Life Saver

I had owned this my Xa for about 18 months and didn't have any issues with it (bought used). It was great on gas, spacious despite the deceiving overall size of vehicle, and visibility inside was amazing. I used it mostly for commuting to and from home and school, equaling about a 2 hour drive one way. Recently on my way back to school, I was in a nasty accident on a highway. I hit some ice on the road which caused the car to rolled twice and landed on the roof. I walked away with a scratch on my lip and a headache. The car maintained the shape well and maintained shape without a possible threat of crushing me inside. This is an extremely safe vehicle and well worth every dollar I spent on it.

2006 Scion xA

Totally awesome around town kind of car (200 mile + radius)! Serves the purpose 100%. If you are thinking taking it to the mountains with 4x200 + lb passengers inside, I would think twice. Hello, it's 1.5 L car let's be reasonable. We also own 2004 xA. Same thing, totally awesome care! 2006 though got tons of extras, side air bags, side curtains, both front and rear, sound insulation was improved, iPod hook up and more. Before purchasing 2006 we've looked at a newer body of xA. Absolute lack of room inside!!! Toyota narrowed top portion of a care a bit, but that little translates in huge discomfort / turn off! Also, they stop putting 1.5L engines in it. It's 2.4L now. Not sure about Japan or Europe, but no 1.5L for US that's for sure. Why? Dumb move if you ask me. On top of all that 2.4 I test drove is way noisier that 1.5L I have in my both 2004 and 2006. With that in mind, we decided to go for another xA, same body style but newer year model.

Very Reliable Car

Since i owned my car from the day i bought it and currently still own it havent had any problems on it. Only thing messed up on me is my alternator but that is my fault for jumping a tractor. Car is very safe I had an old pick up hit me from behind my car i wasnt injured at all just my car. I'm very satisfied with this car. i currently have two of them right now.

A great car!

If you are looking for a car that will always get you there, this is it. I've had my '06 for almost three years and have not had a single problem. It is a fun little car to drive and great on gas. 28-29 city and high 30's highway. Off the line it is pretty quick but by no means a sports car. The only drawback is it could a little more power. I also find it remarkably stable on the highway.

Average

This is the least reliable car I ever owned, having broken down twice in the two years that I own it. I hope to replace it ASAP as I feel I can't trust driving it.

Cutiepie

I love my scion. Bought in 2006. No troubles. Compact but not tight. I love the hatchback, since I can fit a ton of stuff in the back of the car with the seats down. Very convenient. Pretty good mileage.

Not Worth It

Bought this car new in 2006. One year later, the transmission started grinding going into third gear (it's a manual transmission), and then basically stopped working all together. This was during a 6,000 mile road trip, not the best time for a transmission with 32,000 miles to break down. Dealer replaced the transmission for free (warranty), but still a $2,000 repair had it not been covered by the warranty. This alone has really turned me off to this make and model. I would never expect a car this new with 32,000 miles to go through a transmission that quickly. And now, three years later, the transmission is showing signs of falling apart again. I wouldn't suggest anyone purchase this car.

Good for the money

I purchased this car used to replace my 16-year-old car. It drives like a dream compared to my previous car, which was manual shift and did not have power steering. I have it for a year now and still haven?t been able to figure out how to judge when parking it. The most gas mileage I have ever gotten was 26 miles in city driving, which I was disappointed in since this is such a small car. I like the hatch back for loading cargo, but the back seat doesn?t leave much room for getting small children in and out easily. The front seat doesn?t provide any room for ladies? purses, etc., if there is someone sitting in the passenger seat. I have had a problem with the radio station changing by itself while I'm driving and since it only happens occasionally, the dealership has not been able to find and fix the problem.

Best Value

Very practical car. I have been able to fit an incredible amount of stuff in the back due to the efficeint fold down seats/hatch back design. Handles respectibly, which allows you to zip around in traffic effortlessly. The seats are comfortable, and has been very reliable after 69k miles, and still runs like new for the most part. My only beefs are the the highway ride; sharp edge bumps can be quite jarring at highway speed. Also no front seat arm rest, but I bough a very comfy one on-line for a little over $100 and installed it in ~30 minutes. Tall people beware, I am 5'10" and I slide the seats all the way back; anyone 5,11"+ may get a little cramped. Not a race car, but power is good enough if you don't mind reving it up.
