I did not want to like it

A thousand mile rental, I did not want to like this thing but could not help it. Rental was base trim -- when was the last time you saw crank windows and manual door locks? These two "features" were the only problem I had with the tiny vehicle (lousy positioning) and you could "buy" your way up from here. I showed this puppy no mercy running it at high speeds (remember -- high speeds is a relative thing) through the desert heat and it never wimpered. Of Course, I need to mention that there were only two of us in the car. Total passenger and luggage weight ran close to 700 pounds but if you were trying to sqeeze two more people and their luggage in you would be searching for a roof rack since there is little room to spare. My 6'4" frame was easily accommodated. The 40 mpg was welcomed. Last year I did the same jaunt in a Cobalt and there is no comparison (I laughed to myself each time I passed one struggling through the mountains). Buy the bright red one so you can find it in the parking lot.

"It's a Toyota!"

I have had my 2007 Yaris for 8 months 22,000 miles and not one single problem. People, with gas at $4.00 a gallon in New York I am very pleased to be getting an honest 43.5 MPH!!! My around town is a solid 37 MPH!!! This is a much better value than a hybrid which costs many thousands more with minmal inproved mileage over my Yaris. Hurry and get yours before gas hits $5.00!!!!

41 MPG

I bought this car about 3 weeks ago. I loved it the second I sat in it. As far as MPG goes, my first tank got 36 mpg with mixed driving. I drove from Columbus, Ohio to Chicago this past weekend and got 32 mpg going up driving about 75 - 80 mph. Coming back I drove 60 mph the whole way and got 41 mpg. The moral is: if you want killer gas mileage out of this car, slow down. Great car, very pleased.

Little Guy Packs a Huge Punch !!

I am 6"2" tall and I have more room in this car than I did in my midsized Pontiac. Engineering is amazing. Purchased the Yaris S with ABS, side curtain airbags and automatic strictly for highway driving and it kicks butt. I actually traded in a Nissan Versa after 1000 miles (What a piece of junk!! see my Versa review) and could not be happier. Feels great, handles at the drop of a dime and feels tight on the highway. A little more pep off the line would be nice but to be honest with the solid mileage I am getting I would not make that trade. You can get an armrest for added comfort on Ebay for under 100 bucks. My wife thinks it is the ugliest thing on the planet which makes me like it even more..............

Nearly perfect

I am happy every time I get behind the wheel. We bought a loaded base sedan for a very reasonable price. It is solid, roomy, zips around town effortlessly, and does not look or feel like an economy car. The acceleration is among the best in the class, the auto transmission is smooth, the steering is quick and responsive. Excellent IIHS and NHTSA safety ratings with the side airbags. The front seats are very comfortable, and I can sit behind myself in the backseat without my knees touching the seatback (I'm 6 feet tall). Road and wind noise are low, so it is very quiet and relaxed on the highway. Decent sound system. Interior is stylish, unique, and has plenty of storage bins. The steering wheel is a bit too far from the driver, but I found this to be true on a few competitors as well. We did not buy this car on a whim; we researched other cars thoroughly and went on multiple test drives before deciding on the Yaris. This car is a great blend of refinement, function, value, and likeability. I would give this car a perfect score if only it were a 5 door hatchback or wagon. Professional car reviewers have judged the Yaris as if it were intended to be a sports sedan. We have found many of their complaints to be overstated. Test drive it for yourself.

The Best Car I Ever Owned.

I purchased a 2008 Yaris Sedan (Barcelona Red) on Oct 4, 2007. I loved the car the minute I saw the commercial and went to see it up close. It is adorable, but more then that it's gas mileage is incredable. It handles wonderful. It feels like a 6 cylinder vehicle instead of 4. It's comfortable, stylish and roomy despite it's size. I would reccommend this car to anyone who will listen. I am also the proud owner of an 05 Rav 4 (bought brand new like the Yaris). The Yaris was a good replacement for the Echo. I called that car a box with wheels, but I am glad they did not change the dash board. For anyone who thinks that it would be hard getting used to the instrument panel in the middle, forget it, it's just as easy. The problem is that you rarely see the car on a commercial anymore. With the price of gas you would think Toyota would push it a little more, but I guess they make more money on the Highlander which to me is a gas guzzler. I have always gave my cars nicknames and this one is no different. Because of her color and beauty I call her Rose. Thank you Toyota for making a wonderful car.

great

Great car for the money. I would like to see ABS brakes standard and some more features but overall this is a great "no problem" car.

Best Car For The Dollar

Best all around car, lots of power. Capable of pulling a small boat or utility trailer. Great on the highway and in the city. Unbelievable top end. Quick off the line, overall turning radius a little disappointing. Tons of creative storage.
