The Handling Is Horrible

I recently leased a 2007 Nissan Maxima and can not wait until my lease is up. The car pulls terribly at higher speeds making the vehicle unsafe and extremely uncomfortable to drive. I must drive the vehicle with 2 hands firmly on the wheel, and even then, my wrists kill me after driving on the highway for any period of time. Forget about what happens to the vehicle when I look off the road for a second. The dealer claims there is nothing wrong with the vehicle (although, they are working on it for the 3rd time). If the dealer is correct, and this is not a defective vehicle, shame on Nissan for putting out such an utterly disgraceful excuse for a vehicle. I lodged a complaint about the vehicle with Nissan consumer affairs and hope to have this matter rectified immediately. If corporate Nissan agrees with the dealer, I will seriously consider walking away from the lease (with all penalties etc.). Yes, it is that bad!!!

My second Maxima

This is my second Maxima and I am wowed by this car. My first was the most reliable car I ever owned and expect this 07 SL to be as good. Great highway car and very comfortable. Great get up and go and the interior is awesome. What I like about the Maxima is you never have to take it back to the dealer to get things fixed that were overlooked in building. Drive it away and only see my dealer for routine maintenance. Detroit needs to take notice and start building cars that are reliable and that are well equiped.

Great Combination of Performance, Luxury and Value

I recently bought a fully-equipped SE. The fit and finish of both the interior and exterior is first rate, as are the acceleration and handling (the vehicle is as fast as my son's 2007 VW GTI). Contrary to some others' complaints, I don't notice any torque steer under when accelerating. The SE's ride is what I expected from a sport sedan; that means it's on the firm side. Maxima's CVT is outstanding from the point of view of fuel economy, smoothness and quietness, and the sound of the V-6 when shifting in the manual mode is very, very satisfying. HVAC and sound systems perform flawlessly; the garage-door opener, memory seat programming, navigation system and hands-free phone system are easy to set up and work very well. Nissan's keyless-entry fob is convenient and does more than just open the car doors and start the motor. You can easily program it to automatically adjust the steering wheel angle, outside mirrors and driver's seat to your settings when you enter the car. Overall, everything is working as advertised; personally, the car is spoiling me beyond my expectations. There are a few negatives, but they have to do with Nissan's marketing. Stability control needs to become a standard feature instead of a hard-to-find option on dealers' lots. Nissan should offer more wireless phone choices for its hands-free system; I could only find three compatible BlueTooth models at both my local phone store and on its web site. The buying experience at the Nissan dealer was relaxed and positive, and I got a good deal. I waited a long time to buy a Maxima; the SE is a car worth waiting for.

A great car to own and drive

I just bought a Maxima (SL, sunroof, nav, pref package). I had an Altima V6 before, which seemed to have a more powerful acceleration probably because with a same engine was a lighter car. It is extremely comfortable, the navigation system is great and easy to use, hands-free bluetooth is also a nice feature. It is spatious although will not sit three adults very comfortable in the back seat. I preferred to get the traditional sunroof than the sky thing most come with. It has tons of nice features: dual AC control, great Bosse stereo, homelink (to open the gate in my condo), power seats. xenon lights, everything. It is a great car to drive. The ride is smooth and quiet.

Still the best car for the $$$

Previously owned a '01 Maxima and decided to trade for the new '07. Opted for the base model SE and added the power sunroof. Upgrade to leather, etc. adds quite a bit to the price, although it still comes in less than many comaparable cars with those options. Nissan offers an upgraded Bose sound system, but the base system is fine. The changes up front for '07 (re-styled lights, grill, hood) are a huge improvement over recent years in my opinion. The change back to a "real" spoiler (see the sad excuse for a spoiler on the '05-'06) on the trunk lid is also a great addition to the styling, as are the more prominent chrome exhaust finishers on the tail. The new CVT transmission takes a little getting used to, but after a while you hardly notice the difference from a traditional auto. trans. All the power you could ask for from a V6. The VQ engine is still one of the best on the market. Handling is great for such a heavy car. The 18" / 245 tires hold the corners/off ramps tightly at a good speed. Radio, temperature controls are easy to reach / use and all the gauges are back lit and easy to read. Only two minor complaints I have are that the automatic setting on the head lights leaves them on for almost a minute after turning the car off (a battery drainer??) and the new intelligent key system doesn't require that you actually insert the key in the ignition to start (I've already left the transmitter / key chain in the car several times when exiting). Just another thing to remember when running around doing errands or rushing to the office. Those things aside, I strongly recommend you test drive this car if you're in the market for a mid-size sports sedan.

A great car

I bought my 2007 Maxima SL about four weeks ago and I haven't been able to stop driving it since. Before purchase, I researched and test drove various cars including the supposed comparable models at Infiniti, Audi, Honda and Toyota but I kept coming back to the Maxima. It is just an awesome automobile. Great handling, power, and speed. The exterior is very sporty and classy at the same time. I purchased it with radiant silver exterior and black leather interior with the sunroof and I get stares wherever I go. The Bose 6 CD stereo and speakers leave nothing to be desired. Another great feature is the intelligent key. Nissan really thought this one through exceptionally well in overall design.

"2007 Maxima Like the ride for the money"

Tried Avalon, Solara, Acura TL and Acura RL. I like the sportier looks and feel of the Maxima compared to the Avalon. The Solara was just under powered. For the money the Acura doors sounded hollow and not as solid as the Maxima. The small rear window on the Maxima limits some of the rear vision and the seats and not quite as ideal for good positioning. But this is my 2nd Maxima and I like the way it handles.
