2014 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class consumer reviews

Purchased the GL 450 as a means to haul the family all over town and it exceeded all expectations. Coming from a VW, this thing is a tank. It handles the road well, is quiet, has amazing features, and is worth every dollar I paid for it.

This vehicle is a luxury SUV comparable only to the Range Rover Vogue, but even better because of the 3rd row sitting. I would say it's an S Class on stilts

Performs great after 10 mph, a little sluggish when first starting to move. Mercedes-Benz service and warranty repairs are outstanding. Would buy again if I need an SUV.

The Mercedes Benz GL 450 is unreliable and has constant needs for service. I have owned this vehicle for 4 years and had so many service visits. In the first week of owning this brand new car the cup holder broke. Then the cup cooling system broke. Then the suspension started knocking. I had three trips for service over two years to improve the suspension and struts. I?ve also had problems with the coolant. It requires regular attention. Im waiting to diagnose this problem now. Before this Mercedes I owned the Ford Expedition for 5 years with no problems. Next I owned a Toyota Sequoia with literally no problems, just regular maintenance. I?ve had the Mercedes for 4 years and can?t wait to get rid of it! Lost count of how many times I?ve wasted a day waiting for service.

Since we owned the 2014 350gl since 05/2015 I?ve had problems with the 360/backup camera and transmission problems that have been at 2 Mercedes benz dealerships off & on for 5 to 6 times with transmission idle & up hill incline hesitation problems. We are so feed up with all of these problems & we don?t know what Mercedes USA can do for us if anything. We have extended warranty that will end in September & we don?t know if we should pay $4000 more towards further extending the warranty for 2 more years, or get rid of our car & replce it with a Tesla. Can someone tell me what are our rights in regards of the problems we?ve had with our GL that only has 60k miles. We use to own a 2004 ML that ran like a dream and never had any problems but unfortunately it was totaled by our insurance because the body damage not the engine was more then the car value

We saved for three years to buy this car, our dream car. Leather seats are so easy to clean, with many comfort settings. Coming from owning a minivan, i felt it would be claustrophobic so we have it with three glass roofs, one over each seating row. The engine is beautiful. We have the 350 Blue tec Diesel and it reminds me of a big kitty with a deep purr. It loves to work- we have the factory installed towing package and the engine doesn't feel it when we tow a large trailer, just shifts through its paces like a breeze. Like any MB vehicle, it's expensive to repair so keep it under warranty. at 80k miles we have had to replace the turbo and Adblue heater. Of course both of these are unique to the diesel engine, but i wouldn't own a gas version of this for the world. The diesel fuel economy on this baby is fantastic, you wouldn't think its an SUV. Biggest drawbacks are the space. the third row seating is cramped for an adult. Like most SUV I suppose. it is impossible to use 2 carseats simultaneously AND use the third row seating. They cannot fit in the third row because there is no legroom for the child, and if you put two carseats in the middle row, then the center seat is only good for a small child, and you would need to remove one of the carseats every time you wanted to access the third row. A xxxx of a time. next problem, if you DO have all seats occupied, the rear storage compartment is minuscule. NO way to fit anything back there at all unless the third row seats are folded down. Overall I love my GL-350. We have made several cross country trips with it and its nice to arrive at ones destination without being bloody sore. It goes 900 miles before needing a fill-up, and you will feel like a boss the whole way.

This is my thirteenth MB. What a joy to drive this is an exquisitely comfortable vehicle surrounded by features not seen on my previous MB. It is gorgeous with exceptional quality. It's twin turbo V8 has more than adequate power, yet on our first extended trip (today) gave us a bit over 20 mpg: not bad for a car weighing just under 3 tons.

We just missed the chance to get the perfect pre-owned GL550. If you see one with low miles, certified and loaded BUY IT, you won?t regret it. Performance, luxury and let?s not forget ?utility? make this a must buy!

This SUV has meet all my specifications. The safety features alone are just *WOW*. This is a SUV that will be in my family a long time, it is timeless. I'm truly blessed by God to come upon this SUV-this was not the one I drove 100 plus miles to test drive- they had just received this SUV that Friday evening; I had called that afternoon to make an appt. on another SUV-GLS 450---- NOT---the GL 450--God had a different plan for me--I accept it whole heartily!!!! AMEN
