2017 Volkswagen Golf consumer reviews

I bought this 2017 VW Golf Wolfsburg Edition after a two-month search of small hatchbacks, including Ford Focus, Subaru Impreza and Mazda 3. The car had the best power, the best transmission and the most complete set of safety features (blind spot, rear camera and warning, autonomous emergency braking and more). Falcone gave me a great deal and the car has performed perfectly for 37K miles. Couldn't be happier!

Fun to drive, economical. VW checked all the boxes with this vehicle. I own a truck as well so it’s nice to be able to have an additional vehicle that’s great for driving around town.

Pros: -Exterior design is great, will age well. -Interior is the best in the class, very upscale compared to the competition. - Loads of modern tech and safety features. - Performance is great. A lot quicker than vw claims, handling is incredible too. - Very quiet cabin and the suspension absorbs all types of road bumps and imperfections. Cons (unreliable issues): - At 15k miles, sunroof began to leak water. Fixed under warranty. - At 20k miles, the plastic water pump cracked and began to slowly leak coolant. Fixed under warranty. - At 21k miles, terrible vibrations when applying brakes. Ended up being warped front rotors (at 21k miles!!!). Warranty does not cover and will charge a fortune to fix. Please, please get it replaced with an aftermarket rotor and install yourself or at a mechanic. - Interior has always had some type of rattling noise. Dealer resolved some, but not all the issues. Love the car so much, but please be aware of the Volkswagen reliability issues that may come down the line.

Fun to drive. Comfortable. Superb power and fuel efficiency. Average 35 mpg combined. 5 spd manual. Prefers mid-grade fuel...clutch a bit tricky, but less so on 89 octane. Have considered trading for new truck but trade-in offers were terrible. Hard to walk away from such a great car. Tons more power than 89 GTI I owned in UK.

Excellent - lots of features - very smooth with plenty of pickup. Comfy with lots of toy - plus a sun roof. I love it.

I love this car. I got a 2017 Golf SE after an 18 year break from driving. I was really nervous about parking, turning corners, hills, snow and lane changes. I've only driven 3 times in the last 18 years and needed a compact and really reliable car to feel safe on the road. The technology in this car was easy to get used to in a few days and things such as the back-up camera, steering wheel controls, and the tough screen panel made it all very easy for me. The size of the car makes it easy to park and change lanes and the torque makes it easy to handle all of the steep hills. I'm sure that the extra sport features will make for some fun driving experiences when I get more used to driving.

This car exceeds all my expectations! The extra features like the fog lights turning on to guide you threw a turn or the wipers starting because it?s raining or the rear wiper turning on because your backing up. I find new things everyday I love about this car.
