A little pricey but a great car!

This car has plenty of room for my 6'7" friend, great gas mileage and had a ton of great features. I had the Premium 5 door package. The car's bluetooth sync system had more options than I was ever able to use. The rear view camera system made parallel parking a snap with its markers for 4,3,2,1 feet warning lines. The engine was not the most powerful I have ever had however it was never an issue. The fuel efficiency was remarkable, I averaged rough 30 MPG with mostly city driving. The paddle shifters were an interesting feature and I probably played with them more than was needed. With the 5 door model I had more than enough room for bicycles, kayaks and every other stupid thing I could throw in there. At 6'1" and 250# I still fit comfortably in the back seat. The car handled really well in poor whether conditions. Unfortunately one time in some of the worst road conditions I have ever seen the car slid off the roadway. :( Do not let this deter you, with all of the safety features on board I walked away without a scratch. These cars retain their value so well even with my mileage through the roof for a car of just under two years (49,000), my insurance even with a $500 deductable, paid the balance of my loan less $89.00. The only draw back was the price point. I would have been much happier if I could have gotten out of the dealership for 2-3k less.

Excellent value

Much quieter and smoother riding than the '13 I owned, and the noise reduction project in the trunk makes it even more so; the reason for the project was because the road noise the car transmits made talking on Bluetooth difficult. The 5 MT delivers 31 mpg in mixed driving, and up to 42 mpg on the turnpike. Back up camera is invaluable, and the car's equalizer is capable of creating decent sound for classical music as well as rave and rock 'n roll tunes. Aside from minor rattles, the car has had no reliability issues. I've driven other compact cars as rentals; I must say that dollar for dollar, the Impreza is the best value.

Good car with a couple of minor concerns

First: I love my car. I would not trade it for something else. It gets great mileage, has a lot of pep, and runs smoothly. The safety rating and the fact that it's AWD sold me on the car since I take it skiing a lot and I need a car that can handle snow and ice. That said, I have three minor complaints: First, the speedometer does not have any indication of where the 5's are, like 25, 35, 45mph, etc. There isn't even a line there, so if you want to know your speed it's very hard to determine it with a quick glance. I get the feeling it was designed in Japan by someone who has only driven in places that use kilometers, which never use the 5's. Second, the sound system does not interface well with a normal iPod. Being a jazz fan, I don't find much on the radio so I load up an iPod with tunes and like to listen to them at random, which the sound system will do. The problem is that on the brand new iPod Nano that I bought for the car the system will not automatically go to random play. First, it takes a couple of minutes for the car to even recognize the iPod and then it starts playing from the beginning of the alphabetical songs list. In order to get what I want I have to punch four different buttons (three touch screen ones and one on the stereo) after it finally begins playing. I'm almost always on the road, three blocks or more from home, when the thing begins to play. It's dangerous for me to mess with it then. Also, the system will not turn off or respond to any input until it is fully booted so I can't decide to listen to the radio until I'm three blocks down the road. Very frustrating. It works just fine with an iPod Touch that I tried in it, but I don't want to use it in the car. Older iPods don't work at all. Third, I was a bit disappointed in the steering since I formerly owned an '04 Ford Focus with the tightest, most responsive steering I've ever experienced. The Impreza feels sloppy in comparison though it's adequate.

Hard to beat!

This is my first Subaru, and I never really considered one before, but I am so glad I gave them a chance! My wife had an aging Hyundai Elantra and it treated us well. It was time to find it's replacement. I was convinced she would be picking out another Elantra, which was fine by me until I started doing some research. Side by side, the Impreza's features and safety record started to jump out at me more and I felt that it was worth a look. I'm glad my wife agreed to give it honest consideration. The Impreza's 2015 refresh of the exterior styling and the upgraded interior features made it eye catching as well. My wife and I quickly learned that this car flat out delivers in all of the important categories that we were looking for in a small family car. Economy, safety, space, reliability, style, comfort, and technology. Throw all wheel drive on top of this car's impressive resume and our decision became very easy. The Impreza is still the only real option in the small car segment with AWD. This car car handles very well and is just as sure footed as my 4x4 SUV. The 4 cylinder boxer engine is just peppy enough and the ride is very comfortable. I'm 6'2" and was very surprised that I had enough room in both the front and back seats. This car will shine in cold climates! Aside from the AWD, with features like heated front cloth seats, heated wiper blades and mirrors, front and rear defroster, and very responsive cabin heat...so nice to have here in Wisconsin! The interior and exterior styling is conservative but very clean and handsome. There are more flashy and stylish options in this segment but with flash comes the risk of looking out dated quickly. The interior is very functional and well built. There are soft touch materials on the dash and other places where you'd expect them to be in a more expensive vehicle. The cabin is a pleasant place to be even on longer trips. You will instantly notice that there is a lot of glass in this car. There is excellent visibility in this car...and it also comes with a back up camera. The trade off is that at higher speeds, there is a noticeable level of wind noise in the cabin, though not to the point of annoyance. If you value safety, economy, and reliability this car is hard to beat! All in all, it's a good looking package with the impressive heritage of Subaru. So far I'm very pleased with this car and am jealous that my wife and kids will be in it far more than I will. I have absolutely no regrets and I clearly see why the dealership can't order these cars in fast enough. I highly recommend taking a test drive in one...especially right after it snows!

Loaner car

I received this as a loaner car while my Forester was being repaired. This was a fun little car, had good engine pep, felt sporty, and decent visibility. It I was in the market for a new car this Subbie would be a strong contender.

Focus on reliability and safety

Good value for the money; however, the manual could be more user-friendly and include instructions on how to operate radio.

Finally! My Subaru!!

I love my New Subaru! The Handling is tight and responsive, the fuel economy is great, and the AWD gives me confidence when the weather gets nasty. I think the styling is beautiful. The lines are sharp and clean. I did a lot of research before buying a new car, and the safety and reliability of Subaru were the deciding factors in my decision.
