GREAT CAR / SOME PROBLEMS

HAD 75000 WHEN I GOT IT, HAVE 216000 AND STILL RUNNING EVERY DAY. HAD ALL THE GASKETS REPLACED, FRONT DRIVE SHAFTS REPLACED A FEW TIMES, HAD 2 MAJOR TUNE UPS, THE AIR CONDITIONER JUST WENT OUT, AND THE WINDOWS ARE ACTING UP, BUT OVER ALL THE CAR HAS BEEN VERY DEPENDABLE, I MIGHT TRY FOR 300000 ??

1993 Camry XLE V-6, 3.0

This was a hand-me-down car from my brother. It was his second car and he gave it a beating, including minor wrecks and a cracked radiator. I began driving it about two years ago and it's been a great first car. I would prefer this over many newer cars, even with 157,000 miles. They have done a good bit of work on it...injector replacement, main head gasket, entire brake set, and springs among others. The only problem are the headlights, they're pretty weak. If you treat the car well and do regular maintenance, it will run forever.

It had a long life

So the camry xle v6 was a gift from my aunt 5 years ago. the car ran great for 3 of those years but the last 2 years it was in the shop a lot; 1 thing after another until the engine failed a block test then we said okay we're done. it had a good life, very fun to drive, but died with only 155,xxx miles on it.

great car

It lasted for a while. The engine was great and i barely needed repairs. It drove smooth and was good on gas. The interior was ok. It was fabulous but it was fit for what was needed. It drove great for long distances. Made me a big toyota fan

Can't get more reliable.

I have a 93 LE 4cyl with 266k miles on it, original engine and transmission. It shows no signs of giving up anytime soon! I love this car!!

Like 2007 model only with no payments.

This car is like a 2007 model with out payments, if maintained properly, and even then the car requires very very little maintainance. I have owned 2 of these now, 1st one got wrecked and I went ahead and bought the exact same car and year only upgraded to the V6 XLE model. Once you buy them I personally recommend replacing the timing belts and rear main seals. For some reason they all seem to come with leaks in rear main seals. After that I just check every thing else. My last one I bought with 130,000 mile and drove to 260,000 in a four year period driving it nation wide, with never a doubt in my mind I would get there. My family members hated the fact that I would get where ever they went with their 250 - 450 $ payment cars. This one currently has 160,000 mile and still running smooth. Gas actually isn't that bad compared to the 4cyl, but I drive mostly highway. I am not a sales man but have family all over and love to travel so maybe 40% of the miles were high way but rest regular driving. Oh yeah suspension may need over haul eventually but that engine just keeps ticking. So if your looking for a cheap reliable vehicle purchase this car and put about 1500 - 2000 in it and I can almost guarantee you will have a car to die for with out the payments. The exterior styling is pretty good for its year, interior features could be better, but I'm driving a 93 and really don't know what other cars out there had in them. I guess I compared them too much to 2004's and up.

Tried to kill my roomate

It started innocently enough. I bought this 10 year old Toyota from a used car lot. "Toyota's are really reliable my family told me.... they run forever." Or so I thought. Right after I bought the car I had a local mechanic do a tune up on the vehicle, the mechanic said that my timing belt needed replacement and my tensioner was going bad; so I had that replaced. After a few months the car had burned out 3 car batteries before I found out the alternator was going bad and replaced that. Then the power window stopped going up, and a new part from Toyota cost nearly $900 to fix just the window After sensing that this car was a money pit I sold it to my roomate for $1000 less than I bought it for. About six months later back rear tire locked up on the interstate and Jim spun out in traffic. The car spun three times and fell off the side of the road. Fortunately all Jim suffered was a sprained back. Miraculously there wasn't a collision. After having the rear axel and rims replaced the Camry was back on the road. We then discovered that the car would sometimes die unexpectedly at a stop light, and that it was very hard to get it started again. We later learned this was a problem with a selenoid in the fuel system. When this car did work, the ride was very nice, and the seats were very comfy and roomy. But the car handled like a boat and the acceleration was lackluster. Not all Toyota's are reliable, this one cost a fortune to keep running and almost killed my roomate.

Great Car

Car is great in all seasons. It's very reliable even with 100k+ mileage on it. Year after year I think nothing of putting on extra mileage.
