Reunited with my first love

Go back two decades to 2003. As a freshly turned 28-year-old, I strolled into a Lexus dealership on December 28th because I was waiting until I had the leverage on the dealership. The end of the year is the best time to buy a car because they are trying to make numbers. The minute I saw it, I knew that was the one. A gently used 2000 Lexus GS400 Platinum Edition, with a mere 27,000 miles, fresh from a lease. It wasn't just a car. It was love at first sight. It had a $42K sticker on it which is more than I was going to spend. The salesman approached, I inquired about the car and long story short, I told him I would give him 25K for it, gave him my card and told him to call me if he wanted to sell a car. I was pulling out of the Lexus dealership when he called. I negotiated the certified pre-owned package into our deal and walked out with a $28K car that I truly loved. Time flew, and by 2014, life's turns and twists meant my beloved Lexus took a back seat, quite literally, as it was parked and I used a company car. Years rolled by until, one spring day in 2023, a ridiculously priced Toyota Tundra served as a stark reminder of the economy's tumble and the insanity of car prices at interest rates. That was the nudge I needed to turn back to my first love, resting in the garage for almost a decade. I instaled a new battery and doused it with high octane gasoline additive. Would it even start after all these years? But the moment I turned the key, it responded with a robust, vivacious roar, surprising and delighting me in equal measure. To ensure it was roadworthy, a clandestine twilight drive was made to a trusted mechanic, with my wife tailing closely. Driving with that 2014 tag was nerve racking but I made it there. Expecting a hefty bill, I was elated when my trusty mechanic charged a mere $35 for an oil change and coolant flush. Apart from some rusty brakes and aged tires, my Lexus was practically in its prime! Fresh tires on, paperwork sorted, the next few days were sheer exhilaration. The rumble of the engine, the seamless drive, and the car's unmatched zeal made every ride an event. It's as if the car was chiding me, "Why'd you leave me in the garage? I had missed our thrilling escapades?" Surprisingly, it felt more alive and responsive than a couple of the recent sports cars I've tried. Now, my timeless 2000 GS400 Platinum stands proud with 175,000 miles, embodying both impeccable engineering and cherished memories. One thing's for sure, I'm driving this gem until it's done and dusted. It is the best car I have ever owned and I am thrilled that i am falling in love again with my first.

I've had it 22 years and still drives like new

I bought this vehicle used in 2002 and I still have it I test drove new cars and I'm convinced this car runs better and smoother than new cars off the lot. Hands down the most reliable and fastest car I've ever had. I wouldn't let my kids drive it it was too fast it will throw your head back if you punch it going 55 miles an hour. I don't think I'll ever sell it.

Possibly the best all around vehicle in its class.

Absolutely the highest quality build and engineering efforts show in this car. Still built in Japan. There is no better vehicle made at any price

Lexus GS 400 Platinum Edition

Best car I have ever owned . 145,000 miles with only maintenance items. Nothing new seems to compare. I believe Lexus in general produces a fine auto.

Beautiful and Reliable

This is only my second Lexus and I’m absolutely hooked! If there was a cool aid, I definitely drank it! I bought my first Lexus out of sheer desperation and pure exhaustion. Being a fearful single mother and needing quality, affordability, and above all else dependability, I made the decision to take a risk that would change the way I buy cars. Id consistently had one brand new car after another always trading up every four years to avoid the inevitable break down on the side of the road. I’d only come to trust my Lexus after years of waiting for the ball to drop. I mean, how could ANY used car with over 100K miles actually last! My RX 350 never failed me, not even once. When I bought my used GS 400 it had over 200K miles and incredibly it too has been extremely durable! I’m blown away by the quietness of its engine and smoothness of the ride even after 300K miles. I’m a sucker for beautiful things but it’s the perfection of its engine that makes this brand absolutely crush worthy!

Definitely the most reliable, easy to drive car

This model has very advanced features and exceptional high quality because Lexus was still new to the luxury market. So they really put a lot of extras into this vehicle. Things that most cars built in 2014-2017 still do not include.

Best car I have ever owned

I have 275,000 miles on my Lexus. I have never had a repair bill of $1,000 or more. The car is beyond reliable, very fast, very comfortable and I get very good gas mileage considering the car.
