Lexus

Toyota's luxury division launched in 1989 with the LS 400 full-size sedan, but it’s the RX 300 SUV, one of the world’s first car-based crossovers, that became a benchmark for both luxury and mainstream brands, propelling Lexus to the position of bestselling luxury marque in the U.S. for many years.

The LS lives on as the LS 500, offering rear- or all-wheel drive, plus the AWD-only LS 500h hybrid. The RX continues, too, expanding its lineup to include hybrid, performance-oriented hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. Lexus offers smaller models in the IS and ES sedans and UX and NX SUVs. The larger truck-based GX and LX SUVs both offer three rows of seats and enhanced off-road and towing capability, and the brand finally gained a proper three-row crossover-style SUV in the 2024 TX. For stylish performance, there’s the RC coupe and LC coupe and convertible. Though Lexus has been more tentative in entering the all-electric market than most luxury marques, it now offers the RZ compact SUV.
