Very reliable

Pros: very reliable and safe, very roomy. Cons: gas milage can be better. With that being said, I bought my Highlander after getting fed up with German cars and I'm happy with the change. No more sensor lights in the dashboard, no more headaches. Don't get me wrong, I miss the drivability and bells and whistles from my previous cars, but overall I'm happy to have a car that I don't have to worry about as far as reliability.

Great Dependable SUV

It's a smaller SUV but not too small. Has room for 6-7 people, if necessary. Lots of storage room. Great dependable vehicle.

Solid vehicle

Hard to find a Toyota that is still clean, not all banged up and doesn't have a gazillion miles. Once found.........buy it.

My Highlander!

I bought this truck recently having traded 2007 Chrysler Pacifica touring. The handling of the highlander is not as firm as I would like it,but very reliable, rides smooth. Looks brand new. The leather seats are not as comfortable as I would like it. Luv the room and versatility of the truck. Would recommend!

Not as good as advertised

BEWARE of the issues with the auto open/close mechanism on the rear hatch. Purchased ours new from dealership with extended warranty. 3 years later the arm of the auto open/close mechanism broke loose from the hatch. Dealer said it was not covered by factory NOR extended warranty. Fought with them for several days and finally were told they'd do a "goodwill" repair. Just over a year later, same issue happened again. Went through same run around from dealership but they are refusing to do anything about it. Quick online search will bring up article about class action suit vs. Toyota in CA over rear hatch issues. Toyota issued a service bulleting to dealerships about it. Local dealership is deflecting any responsibility, told us to call Toyota Corp. Closing rear hatch manually takes some effort and you make sure you're ok doing it manually before purchasing this vehicle.

Toyota Fan

Toyota does it again with a great SUV. Great vehicle used for family vacations and fishing. Only lesson learned is that I would have purchased the 4WD or AWD version along with an upgraded version (purchased used). Towing capacity is outstanding!

2nd Highlander

Recently I purchased my 2nd Highlander. I traded my 2003 Highlander Limited for a 2011 Limited. I have driven other makes but always came back to my favorite Toyota! I was pushing 200k miles on the 2003. So now I have a newer one with many upgraded features. My husband and I also purchased a 2013 Tundra earlier this year to replaced his truck. We are very satisfied with both vehicles performance, reliability, comfort and looks. We have purchased all 3 at Rogers Toyota in Lewiston Idaho. Jack Tousley did an awesome job working with us and meeting our needs. The customer service is exceptional.

After 3 years no complaints

I bought my 2011 Highlander three years ago and have 45000 miles on it. Only problem I have had have been tire punctures. My complaints are minor design things. I find the steering too sensitive. I'm not looking for play but I'd like turn the steering wheel a little more for little corrections. For me it is easy to oversteer the highlander, especially after driving my other car ...a Volvo. I have long legs and my right knee is often set against the center console, which is hard and painful. The bluetooth for my cell phone is okay in the car, but the audio is scratchy for those on the other end of the call. I can configure more than one bluetooth phone, but the radio doesn't switch automatically between them. I have to manually select one or the other for use. I would also put the speedometer in the middle of the instrument panel vice to one side. I did complain at dealer service department that speedometer reads 2.5 to 3 miles per hour to high. They said it was within tolerances and would not adjust. I really dislike the inaccuracy of the speedometer and often use my GPS for speed.

Toyota Highlander 2010 (bad year for Toyota)

We were excited to buy our first Toyota after our Honda Pilot moved on with our daughter for college. We decided on the purchase from recommendations. What a shame. We cannot wait to sell this to someone so we can go back to buying Hondas. Maybe just a bad year for Toyota but we are never going to buy a Toyota again. I would put this vehicle on the same quality level as Dodge and GM.
