This is my 2nd Mazda - great car.

Nice styling, reliable and gas mileage is excellent. I understand that it is a very safe car given its small size.

Nice looking car and rides well

This car is nice looking, rides well and has an excellent safety rating. It has 2 USB ports, an auxiliary port, 2 cup holders in the center console and a cup holder in each rear door. It has push button start ignition and a sport switch you can turn off and on when you need to give your car a little zoom zoom.

being smart is a good thing

Probably the `smartest? car purchase I have ever made. I became an auto enthusiast at a young age and therefore being young and witless started to spend all my money on some very bad but and fun cars in my past. Purchasing this car was my game exit plan. My previous car a Mitsubishi evolution cost me about $40k even though I purchased it for $23k, little did I know that its fancy transmission was over $12k. I had various other cars with similar stories which I?m not going to get into. I decided on the Mazda3 after I test drove a bunch of your average consumer compact and midsize sedans such as the civic, corolla, lancer, impresa, cruze, Malibu, even lexus is200t and bunch of others. My top 3 picks came to the is200t (though a totally different class of vehicle), civic 1.5t and Mazda 3 2.0 gs. I never test drove the 2.5 motor, which I regret now but at the time I bought this car the 2.0 was $5000 cheaper. In fact I got the car for $20,700 total which is a steal in Canada. However If I could go back I would pay the extra 5k for the bigger motor, standard HID and leather interior. Anyway I drove out of the dealer with a brand new Mazda3 GS 2.0 with the only kind of transmission that should exist, a 6 speed manual. Here in Canada the GS model is the mid trim model but you can still get it with a stick. Same with the more powerful 2.5 models. From the test drive I loved the feeling of the shifter, its responsive steering and buttery smooth clutch. The throttle is also tuned well from factory, not too sharp and not too lazy either. The brake feel is excellent and the sharp leather telescopic steering wheel is very confident inspiring. The engine though lacking horsepower is very responsive and has a smooth powerband. I?m sure Mazda engineers could pull ~165hp out of this motor easily, not sure why they didn?t. Nevertheless power and winning races is not this vehicle?s purpose and it is very competitive in its class. The turbo civic I test drove is definitely more powerful and may even be a better car too, but I?m not a fan of Honda and out here in the #truenorth Honda Civics are more popular than Hockey. I wanted a car a little more unique with a simple maintainability which the Mazda3 offers. Don?t get me wrong its chassis is very nimble, I even took it to an autocross even with fatter tires and it held its own in class of cars with more horsepower. I think this car has a better chassis than the civic, though the Honda drivetrain is slightly more impressive. From my test drive the Mazda 3 also gets better fuel economy. I?m averaging 33 mpg mostly city, straight freeway driving would net me 42mpg! This is incredible to me, I?m not used to such good fuel economy specially running on the cheapest gas available. The civic I test drove would not break 35mpg peak and average about 29mpg. If you don?t mind a polarizing car that gets you lost in the crowd go for the Honda. If you want something just as fun to drive but one which may get you noticed (albeit with a power penalty but better price) go for the Mazda. I will also bet you that the Mazda3 will probably turn out to be more reliable than the Turbo Honda as well. Oh and don?t forget rust proofing.

Most economical car I've owned!

Just bought out 1st Mazda a few weeks ago. The Mazda 3 rides wonderfully, has "pep in it's step" and handles like an animal gripping the road in the SPORT mode! It can be very easy on the wallet when utilizing the "econo- mode" too! The car is easy on the eyes with it's sporty look, has great room, with seats that wrap around you in the front or back! It has plenty of storage capacity in the trunk or when utilizing the rear fold down seats. Be the envy of the block and buy now!

Can't beat it for price/performance ratio.

Best daily driver and long trip car I have ever owned. Quiet, comfortable , Bose sound system, heads-up display, lane departure, adaptive cruise control, etc., etc. Too many features to list!

Disappointed

Leased a 2015 Mazda 3, and loved it. Decided to upgrade to a different color and a 2017, leased it sight unseen. After driving the 2017, noticed the "next street name" was not on the monitor. I have a hard time seeing, and relied on this feature in the 2015. Then, went to put in a CD, and there is no CD player. My heart just sunk. I'm old school, and we live around mountains where we don't get good phone/blue tooth reception. I loved being able to put in a CD. I'm sooo disappointed, the two main features I loved about the 2015, they did not include in the 2017. I regret trading in my 2015. and wish I could turn back time.

Quieter ride, more horsepower than my 2010 model.

This is our second Mazda 3. We upgraded to a 2017 from a 2010. The 2017 has quite a few new features and upgrades. It has a backup camera, something I always thought was a waste of money. But now I wouldn't want a car without it, it's a great feature. It also has blind spot sensors, another feature I have grown to really like. It's stylish, has lots of pep, plenty of horsepower to zoom around town, and they made it quieter than previous models. The extra horsepower and quieter ride is very noticeable. You can sync your cell phone via bluetooth, and you can plug in your mp3 to listen to music. The big screen on the dash is great for tuning into radio stations, and for changing settings in the car.

A lot of car for the money

Great chassis. Slick gearbox and "skydrive" makes the car handle very well. Wish they made a coupe
