Perfect All Around mid-size SUV

4wd Limited - The vehicle is a perfect blend of car comfort, handling, MPG and value, along with the space and key features of a SUV. The intuitive interior design, the material quality, the powertrain (V6 5spd auto) is perfect in its acceleration, responsiveness, and fuel economy. A/C blows ice cold in triple digit summer days (AZ) - My only 'wish' is for an aux. input for an iPod and a higher quality sounding stereo (I have the JBL upgrade). Those to items are easily remedied.

SUV without the gas guzzling stigma

As a committed Volvo owner (3 over the past 20 years), I decided to break rank and go with Toyota because the new Volvos are becoming too pricey. Knowing how dependable the old Volvo 4 cylinders were, I decided on the AWD 4 cylinder base engine for my Highlander which I've owned for about a month. It has proven itself wonderfully and I know I've made the right decision! My initial impulse was to go for the V6 given the size of this vehicle but was won over after I test drove the 4 cyclinder on two occaisions. I am consistently getting 22-23 city and 27-28 highway. Yes, I am a conservative driver but also a very satisfied customer. We are now a Volvo/Toyota family!

Excellent Value

The only complaint I have was the original OEM tires (which may vary from vehicle to vehicle). After replacing with a set of Michelins it's just about a perfect urban/suburban SUV. It's not for serious off-road use.

Very powerful Hybrid

My wife and I own 2 Highlanders, a 2005 gas version and a 2007 Hybrid. The vehicle's are both very quiet, smooth, reliable and well worth the investment. The hybrid's mileage for similar mixed city and highway driving is 20%+ better than the gas version. The power in the hybrid is noticably stronger. We are very happy with both models. I would definitely recommend the Hybrid to someone wanting to have the room in an SUV, combined with good mileage and a quiet ride.

SUV Hybrid with plenty of power

We've owned 2 Prius's and this Highlander Hybrid Limited has much more going for it. It must be noted, however, that the Highlander Hybrid Limited costs about 5 grand more than the top of the line Prius. Interior noise level is very low. The electric motor alone can power the vehicle up to 35 or 40 mph if on fairly level ground. That is a huge gas-saver. The V-6 engine provides more than enough power, and can out-accelerate a lot of V-8's. When I drive carefully, I average around 30 MPG in the city, if I start hot-dogging it and punch the V-6 to its limit, I get more like low 20's mpg...Still pretty good for 7 passenger SUV!
