Awesome Car!!

I've owned two cars before this that were also good cars but this car is by far the best I've owned. The only problem with the car is that it's not roomy in the back. But the outstanding performance and handling kind of cancel that out. It's all wheel drive all the time and it awesome. I just laugh when I see people having car trouble in the winter while my car can easily plow through a mound of snow like it were a speed bump. Overall, this car is well worth the money, reliable, and just a blast to drive.

Pros and cons

2006 subaru impreza 2.5I Pros: The pros on this car are numerous the smooth driving symmetrical AWD system produces absolutely no torque steer when "hammering on the throttle, and also great road feel when the vehicle is turning on those tight city roads. The AWD system is also great in the snow, ice, and rain. The fuel economy on this car is fair, and lower than the others in its class but this is because it is all wheel drive, but still not that bad in the mid 20's. Cons: The main con is the throttle by wire system. It is overall functional, but takes a while to learn the driver, and a little too much delay if you have to assert yourself traffic. Overall: This is a great AWD drive car for under 20K I would recommend this car to anyone i know

The Worst company to buy a car from

I have the 06 WRX Lmt. Wagon. I thought that I had bought the best car ever, until the motor blew up. Less than 6000 miles and Subaru would not warrantee it. $3000 more came out of my pocket to pay for the damage. Car was in the shop for three months before I finally gave up on SOA (Subaru of America) and paid for it. Everyone that I talked to about the car was less than helpful and extremely rude to boot. Do not get it twisted when you are look at this car, it LOOKS nice but is mechanically flawed in more ways than one. Subarus are notorious for extremely bad timing belts and heads. My heads were messed up and they wouldn?t warrantee them, that is what makes a Subaru a Subaru!

Cost of ownership

Cars.com cost of ownership tab should add another catagory for the speeding tickets and how much more your going to pay in insurance and how priceless the rush of driveing this car is.

Impreza 2.5i 5sp

This vehicle is excellent in the Minnesota Climate. The standard options are more than sufficient, but the stock radio is about as good as a nice Sony Clock Radio. The factory upgrade is over priced and does not offer good sound quality. The brakes are a bit spongy, which I corrected with a Perrin Master Cylinder brace and Hawk Pads. The center of gravity, handling, and steering are spot-on. I did add front and rear strut bars which helped turn-in. The shifter is ropey, and the tramission mounts are soft so alot of movement is detected in the shifter. I corrected this with the SPT Shifter and is now very nice and tight. The car gets about 30mpg when driven kindly. This is a solid car, very well conceived, and a far better value than any other car in its class if you live a in a climate that gets snow. If you live in a warm climate, I would spring the extra 5,000 and get the 2007 Honda Civic Si 4-door. You can't go wrong with this car, the last one I had lived until 215,000 miles gracefully.

Performance extraordinaire!

Surprisingly for a 'compact' car, I was able to fit a larger-sized baby stroller into the trunk (beneath the mammoth wing) and still have room in front and the sides. The dimensions of the interior otherwise do fit the image of an economy car, but no one buys an STI strictly for travel trips and carpools. Performance is quite exciting. The engine felt very responsive, with just a whiff of turbo lag. This is a great improvement over the older 2.0L WRX Turbos, where the lag is quite pronounced. Power is just a stab of the gas pedal away. Handling is also top notch, without being too bouncy. Having just owned a 2004 Civic Si (stock suspension), I can say that the STI suspension is actually more compliant and less jarring--which was contrary to many reviews I've seen. So far, I think the only downside to owning this car is the gas mileage. Driving it relatively conservatively, I have seen the needle go from Full to 3/4 tank with just 55 miles on it. I hope that it's just a miscalculation on my part or just part of the break-in process, because that gas mileage works out to be pretty poor! But with 300 HP and lb-ft of torque, that complaint is pretty low on my list.

The best (and first!) new car I've owned!

I went to a Subaru dealer planning to look at cars. I walked away with an 06 Impreza. I took it for a test drive and fell in love with it. It has been absolutely reliable, especially seeing as I put about 2000-2500 miles a month on a car because of my job (the commute is 35-50 miles each way depending on where I work that day). I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for something reliable, good in the winter, and overall great car. I love this and am hooked on Subarus. I'm already scouting because I want a WRX STi in the future!

Absolute best AWD vehicle for the money

There's a good reason that a significant majority of the locals here drive Subarus. I get 26-28 MPG driving in the mountains and 30+ on the highway. Super-reliable, fun-to-drive. It's the most basic car Subaru makes and it is anything but "beancan".

wrx/sti review

As a former owner of the wrx/sti,my experience with the vehicle was great.Handling was fantastic, ride quality was compliant.Due to the fact that its a rally/sports sedan. This car is strictly performance. Its not a luxury car.Gas mileage was good campared with other sports cars.Maintenance is minimal, just change the oil every 3000 miles and your good. The sti is well mannered in bad weather. But you need winter tires. Its comes w/ summer tires.
