Excellent SUV!

I bought my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder LE 4x4 new. It has proven to be very reliable and dependable over the years. The performance is impressive. I've been able to load it up inside and top, and tow a boat and a trailer with ease. It is very good off road, in the snow, on the ice, and in the rain. There are only two non-positives about this vehicle. One: I think the tiny amount of space for lets and feet in the third row seats is a bit of a joke. Two: the gas mileage is not great, but it's not bad for an almost 5000 pound SUV.

Great car

We leased the 05 'LE when it first came out and had 0 problems when i traded it in after 3 years and 32000 miles. It was my 2nd pathfinder and the only reason i traded up was to get more room since my kids are getting bigger. The car was rock solid off road and on. Having the previous model i did notice that when they added the 3rd row the 2nd row leg room got a bit cramped. The other thing i noticed on this one versus my previous version was that the build quality was down quite a bit from versions built in japan. Still alot of fun while i had it

Never another Nissan

We bought our 2005 Nissan used with less than 20k miles on it. Since that time we've had the rear heating unit go out completely and the main heating unit will blow cold air while idling unless I keep the RPMs up at 1500. We took it to our mechanic who said Nissan is notorious for this type of problem. The fix entailed taking the entire dash out, and spending about $700. The sensor in the fuel tank went out and required the fuel tank be dropped out just to fix it. The brakes squeal whether I'm braking or not...even when I'm just driving down the road. I love the Bose audio system and DVD player for my kids, but the seats are rock hard. I'm completely disenchanted with Nissan, and will never buy one again.

Great value in 7 passanger suv

We bought this car new and now have 32,000 miles with no significant problems. One thing to watch is front caps on the roof rack, they fall off without warning. Best value we found in a 7 passanger suv that would tow 5,000 lb trailer and still fit in the garage.

Worst car I've owned

Let me phrase it this way... Do not buy this car. This car is a dispicable trashcan and has few features unless you spend thousands of dollars extra, bumping up the price about $5k. The ride is uncomfortable and the AC unit broke within the first few weeks of owning the vehical. Nissan then made it very difficult for me to get my car reparied, though it would take a long amount of time for me to say how. If you want a decent car, this is one isn't a good bet. Fuel economy could be a bit better too.

The biggest pain of a new car I have owned!

2005 is the first year Nissan made this newest model/look..it looks great on the outside, but nothing but PROBLEMS from the beginning! BRAKES had to be REPLACED 5 TIMES in the first 2 years and 2 out of those 5 times, the whole braking system was replaced...CD player broke by the 3rd year, battery had to be replaced in year 2 and brakes STILL SQUEAL LOUDLY (mostly in reverse) at year 3 of ownership ( I only have 39,000 miles on it now)

Least Reliable Car I've Owned

My 2005 Pathfinder had two factory recalls and 12 -- yes, a dozen -- in less than two years of ownership. All were fixed under warranty, but who wants to make trip after trip after trip to the dealer? One specific problem to watch for is a fuel system vent inside the frame rail. If you live on a gravel road, it will clog up with mud in less than two years, and the dealer will charge you $600+ to replace -- even if you're still under warranty -- unless you make a big stink about it.
