Own 2 of these. Surprisingly reliable.
Owned one of these for 6 years, and bought another for my wife about a year ago. One is at 75,000 miles, the other is at 105,000 miles. Some paint issues on the higher mileage one, but other than that, only standard regular maintenance. Just made a 3,000 mile journey pulling a heavy trailer - no problem, and regularly drive in ice & snow with ease. Great car, and at current prices, it is hard to imagine a better buy. Having looked in to these in some detail, it seems that the 2005 & 2006 models had a few problems that were fixed in the 2007 redesign. The 2 I have are the 2008 & 2009 models. Would recommend them to anyone. They are basically the same as the Equinoxes of the same years, but with a nicer grille & better dark interior. Very reliable cars.

Unexpected reliability throughout
I was looking for a used SUV without the hassle of financing. After two weeks, I found this model. When I viewed it online, it was too good to be true. I was still skeptical after viewing the positive online reviews...then I viewed in person. It was white with no rust in sight on the body. It was clean under the hood for an 06' and it had 83,000 miles. It was a smooth ride. I was pleasantly surprised. I was looking at a 2010-2011 SUV but this 06' has a better value than the Ford, Kia and Toyota SUV models that dealers were presenting me with. All of these vehicles had a unreasonable price ranges with a myriad of mechanical issues (which were exposed by simple checks with my mechanic). The Pontiac Torrent surpassed my expectations. The only small downside was the fact there was no auxiliary connection to plug my phone or MP3 player into but this was a small sacrifice compared to the value of a reliable SUV.

Most reliable car I ever owned.
This car had plenty of room for Driver, Passengers and cargo. (Soccer Mom). Great Gas Mileage. Cool looking SUV. Just Inspected and again needs nothing. Regular maintenance always on time since I bought it New. Garaged and no rust. Could easily last someone 10 + years if you take care of it like I did..

Great first car
I've owned this car now for 5 years. If I could, I would drive it for the rest of time! The gas mileage isn't great, but it's super comfortable, with a massive amount of space!

Nice Dependable Ride
This Front Wheel Drive SUV took me through a snow storm when other cars were getting stuck in the snow. It had no issues except for your normal maintenance. It was fun to drive for years. It was very dependable. I thoroughly enjoyed driving this SUV. The white color with the dark tinted windows made it a very nice looking vehicle. My only complaint would be that when you scrape the ice and snow off of your windshield in the winter, it made it a little more difficult then normal windshields because of how they had made it. This is a minor detail.

I have a 2007 Pontiac torrent. Worst vehicle ever.
I bought my 2007 Torrent almost new. (100 miles on it). In the last 4 months I have had my drivers side leather seat crack, peel and come apart at the seams. I have had to replace my heater core, my radiator, have new keys and ignition replaced. Then my head gaskets had to be replaced. I put new winter tires on it. Thought after spending $4800 it would be good to go for years. But nope. One month after above work was done my transmission blew. Looking at $2600 for part and another $2000 for labour install. Almost $10,000 dollars spent on a 9 year old vehicle. Total lemon.

Good Functional Car
I have owned this car since 2012 when I bought it with 74K on it. Now has 141K. We have changed out tires, replaced bad sensors, gas cap, etc. Never had a problem starting, hitting highway speed. Noisy on highway, and developed some wind whistles. With regular maintenance, we have had a good reliable car. I was told this frame was the same as the Enclave. Not verified though. This one has AWD and it has come in handy for some offroad parking and muddy spots! Downside, transmission needs to be disassembled to get at filter. Overall, pretty darn good car!

I love my torrent
It was a gift from my mom and heard some really bad reviews about it. After this winter I trust this car with my life. The roads I drive on are so bad and it handled very well. I felt safe. I also live on a steep incline so with the ice I wasn't sure how the AWD would work but it was wonderful. I agree with people about the turning radius and the cup holder issue but over all I love it
