Nice car

I've been very happy with my 2006 Torrent, much to my surprise. Being a Honda fan I was skeptical about buying a Pontiac. The 72 month 0% financing was the clincher. Honda never officers that. As happy as I've been with the car I probably would never buy another one. I paid nearly 30 grand in June 2006 and just today found the trade in value to be around $13,500. I still owe $20,000!! The worst depreciation I've ever seen. I like to trade every 2 - 3 years, but will have to keep this one until it's paid off to get any value out of it. Live and learn! It'll be back to the Honda dealer for me. Still, if you're the type of person who keeps a car for many years, this one is worth a look. Lots of room to haul stuff and the very adjustable back seat is great. Car rides nicely on the highway and has surprising power for only 185 horsepower.

Torrent AWD

We have found the torrent to be a very reliable, comfortable, and enjoyable vehicle. We purched it new in 2006 and in 2 years rolled on 60,000 mile driving everything from highways to snow/ice covered winter roads and found the handling and preformance above expectation. In fact we loved it so much we just purchased a new 2008 in order to add leather, sunroof, XM, and 100,000 mile warrenty. Not that we would have need the warenty the 2006 was never back to the dealer and the only expense we had for it were oil changes and a set of tires.

Not the Most Reliable Car,Rather have Honda CRV

I bought this car new and I loved it until after 6 months I had to get all four tire rods replaced, when I start the car sometimes it has a hard time starting and the dealership says there is nothing wrong. At times when I apply the brake it jerks. The nuance leather gets dirty very fast unlike the leather in a tahoe that holds up better. Lots of blind spots. I wish I would have got a Honda CRV I bought a 2006 maybe the 2007's are better just make sure its the one you want before purchasing I may sell mine come winter.....

Great Vehicle

We purchased the Torrent after having many problems with our Rendezvous. We like the looks of the Torrent as soon as we saw it. Ours is the sport model with AWD and the sun roof is great. We have driven this vehicle now for approxiametly 2 months and no problems. We do not like that the rear door because it hasn't the means of opening just the glass but instead you must opening the whole door which at times things fall out. I would prefer that the emergency brake be a foot brake near the brake. Also it took sometime to deal with the Tacometer being on the right side instead of the left side. I would prefer that the interior lights on the console be a different color than red. The ride of this vehicle and room space is just great, we usually travel with another couple and we are not small people but there is plenty of room.

Great Car at a Great Price

This is the second Pontiac I have purchased in 6 months, the other being a Solstice. I am surprised but extremely pleased with the quality, styling, and value of both the vehicles. The Torrent has great interior room and the sliding BACK seat, coupled with the no-hump floor, provides true comfort to back seat riders. I also appreciate, but hope never to have to utilize, the 5 star crash rating of the Torrent. Thus far, GM has made a satisfied customer out of what had been a Eurpoean and Japanese consumer. Keep up the good work GM!

High marks

A very good, flexible vehicle with decent gas mileage, plenty of pep, and a quiet cabin. Upgraded versions are pretty comfortable and have extra safety features. The exterior styling is as good as anything in its class.

Even the name is great!

The Pontiac Torrent is an excellent cross-over based on what the competitors offer in comparable vehicles. The trendy body style, especially the grille and headlights seem "angry" and give the Torrent more personality than the Chevy Equinox or Saturn Vue. Driving can be compared to a car more than an SUV but with a higher vantage point and more road presence. The controls inside are simple and straightforward. The new electronic steering is effortless. Both the front and rear passenger seats fold down to accommodate bulky or extra long items. The rear bench seat is adjustable for more leg or storage room depending and reclines to give the passengers a more relaxing ride. Towing capacity is surprising compared to similar vehicles with Torrent's 185-hp, 3.4-liter V-6 engine. Gas mileage for an SUV is also good with 18 to 19 mpg city and 23 to 24 mpg highway based on Front Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive models. Torrent's five star safety rating gives it yet another advantage over the competition. The Pontiac Torrent gives new meaning to the term sport-utility vehicle without breaking the bank or the gasoline budget.

2006 Torrent

I purchased the 2006 Torrent about 4 months ago. It hase been a wonderful car. It drives very nice, has a sedan feel in ride and handling. With AWD it preformed marvioulsly in the early spring snows. The interior flexablity make a perfect fit for long trips with the family to sort runs to lumbar yard. With the sliding back seat adults over 6ft are comfortable in the back seat even on longer drives and a car seat can slide in very easily with out having to adjust the front seats. The V6 feels very peppy and has returned for me better than sticker fuel mileage.
