Good not Great
I purchased a Toyota Tacoma because I wanted a manual transmission. Tacomas are one of only 2 pickups offered with a manual, so it is slim pickings. I got the TRD Off Road Double Cab. The truck does everything I need it to and the manual is great. The let downs are in the ride and comfort areas. This truck rides like a tractor compared to most modern vehicles, yes even compared to other trucks. The gas mileage is mediocre at best for a modern vehicle, that being said it gets what it is rated for (I’ve averaged just over 18 mpg in the first 2000 miles). The back seats even in the double cab are almost useless for carrying people, this doesn’t bother me, I only ever have dogs in the back. That being said, this truck ticked almost all of the boxes for me. If it was a bit more comfortable and got better gas mileage it would be even better. I had a 2019 Honda Ridgeline that I traded for the Tacoma. Honestly, the Ridgeline is a better vehicle (great gas mileage, super comfortable, plenty of space, better power...) but I missed having a manual and I hated having to turn around in the Ridgeline out exploring dirt roads in WY/CO when things got too rough. I have also had a 2016 Tacoma with the 6 speed auto, and would NEVER purchase another with that transmission. It really lets this truck down, gear hunts (refused to shift out of 4th gear) and still gets poor mpg, that truck was a terrible tow rig, even for small loads. It’s manual trans or bust with the Taco for me.

Sporty mid-size truck
Tacoma Off Road 4×4 is great all around fun vehicle. It's the Swiss Army knive of pickups. Toyota uses the same V6 in all models offering a V6. They need tune them for each model. In stock trim its buzzy. The 6 speed auto also needs reprogramming. Lots of performance left on the table. One can re-map the computer. THEN you end up with a great vehicle.

Love this Truck!
I’m a retired senior and have wanted a pickup truck for many years. During my working years it Corporate Finance and IT, a truck just didn’t fit my commuting requirements or needs. Now that I have more time to “play” and do things around the house, it was time to buy myself a truck. After much research on midsize trucks (i.e. Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado, Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma), I ultimately decided on my new 2021 Toyota Tacoma SR5 with the V6. While certainly not the least expensive, well worth every $$,$$$ for the Quality, Style and Performance!!! I absolutely love this truck and so does my wife. We have a beautiful, 2020 Lexus 350RX, but my wife wants to take the new truck on this year’s Summer vacation to Yellowstone ;o). She likes sitting up a bit higher and says it feels so solid and safe too. We plan on using it a lot this Summer to transport our e-bikes to some more further away trails. Trust me folks, if you’re looking for the best midsize PU Truck on the market, you will also love this truck.

This truck looks good, drives great and meets every expectation. I like the fact that it's not complicated to operate but still has enough technology to keep me happy.

Satisfied customer so far after 3 days ownership
Meets my needs. Many new features compared to my 10 year old Tacoma (Radio, phone capability, full back seat, access doors to the back seat). I do miss the extra one foot of carrying space in the truck bed.

TRD PRO trim worth the additional cost
It's reliable and does what I need it to do. It's comfortable enough to take on long trips, the interiors is nice enough that you're not afraid to let folks look inside your truck and it gets you through the woods (off-road) to where you need to be.
