Best 3-row SUV with bells and whistles
Previously owned a RAV4 and needed a bigger vehicle to haul kids around that is not a minivan. Didn't like the CVT transmission on Infinitis and CRVs. Test drove BMW X5 and MB Ml350 but didn't want to pay premium gas throughout the life of the car, so honed in on the Highlander. If you want the bells and whistles that come in luxury SUVs, just go with the Limited Platinum trim and you won't miss anything. Was partial to the X5 but we cant ignore the fact that 3rd row seating has a lot more room in the Highlander than in the X5. If you want reliability with comfort in driving and ample room for kids, this is the SUV for you!

Nice car/lousy naviation system
Generally it's very comfortable, drives nicely. The mileage is poorer than I expected. The navigation system is awful. Voice recognition is very poor, even after repeatedly using the "learn' mode to setup. After having driven a Ford Escape, I feel like I'm sitting in a hole; it is a bit lower to the ground. The Toyota is much quieter, however.

Too early to tell reliability
Have only had it for two weeks, but so far we like it very much. We took it to our local auto repair facility and the manager had high praise for our new vehicle.

Comfort & Reliability
Outstanding performance and comfort. Quiet ride and great handling. 23 MPG on highway and 20 MPG local roads. Very roomy inside. Enough USB and AC outlets for phones and games. No issues with vehicle at all.

Best Car I have owned
The car has been great. I have almost 64000 miles on the car and can foresee many more before trading off. The extra row of seating is amazingly comfortable. I have had very few problems with this car.

Best Car I have owned
I didn't really plan on getting a Toyota as I have generally driven Ford products but I am glad I traded for a Toyota.

High on my Highlander
Had a 1999 Sienna. Sold it to a friend and bought a 2006 Sienna. Sold it to the same friend and bought the 2014 Highlander XLE. Liked my vans - love the Highlander. Very solid on the road; comfortable; plenty HP from the V-6; great sound and navigation system. Love the hands free blue-tooth phone feature. 36000 trouble free miles. Tires still have over half of original tread. Interstate mileage comes in at 25 - 27 mpg. If wind noise bothers you - turn up the radio. Rear hatch window opens separate from the door. Great feature if you have a small bag or item to load. Highly recommend Toyota vehicles.

A great safety car!
My husband recently got into a terrible car accident in the Toyota Highlander. The car rolled down the hill on Highway 50 in Lake Tahoe due to black Ice. He was able to walk away with minor injuries. This is super safe car! We got another one after the accident, and will continue to keep one for life.
