Total loss mine by parking it in the rain

Parked my car in the rain for a few days, with all windows closed. Water somehow got into the car and wet the floor. Believe it or not, almost all the electronics are under the seats. The water ended up damaged all the electronics, resulted in a total loss.

Has Faulty Engineering Design

A four ounce water spill on the floorboard caused an $8k non-warrantied bill. Mercedes located the "Control Unit Computer" under the carpet on the floor.

Update Review...10,000 miles later

I wrote a previous review shortly after we took ownership. A few issues I think are important...not sure they feel the same. Dashboard screen is HOT to the touch. Service Dept did not seem to think it was a problem. Took SUV in for 10,000 mile first service. I was told the Cooper Tires needed to be replaced. After 10,000 miles? Unacceptable. My dealer has agreed to replace all four tires for which I am grateful...but is this going to be an ongoing problem? I've owned many vehicles and normally get 40- 50 thousand miles on a set of tires. Not sure what our next step will be, Spouse wants to trade...I love the car but do not want continual problems. Again..my dealer was very accomodating after several phone calls. They are not the problem....may be the car.

First and Last MB

Brand new 2020 GLS 450. The tires needed to be replaced before 10k miles! Then again at 20k! The second time I had to pay over $700 for 2 of the 4. Although I opted out of the tire maintenance pkg I did some research and the Cooper tires on my vehicle should last at least 60k miles! When coming in for scheduled (and prepaid) maintenance they always want to get me for $$$!!! Alignment, tire rotation etc. The drivers side seat material is cracking and it will be "replaced this one time as a courtesy". Several electrical issues, too long to list. I only purchased this vehicle for the size and towing capacity. Can't wait to turn it in and get a Hyundai Palisade!

Great Vehicle

I absolutely love the feel and performance of this suv. The electronics are state of the art. Excellent road performance in rain, snow or wind. My only complaint is the running board- it needs to be at least 1 inch wider. Actually dangerous in snow and ice.

Love it so far

Special. A delight to drive. Love the way it handles. Extremely responsive, both acceleration and steering. Cabin is very quiet and at night almost too relaxing.

Large yet stylish enough to carpool the Grands

We just bought this car. Comfortable, roomy, easy to drive. Not quite a luxury ride that the Lexus GL has but performs well. Takes a second to get comfortable with the bells and whistles. Beautiful car, 2 2 2 seating. Easy for kids to get in without climbing over or moving a seat. We bought this SUV for me to drive around town as well as to school carpool my grandchildren. So far...very pleased. This is my third Mercedes. My only complaint with Mercedes is the fuel tank on the passenger side. I feel a little more vulnerable being on the opposite side of the driver side when pumping fuel. I assume it has been this way for years. I guess safety at the gas station was not as big of a concern as it is today. If considering a luxury SUV test drive. I think you will be pleased/

Worst quality of GLS's. Unreliable

This is our second GLS. Only 8 months old, had to replace the motor on the driver side door, because it stopped working a day before hurricane and window was down all the way. Now, due to a design defect on GLS 450, car is on shop for over a week. MBUX multimedia system went dark. Apparently, water gets in the system through the air vent under the passenger seat and damages the head unit. No repair available until next year based on MB service. VERY UNRELIABLE MODEL!!!!
