOOT YOU JUST TURN THE CONVENIENT KNOB TO SPORT MODE AND BOTH GAS AND ELECTRIC KICK IN FOR REALLY GOOD PASSING POWER SHOULD YOU NEED IT. IT'S BEEN FUN TRYING TO SEE HOW MUCH YOU CAN SQUEEZE OUT OF A GALLON OF GAS. BEEN AVERAGING 37.6 AROUND TOWN. AGAIN NOT BAD FOR AS NICE A CAR AS IT IS. I WOULD SURELY BUY AGAIN. TWO THINGS I WOULD CHANGE. MAKE A PLACE FOR SUN GLASSES AND INCORPORATE REST AREA LOCATIONS IN THE GPS SYSTEM. WHY DOES NO ONE DO THAT??

I am still getting the hang of this car. I love the interior and accessories and the best cup holder, very important.

This is one of the best vehicles that I have ever driven not to mention the Gas Mileage with this Hybrid model. I managed to get around 625 miles on the first full tank of gas. Personally I think that everyone should have a Hybrid Vehicle. It gives off less feul emmissions than a regular gas engine vehicle. This vehicle will save you lots of money at the Gas Station not to mention that you get a Tax break when you do your taxes.

Cannot say enough about how much I like this car, I am averaging 36.5-37 MPG has quite a bit of tech features that I like, lots of room inside expecially in the back seat had friends drive with me and they could not get over how roomy it is. I am not a car lover but this car has won me over.

First of all, the dealer where I live loads up all Lexus models so the base MSRP is meaningless. What surprised me the most about this car is just how much has been de-contented to the point where the price is the only "luxury" aspect of the car. 1) there is a gaping hole in the dashboard where CDs are supposed to be inserted, surrounded by silver-painted plastic. Look at a "lower" level IS and you'll see that the hole is a lot smaller and it is surrounded by chrome (even if it is chrome-coated plastic). 2) The engine compartment is no longer covered with various shrouds as in the IS or even last year's ES350. While this may not be important to most owners, it is an obvious cost cutting measure (can't be to save weight since those plastic covers can't weigh more than a couple of pounds). 3) When I slammed the driver's side front door, it sounded really cheap, so much so, it caught my attention. So I slammed it closed again and noticed that the outer door skin fluttered as if it was really, really thin or not supported inside the door. 4) The ventilated seats are useless and the round controller on the center console in the non-navigation models feels very flimsy. Even the palm rest in the navigation model is stitched whereas the lower trims just get a piece of rounded black plastic. 5) There is no audible alert for pedestrians when in EV mode I think Nissan's Leaf has that. Speaking as a person who was almost run over by a RX driving in EV mode, I can tell you how important that is. I guess buyers who are new to the brand might not notice or appreciate these things, but as a person who is familiar with the excellence of Lexus, this is a shame in a vehicle that costs this much. On the positive side, the integration with the gas engine was very well done and the car does ride fairly good. And I would still recommend it to a friend. It's just that this is NOT a world-class car anymore but as long as one's expectations are set correctly, then all is well. Just a side note: 5 stars for performance based on the gas mileage, not 0-60 time, this is a hybrid after all.

Just bought the ES 300H so far so good more comfortable than other Hybrid. The price is out of my budget but I like it for my comfort and rising gas price. A lot of features for that car.
