best car so far
we went on a rampage for a month trying to find the right car for a reasonable price. the original idea was to get this car but in the 2008 version which no one likes, and we got this one and everyone loves it. expecially how you can see what song you are listening to and the artist it is just great!

Comfortable, Roomy, Quiet, Love the AWD!
We have only had our loaded up Outback Limited 2.5i for 2 weeks, but so far we are happy with it. Love the comfortable seats; both front and rear have plenty of room for growing teens, and the leather is good quality. The navigation and Harman/Kardon radio system seem to be top notch, though we are still learning how to use everything. We chose the Outback after looking at many other brands because we were intrigued with the Boxer engine, continuously variable transmission and the true, all time all-wheel drive drive train, and of course, the great gas mileage that goes along with it! I have averaged around 22mpg with short trips and I have watched the mpg gauge while on the highway using cruise control hover in the mid thirties! Since we live on a gravel road, the extra clearance on soft, frost boiled spring roads has been wonderful! We were fortunate to have had a little snow since our purchase so I did get to try the Outback in it and it had no problem getting through it. A few minor complaints: It would be nice if it had memory seats, a power cargo door, and heated 2nd row seats.

too computer controlled
"small button" handbrake makes me very nervous...I drive with hand controls & it is very inaccessible and hard to see or find in an emergency.

Only regret is that I didn't by a Subby before.
Purchased the Outback January 22, 2011. About 2 weeks later on Ground Hog day the Chicago land area had the worst blizzard in decades, dumping about 2 and a half feet of snow with drifts upwards of 6 feet! This Subaru made it through some of the deepest snow I have ever seen. The safety features such as stability and traction control took some getting used to, but I am glad I had it. It kept me out of harms way and ditches for sure. My wife is now waiting her turn for a new vehicle which will be a Subby. We have driven it to Colorado Springs for spring break and had an incredible 29 MPG average on the highway. The average to date is an impressive 23 MPG. Lots of room in the interior. Kid and pet friendly interior. Continuous Variable Transmission is awesome! Unless you own a Subby you'll never fully understand when you hear "I love my Subaru"

Best Subaru ever!
I have been more than pleased with my recent purchase of a 2011 Subaru Outback. Our previous 2008 Outback which we loved was totalled when an unalert driver ran a stop sign and T-boned while my wife was driving. She was not injured severely but our beloved Outback was gone in an instant. Our new Outback has much more interior room in both the front and rear seating area. This is important to me as a 6'2" guy. We opted for the Limited model and that has turned out to be a wise decision. We got the Harman-Kardon 8 speaker system and it is awesome. That system coupled with the Sirius XM Radio makes any trip, short or long, very enjoyable. The steering wheel controls for the radio and the Bluetooth hands free phone linkup are both extremely convenient and much safer than controls on the dashboard. The roof rack system has also been changed by some clever engineering. We don't use the rack frequently and I took the side to side bars off when not in use to conserve maybe a little fuel cost. The 2011 now has bars that fold into the front to back rails and easily unlock and unfold when needed. We have been experiencing 21 mpg with city driving and 29 mpg on the highway. The car has less than 3000 miles on the odometer so I expect those numbers to increase over time. To sum up, I can say that we are very happy with our decision and would highly recommend this vehicle.

Nicer than expected
I bought the 3.6 liter Outback with everything except nav- which I wanted but was unavailable-apparently they don't make a whole lot. The car is surprising quite and quick, but the handling and feel is far from sporty which for me at 52 is OK.
