5 Years in
I've had my car for almost 6 years now. At the beginning the car was great. But not at about 75K miles its starting to show some wear (no duh). I still enjoy driving my car it just has some... I'll call them personality issues. I've had to replace to clips holding the windows on both sides because they were made of plastic and in the space of 2 weeks they shattered on both sides. The turn signal works sometimes, but there was a recall on that that I've never gotten around to taking it in for. The motor on the driver side window is going out now, and I am worried how much it will cost to fix, maybe a sell the car and buy a new one level. The car itself still runs great, still fun to hit the gas at a stoplight, handling is sure and good. It is even good off road, I work construction and there have been days where large trucks/SUVs have gotten stuck in the mud and I laugh as I pass them. So overall, the car is still an excellent vehicle but even the best of us develop problems as we get older.

Most UN-reliable car I've owned!!!!
This car seduces you for the first few months with its smooth handling and sporty engine, but then the honeymoon is over. I have a 2000 SE with the 3.4 V6. It has 70,000 miles on it now. I have had to replace every window motor, the driver side motor twice. The window switches have had to be replaced. I have had two major power outages due to circuit board shorts. None of the gauges worked, the a/c would not work and none of the windows would roll down. I have had to replace the signal cancel switch twice because the directional signals would not work. I have had to replace the whole instrument cluster on the steering column because the car was constantly clicking double-time like I was signalling. I have had to replace the engine gasket (which is plastic?? I mean come on people...plastic....in the engine??) it was replaced with a metal gasket. We have had to put new rotors on two times because of warping. Now the blower does not work on 1 and 2. I would love to push this car off a cliff. Stay away from Pontiac Grand AMs please.

Awesome Car!!
I bought my 2000 Grand Am GT1 in May 2006 with 65,000 on it; and it has not givin me one problem! I love the engine and features. The sunroof is nice on sunny days and the steering wheel audio controls are nice in bad weather. This car is sweet looking and fun to drive.

Excellent value, reliable vehicle
Great mileage, excellent handling, low maintenance. I've owned the vehicle since it was new and done nothing more than change oil and replace brakes and tires. Just turned 100K and waiting for it's first tune-up.

Pontiac Grand AM GT1
It's a shame to call the GT1 a Grand AM. This model offers superior comfort, awesome exterior styling, and is loaded with high end features that it makes the vehicle distinctively better. Too bad it keeps the over designed spaseship like dashboard of the base model, otherwise it would be like driving a completely different car.

Great Car for New Drivers
I bought this car used when I was 16 with approximately 32,000 miles on it. It is a great car for new drivers and I love nearly everything about it. I have the V6 and it has quick acceleration and responsive handling. The front seats are very comfortable but the back seats are pretty difficult to get in and out of. I love the folding rear-fold seats and can fit a ton of stuff in the car to make multiple trips to college. I never had any problems until this year, when I was told that I have a leak in my coolant system (about $1,000 to fix) and the air conditioning fan stopped working. Also, the side view mirrors are very cheap and I have had to replace them twice because they pop off easily if someone walks into it or opens a car door on it. Despite the recent problems, I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable used car for a teenager!

Great Car
I have a 2000 Grand Am SE 2DR. at 6'3" i can fit in the car with room to spare. it has a little over 73,000 miles on it and in the last 3 years i have not had to replace a single thing. i have a 800 watt amp hooked up to the stock altenator and have no problems with the headlights dimming or anything. Transmission still shifts great. I have driven the car from Washington State to Michigan, and back, pulling a 31 hour marathon drive were we only stopped for gas and food, and never had one problem with the car, even after driving it 2,000 miles in 31 hours. I would take this car cross country and back in a moments notice without a single worry. The car did excellent in the Michigan winter as well. Started up every morning even when the wind chill was in the negatives. I won't get rid of this car!

GREAT!!!!
I've had my Grand Am SE now for about 6 years. It was a program car when I got it, so it only had 6000 miles on it. This car has been the best vehicle I've ever driven. As I speak to you now, (May 21,2006) I have over 215,000 miles on it, with NO major mechanical problems. The only thing that I've paid to have done on it is routine maintenence. NOTHING has been replaced. And, after 215,000 miles, I figured something would have went bad...but no, nothing! I'm simply amazed.
