Love This Car

After driving a car that wasn't so good in inclement weather, I decided to get a Subaru. I had to wait for these new Imprezas to come out, and it was well worth it. I love how the car handles. It's immediately comfortable with great visibility. Controls are within easy reach. I'm also really pleased with the features I was able to get for the money. I got the 5-door hatchback and love the cargo space. Great gas mileage.

Exactly what I wanted

After 19 years of owning 2 Saturns, I was looking for AWD with good mileage, and I found it in the 2012 Impreza. It is averaging 33 mpg so far (combination city and highway.) Love the quiet ride and smooth, solid feel. I have owned it for 2 weeks (550 miles) so it is early but so far I am not at all sorry. This is my first Subaru.

best allround compact car

the new Impeza is an absolute ball to drive. I love the cvt trans especially using the paddle shifters without needing to pull the selector in the manual mode. when pulling away from a stop, if you don't want the engine to stay in the high rev mode simply click on the right paddle and it snaps a shift to the next ratio. samegoes with a quick downshift to slow yourself down or in anticapated an upcomming low speed turn or hill a quick click on the left paddle and you have the right ratio for a quick manuver. It really likes highway cruising.visability all around is the best in class Its like driving a Miata with 5 doors

Disappointed

Three months ago I purchased a 2012 Impreza Sport, manual transmission. My previous car was a 2003 Subaru Forester XS (my daughter's car at the moment) with manual transmission. My husband also had a Subaru, a 2004 Outback, manual transmission, for a few years The Impreza is absolutely the worse one, and I am terribly disappointed. I am sorry I purchased it. Tha good points: it is comfortable and spacious inside, and it handles the road quite well (even if I cannot say anything about driving it in the bad season). Now the bad points: the materials they used are way cheaper than in my old Forester. Lots of plastic and a cheap one all over. I seriously doubt this car will have the same longevity. The mpg I am getting are atrocious. I was getting (the same suburban route every day, same driving) 23mpg with the Forester. I am getting 22-23mpg with the Impreza. I did not travel much on the Expressway, but the mpg were better, over 30mpg. The car is not peppy at all, at moments almost unresponsive, so much that I took it to the local dealer for a check up. I was told that the car is perfect, and that probably i have to get used to the manual transmission: I found this remark hilarious. I am driving for over 40 years and I NEVER had a car with an AT!!!!! I gave three stars for the reliability ... time wil tell. I was ready to settle for less power to get a better consumption .... where are the 25-33mpg trumpeted by Subaru? I sincerely hope that the mpg will improve with the so called break in period, but so far ..... just disappointed. ready to resell it at the first good chance.

Excellent Car

I just bought a Subaru Impreza Limited and I am very happy about this car. I have owned many cars in US and Europe; Subaru Impreza is one of the best I've seen. These are some of the best qualities: it handles very well, nice interior, elegant exterior, quiet, and quite powerful for a compact car. In addition, the fuel economy is great, especially for a AWD car. Great job Subaru!

paint problems

Love the car; a very fun ride. Sadly, I am also having paint problems. At 5K miles, the first few paint chips. Looked like I took a bunch of rocks to the hood, which was odd as no one drives it but me and I don't recall EVER hearing anything hit the car. I don't tailgate, don't drive on gravel roads, don't live in an area with freezing temps.... Now at 9K miles, there are more than 25 places with paint chipping off. Dealer says paint chips are not covered. My previous 2 subarus didn't have more than 1 or 2 paint chips in >200K miles. We have 3 other cars, no paint chips on any of them. Very disappointing.

I thought I was buying my dream car...

Previously I drove a 2003 Olds Alero with 200K miles. Naturally, the car kicked the bucket. I decided that I was going to buy my first 'big girl' car, and easily settled on the hot Subaru Impreza, Hatchback. I waited almost 4 months on the car, so I was very excited when it arrived. Almost immediately I experienced issues with the paint. I had a 4 inch scratch on the front hood that I noticed after the first few days. I park in a garage and never next to shrubbery, etc. I took it to the dealer, and they told me it was a manufacturers defect under the clear coat. They fixed it the best they could at that time. Since then, I have had NUMEROUS issues with the car: my seat pilled up badly after vacuming it and had to be replaced (simple shop vac), my radio freezes and wont turn off, blue tooth randomly drops, my passenger airbag randomly turns off when there is a passenger in the seat, and above all- there are scratches all over it... its even rusting. I received my car in Fed, 2012 and it has less than 10K miles. I have no kids, and I do not beat up on it--- afterall, its my first 'big girl' car, so I am taking super good care of it! While I want to fall in love with this car, I simply can not. I am having more issues with my 2012 Impreza than with my 2003 Olds Alero. I have a call into Subaru North America where hopefully they will address these issues. I purchased this car because the Subaru brand stands for durability, reliability, and quality--- I would say that my car has fallen short.

Fun to Drive

I've had my 2012 Impreza for over a month. So far, it's everything I hoped for. I opted for the manual transmission even though the CVT supposedly gets better mileage. I do a mix of highway and city driving, and I've averaged over 35 mpg (my actual measurements) on my last two tanks of gas. I got the Premium because I wanted seat warmers and a better sound system. The car is iPhone-ready and my iTunes sound great through the stereo system. This is my second Subaru - I just gave my first one to my daughter since it has only 143,000 miles on it. With the new Impreza, Subaru produced an AWD car with excellent fuel economy that's fun to drive.

2012 Impreza Ice Silver Limited Sedan

This is my first new car in quite a while so I did a lot of research before opting for the Impreza. I really wanted to try to buy American but no American Car Maker offers anything like the Impreza. Good looks, comfortable, great gas mileage, and of course, AWD. I ended up ordering a car the end of March because I could not find one equipped the way I wanted at any of my local dealers. I picked the car up a few days ago and I couldn't be happier. I was a little concerned about real world gas mileage based on things I've read on the web, but that concern was unfounded. I've got a few hundred miles on the car and am averaging 35 MPG with mostly back road driving. I know a lot of people are critical of the CVT but I think it's great. It seems to wring the most out of the smallish motor and makes it feel very peppy. The interior of the car is very nice and I especially love the leather seating... well done Subaru. I owned an Outback and a Legacy GT previously, and this is without a doubt a huge step forward for Subaru. I am still trying to figure out how to pair my phone with the Bluetooth and also how to set the Homelink to open my garage door, but I am sure those two problems are more user error than anything to do with Subaru. I am very, very happy with this car and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a small practical sedan or wagon.
