My Truck

I have been driving a 2006 Toyota Tacoma for over a year now and I can say it is the best vehicle I have driven. Tough truck looks and small car like handling make this truck one of the best deals on the road. I can make a U-turn at an intersection without making a 3-pointer anymore. All the hidden cubbies and large interior space also make it a great family vehicle. Child saftey seat hooks were also a very important feature when choosing a new truck to purchase since I drive a toddler around everyday. Not much more I can say except Toyota has put out the example every car company should follow when producing a compact truck. Even though the Tacoma is quite large since its redesign in 2005. My Tacoma will be a part of my family for many years to come.

Good looking, fast, and so far reliable.

I was recently thinking of purchasing an SUV or another more expensive truck. But after analyzing my 2X4, four door, V6, preRunner SR5, Tacoma, I decided that I am quite happy with it. Speed acceleration is really nice. You barely touch the pedal and it flies. But nothing is perfect. One thing is that the rear tends to slide on wet surface when accelerating too fast. But considering that it's a 2X4, I guess that's normal. After adding a few sandbags it solved the problem. Another thing is the manufacturer needs to do a better job at painting it. It's not a major problem, but on a few occasions small spots of paint came off when shouldn't have. Other than that, I am extremely happy.

Buy one!

I bought an '05 TRD Sport double cab and I've been very impressed so far. It has great pickup and the gears shift well and without notice. Its a very solid pickup and the composite bed is great. For a truck, the doors close very quietly (some may not find that a big deal but if you garage it and your bedroom is upstairs, your wife will love it). I don't notice any road noise like the reviews state but I can see where the ride is somewhat stiff (but hey, its a truck!). I like the interior and the many, many cup holders it has. I guess the designer thought I'd need to hold a 12-pack (b/c it literally hold 11 drinks). Overall, its a great truck, good power, plentiful room, and reliable. Buy one!

My first truck

I love this truck. I got the double cab and love the room. I love the way I can shift easily into the gears in the manual shifting. It picks up speed really fast and leaves others behind. It is really sporty looking. I would say my friends have "truck envy" when they see my truck. Even though it is manual, it still holds well on a hill without any back rolling.

4 X 4 Off Road Double Cab

After reading all of the expert reviews on this truck I expected a bumpy/stiff ride. However, every person who has ridden in my truck has said what a nice ride it is. Getting all of the safety features makes this truck an excellent option as a mid-size SUV, which my wife and children can ride in safely. I get about 18 cty-26 hwy MPG; however I drive conservatively, to save gas. The Tacoma also drove well in the snow. I actually pulled one of those full sized trucks out of the snow. They were very impressed with the power and traction that my truck had.

Perfect Size, well-executed design

Great interior, comfortable, perfect size for most, and respectable gas mileage. The V6 is refined and powerful. Build quality is very good. Good range of cab/bed size options; the quad cab makes for a good family vehicle. Too bad that a manual transmission is not offered with the PreRunner quad cab version as I am unimpressed with the 5-spd. automatic transmission which needs to shift smarter. As it is electronically-controlled, hopefully Toyota will re-program shift patterns and offer the new software to current owners to improve shifts. Ride is noticably harder with the TRD package.

Great truck just what we needed

I am going from a regular cab. I love this truck. It sounds dumb but I love the fact that I can put big drinks in my cup holders (64oz).I have only 2k on it but I like it a lot. engine power rocks

I am very happy with it.

I've had this truck for about 2 years now. When someone says it's under powered, my reply is "you're crazy", unless you bought the 4 cylinder. The acceleration is extremely good for a truck. It looks good. Over all I am quite happy.

4x2 Sport Series

I was looking to replace my 7 year old fully loaded Tundra with a reliable smaller truck. I had driven a 2004 Tacoma Pre-runner 6 cyl and found it embarrassingly under powered. So I was was quite surprised when I tried the 2006 version 2 years later. It was very responsive when the pedal was pushed hard and also a little easier on the pocketbook at the pump. It has all the bells and whistles my Tundra had except lighted cargo area and lighted vanity mirrors. I don't know about my wife but I can live without those extras. At a final price of 27.5K this Tacoma Sport Series truck was a little pricey compared to other small pickups in its class.. But quality always comes at a cost.Overall I feel that I made a wise choice by downsizing to a Tacoma. But only time will tell if it serves me as well as my Tundra.
