No Competition

I did my homework before buying my 2013 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab and then test drove every other full size truck I could. Power - The only thing close was the Titan, The 5.7 HEMI is, by far, the most potent and responsive option available in any full size truck I tested. By comparison the Chevy seems anemic and unresponsive. The others are responsive ... they are just not in the same league power wise. RAM seems to be the only truck that is publishing reasonable towing capacities too. Go ahead and tow 11,500lbs with that Silverado ... just bring a couple spare trannys with you. Currently I'm getting 17MPG commuting to work. Ride - I will admit that the Chevy/GMC rides just a tad better in the city, but the turning radius on the RAM is tighter making it easier to compete on congested city streets, and off of the asphalt the RAM feels more stable and precise. The Ford was close second all around, and the Titan and Tundra were just horrible with massive body roll that was not well compensated. Interior - RAM all the way, lots of tech for the tech savy ( I opted for the UCONNECT 84 AN, which has Bluetooth, NAV, SXM and HD radio, as well as the option to turn the thing into a 3G access point). The Uconnect website shows that there are media apps "comming soon" which can be downloaded to control things like Pandora, but its easy to just use the bluetooth to stream your cellphone audio. I like that I can basically turn it on when I need it rather than having to have a contract. I have used the access point feature on long trips to keep the kids in the back seat occupied, and once when there was a power failure we camped out in the truck for a few hours and watched netflix ... the 115AC outlet is also a boon. The fords interior was second place while Nissan, Toyota and Chevy interiors seemed like an afterthought. The storage options are very well thought out, I specifically liked that the rear seat folds up and there is a false floor that folds out making the entire back seat area flat. I was able to put 2 large LCD TVs in their boxes back there and not have to worry about them sliding or bouncing around on the seats, all while keeping them out of the weather. The heated seats and steering wheel are options I didn't think I needed until I got used to them. The gauge cluster is very nice, all the traditional gauges are there in analog format and there is a 7inch LCD panel which can display an large amount of vehicle data, if you are familiar with OBDII apps then you'll have an idea of what can be displayed, it will also display turns from the NAV when configured to, but it is very generic (not the actual NAV display). UCONNECT will also let you lock/unlock or remote start the truck from a cellphone or PC, I have found this feature to be somewhat lacking, there is a significant time lag between issuing a command from my cell to the time the truck actually unlocks, so much so that I stopped using it about a week after I bought it. To top it all off I paid almost 6k under invoice (the salesman screwed up and left the book open when he thought i wasn't looking (sticker was about 5.5k over invoice)) ... and I'm still not sure how they were able to sell it to me at the price I paid, but I aint gonna argue.

nice

2013 Ram 1500 standard cab with 6'4" bed. All the power as needed. Took 2 trips from Chicago to North Dakota and I was pleasantly surprised. The comfort of the ride was a 10. Gas mileage while pulling a 6 x 10 box trailer with 3 motorcycles was 15.8. Not bad but not great. Second trip with out trailer was 23.6 : ) Much better. Speed limit in ND is 75 and this truck pulled the trailer smoothly as well as had plenty of power to pass as needed. The USB connection is a plus to play an Ipod on the radio. Electronic features took a bit to figure out but when deciphered offers a lot of information .I received some flack from my friends that are Ford lovers but after having drove it now for 6 months in Cadillac comfort I really don't care what the haters say.

Great truck

I've only had the truck for 2 weeks, and so far it has met my expectations. The Garmin GPS Map is awesome. Full of information. Great ride and handling. We just bought a travel trailer and will pick it up in 2 weeks. We'll see how it handles towing a 28', 8400 lb. trailer.

RED BOMBER

My Ram drives like a car it has coil springs in the rear not leaf springs. I like the power, comfort and the quiet ride in the avbin. My truck is the 4x4 Laramie crew cab. I have had Ford, GM Toyota and even a Lincoln and this truck is way ahead of all of them.

Solid, no nonsense truck

I recently bought a 2013 Ram 1500 Express trim with the Hemi engine. My previous Ram was a 1997 which I've owned for 16 years. I wanted a simple workhorse of a truck that didn't have a lot of options I didn't want and probably wouldn't use. The Express trim fit the bill perfectly. It is utilitarian but the computer has features (like tire psi) that I think are valuable and the simpler uConnect system has an iPod jack and is very easy to use. The only thing it doesn't have that I wanted was a center console but there's still good storage in a tray under the dash as well as in the center seat back which folds down. As far as gas mileage I've been getting about 14.5 but I've not done any highway driving yet. The only problem I've had is a cord that was run around the parking brake release which yanked a wiring harness down when I released it. I think it was a manufacturing error and was easily fixed. Simply put, if you want a lot of bells and whistles then you'll need to go up a trim level but, if you want a solid truck at a fair price, I'd recommend looking at the Express.

Awesome truck

Still needs a CD player. Option package deletes bed liner and tow package, not good. Otherwise a super truck, Got a sweet deal on a $38,000. Hemi 4x4 Quad cab!

Maybe later

I think this is a fantastic truck right now, otherwise I would not have purchased it. I think a much more accurate review would be to ask 12 month from now when I have experienced the vehicle's good points and possible faults. I did give it a 3 in comfort because at 5'-10" I have a problem using either armrest while driving. Even with seat all the way down, I am not able to rest arms comfortably on center console or door armrest. With the seat positioned comfortably I also find it a long reach from accelerator pedal to brake pedal. I would definitely recommend the "adjustable brake pedal" option offered to remedy this issue. This truck has more high tech stuff than a little. I do really enjoy using all of it, it is really amazing what they can do with electronics in autos today. I do presently drive a "02 Durango that has been a great vehicle for 110k miles, and the motivation to return to Dodge products. What can I say, I love my truck (for now). Be fair, ask again in 12 months!

Best pickup I've owned

I purchased a 2013 1500 Laramie after owning Chevy's all my life. I have almost 10K on the truck and it has been flawless. Air ride suspension has been fantastic for towing. I was able to tow a 32 foot travel trailer with no load leveling bars, something my 3/4 ton Suburban could not do. This truck is very comfortable to drive, nav works great and easy to use, Ram boxes are so convenient for stuff and fuel mileage with the 5.7 / 6 speed trans has been good. I'm averaging 14.5 mpg in town and I can get as high as 20 on the highway. The Laramie interior has so many little touches and features , there is just not enough space to comment here. I did add MIcheliin tires, Backflip cover and Magnaflow exhaust. I could go on but the fact that Ram decide to pay attention to detail, quality, style and stay competitive on price is a winning combination. Also, I have recieved multiple surveys from Ram asking for my rating of the truck. I can't get over how nice this truck is. It seems that they care!!! Wow!!
