vdub dedicated
this is my 3rd vw - all 3 have been great. if people take care of their vehicles like their supposed to take care of their bodies, the vw's are wonderful long term cars. unlike asian imports the vw are SOLID cars like american cars used to be when they were still 99% american.

Love Hate Relationship
I love my car. I hate my car. When it works, it is the best car I've ever had. When it doesn't, I wish I had either of my Hondas back. The times when it doesn't work exceed what I can tolerate in a car. Perhaps the most frustrating thing is that the dealership service is horrid. I've tried for 2 years to find out what is wrong with my car. Now, I have problems with it starting nearly every day. They can't find out what is wrong. I would pay them to fix it, but they just can't diagnose it, nor will they even consider it a problem until I spend $500 to fix a "short in the door lock" that I never have a problem with. The car's electric is so complicated that few independent mechanics will deal with them ("you need to go to the dealer" is what is said). Apparently a lot of dealerships have problems fixing them. I've read this on internet forums all over the place, so it's not just my dealer service dept. I want another car, but I just can't bring myself to sell mine to someone else. If I thought it was reliable enough to sell to someone else, I would keep it myself. I really want to love my car.

My Little Jetta
Undoubtedly the cutest car I've ever owned...but the fun stops at it's looks. I bought my Jetta new off the lot and have had it in the shop on average every 3-6 months since(at least 30-35 times). This does not include minor repairs and maintenance - only the big stuff! Replacing bolts on the transmission/complete transmission, gear shift solenoid - it's been one problem after another. This is a great car....if you don't need to get anywhere on time, and if you like to spend your extra $$$$ on maintaining your car. Too bad because I really love the styling, comfort, etc. of this car. But trust me...save yourself the trouble!

Expect to Pay $$$$
I've owned my Jetta for 4 years now, it's a 4 cylinder GLS. During these four years I have put all new cylinders in my engine, new transmission, problems with the throttle body, sensors constantly misfiring and have replaced enough bulbs to equal more than $500. I wish I didn't have these problems because I truly loved this Jetta but unless you have thousands to spend...Don't Buy this Car!!!

I love this car!
I love this car. I bought it used for a reasonable price because it had high mileage. I haven't had any major trouble with it at all, except for minor things like belt changes that any car would need at a certain age and a little bit of trouble with the blinkers. Other than that, this car has been really easy to maintain. I would recommend that you buy a manual if you can, just because they are more fun, but I think that the Jetta is just a fun car in general. I would definitely recommend this car.

My 2000 Jetta
The car is now 7 years old. I have used it in all kinds of weather and have found it to be reliable and mostly good handling. Snow and slick roads pose a problem. The car is lite and doesn't always track well in the muck. Snow tires up front improve things inmeasurably. The lack of adjustment on the rear wheel alignment has us going through tires at a quick pace... 20,000-30,000 miles per set. 126,000 miles and we anticipate keeping it another 4-5 years. Overall a good car for the money!

Best First Car
I bought my daughter a 2000 Jetta as her first car and I am COMPLETELY satisfied with it. It's one of the safest cars out there and I don't worry as much as I would with another car. She loves it too! The cars has a great body style and is "adorable" as she always says. Maintainence has been minimal and inexpensive. I would without a doubt suggest this car to anyone who was interested. It is definitely the best bang for your buck!

The money pit
I thought I was buying a good car for my daughter to go off to college in. When She called me broke down in the middle of nowhere and four hours from home, I realized how wrong I was. The car has had fuses blow, water pump replaced, timimng belt, electric door locks dont work, cup holders broke, tail lights constantly burn out, burns oil, and the front air dam gets caught on the smallest of parking stops. I should have bought anoter Corolla.
