Best C yet, though definitely no BMW

This isn't a BMW, which seems to be the source of many negative reviews. If you want a sport sedan that puts the emphasis on sport, save yourself the trouble and get a BMW 3 series. If, however, you want a luxury car that is sporty, with firm solid handling and all-day (read VERY firm) seats, then the C class Mercedes is about the best car for the money. This is a my 3rd C class, replacing a 2005 C230 K sedan, which repplaced a 2001 C240. The 2005 was the sportiest, the 2001 the most traditional, but the current C300 is undoubtedly the best. The car is fast without being difficult to control. It is extremely smooth-riding, without being floaty. The brakes are supremely powerful, without being grabby. In short, this car was designed for people who spend a lot of time driving. I drive about 55,000 miles per year, and wouldn't think of doing so in anything but a C class Mercedes. Yes, the bigger E and S class are more luxurious, but nothing is as nimble and comfortable while still giving 30 MPG in highway cruise mode (75 MPH). Love the exterior styling, but honestly, I buy these cars for the super-firm seats that are still comfortable at the end of a 10 hour day.

Not recommended!

This is my second MB. I previously leased an 07 C230. I loved it, but in the 2 years I had it I think it was at the dealership about 6 times, had a new transmission at 5,000 miles, a touchy check engine light, and numerous sensor problems. So when my dealership called me to get me out of my lease early and into a new car I was hesitant. My entire family has driven MB for years and has never had problems, so I decided to give them another shot. BAD CHOICE! I purchased a new 2009 C300 Sport 4Matic. Within 2 days of having the car, I noticed an extreme shift problem between 1 and 2. I had the dealership come pick it up, only to find out that they had given me a brand new vehicle 1 1/2 quarts low on transmission fluid. Obviously I wasn't happy with the service or the fact that the transmission was damaged, so they completely replaced the car I purchased with a new vehicle and put the original one into the loaner fleet. The new car drives much better and shifts smoother, but within less than 2 months my brakes started making a terrible grinding noise. It took the dealership 2 attempts to take care of that problem, and I live an hour away from the dealership so although they picked up the car, the whole process is extremely inconvenient. I considered trading in my car with 2,500 miles, but I absolutely love the way it drives and looks. So, I'm keeping it for now, but you better believe I'll be trading it in on a new BMW or Audi before the warranty is up. From talking to other new Mercedes-Benz owners, I'm consistently hearing about them having problems as well (on C, E, and S-classes.. it's across the board), so I think it's safe to say I'm not the only one. I'm done with MB and they won't be getting another chance. Long story short, the car drives amazing, but it isn't worth a dime when it comes to reliability. That's fine when the car is under warranty, but you don't want to be footing the bill when the 5 year/40,000 mile warranty is up.

Car falling apart on the way home.

I love Mercedes but never owned one. I always preferred Mercedes over BMW, but with the new C300 I love everything, the inside and especially the outside design. So, when my wife needed a new car I convinced her to switch from Lexus to Mercedes. She really likes the design too, so I thought 'perfect'. The experience with the local dealer was very good: quick deal, very good price, nice guy. So, I thought this is going to be an awesome Sunday afternoon for my wife and I with a new beautiful C300. Little did I know. When arriving home we noticed that a chunk of rubber was sticking out above the drivers's door. Well, we could have checked the car more thoroughly ourselves which we somehow didn't. Second thing: a little piece of carpet inside (between passenger seat and center) was missing too. Ok, so we drove back. Guess what? No mechanics there. No big deal. Let's bring it in during the week. We are getting home again: Boom, there comes number three: The long rubber piece below the driver's door came off. Now, our afternoon is ruined. Come on, Mercedes. I always loved your cars and I still do but don't ruin the excitement on the first day. I have to admit: I still like the car, the interior design, the sound, etc. But please, Mercedes, you need to focus on the quality. Wish us good luck with our new beautiful car.

Fun Little Entry Level Mercedes

The Mercedes-Benz C350 is fun to drive. The 3.5 liter, V-6 model, with its 268 horsepower engine, is zippy without overkill. The C350 transmission gives added punch, even at highway speeds, when you need that extra passing power. The 258 lbs.-ft. of torque delivers more than adequate performance, were I appreciate it most were the rubber meets the road. The C350 handling is excellent. It's a thrill to take a corner and a bump and still know you're in total control. The sport suspension provides a firm confident feel. The interior is comfortable for daily commutes or that weekend drive in the country. But, you probably don't want to plan any long distance trips. While the wrap around controls are easy to reach. The seating can be a bit uncomfortable. But, don't take my word for it. Go drive one!

A good choice

The C300 is obviously a Mercedes when you look at it. It is clean looking inside. It drives solidly and feels like a larger car. The cruise control is still in the wrong place - Mercedes keeps putting it where you could mistake it for the turn signal. Also, they should have made the nav system standard not optional. Overall happy with the car.
