Jetta Sportwagon S

There aren't many wagons available in todays market unless you go to a prmium brand IE: Mercedes, Audi, Volvo, BMW, and we weren't looking for an SUV. I was lucky to find an 09 Jetta wagon with only 5,000 miles on it. It works great for my wife now that our minivan days are over. The only issues I have ( and I knew this going in) is gas mileage is a little weak considering a 2.5L engine. I would rather have had the TDI but didn't feel it was worth the extra $10,000 based on the miles we drive. The other issue is, for the price, items such as foglights, steering whell mounted radio controls and automatic headlights should be standard equipment. The car rides much bigger than it is and has good acceleration. Back seat passengers may find it a little cramped on long hauls. If you need room for 4 all the time, consider the Passat. All in all, I am quite happy with my purchase and would recommend a Jetta Wagon to others.

2009 Jetta TDI Sportwagen is awesome

There are not many cars in the same class with respect to mpg, cargo room, styling, comfort features and value. The new prius wagon aims for that, but a used TDI beats it on value. I drive a lot and did a lot of calculating to justify my purchase. After the purchase, I'm very satisfied. Note: the oil required is very pricey, ~$36/change just in oil at the best price, ~$100 at Jiffy-lube.

My Jetta Sportswagen

I looked and looked for a car that was "economical" and drove like my old 92 Crown Vic and this is the best of both of those worlds. I get great interstate gas mileage 30 mpg (I am really big on cruise control though). And when I want the car to get up and go it does. It is a very comfortable ride, I have done 4 road trips with it so far and loved it. One of the trips was with 5 adults and we all fit nicely and so did our luggage in the spacious hatch back. I love this car and am very happy with its performance, and it looks good for a station wagon!

2009 VW Jetta

Wanted a car that was safe and reliable for my middle daughter. Jetta was compared with Accord and Altima for styling and features. Great performance (almost too great!), fun to drive with responsive handling, great safety ratings and great gas mileage. Purchased the top of line version, so got goodies like leather seating, disc/satellite radio, sunroof, low-profile performance tires, and dual use transmition (automatic or "shift"). My daughter loves it, and so do I.

2009 Jetta SportWagen TDI

I've had my '09 Jetta SportWagen TDI for just over 2 years now, and have 65,000 miles on it. The only repair problem I have had was due to a computer problem that caused it not to start in cold weather, and which was fixed by reprogramming the computer (under warranty). According to the dealer, they had to make this fix on several TDIs. Other than that, it has been reliable. I love the mileage (I average over 40 mpg overall, and have reached 46 mpg on several tanks of gas). I also love the way diesels drive - the power is in the rpm range that I drive in, so it's available quickly. No need to downshift to accelerate. It's just the right size for me - ample interior space, great headroom (I'm 6'2"), but easy to park in a compact space. The stereo is good, road noise very moderate, and it handles well. I'm hoping it will last for 500,000 miles.

Most reliable car I've ever owned

I have 80K miles on my 2006 TDI and I've had to do NOTHING to it but change tires, oil, and wash. This has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. IF this thing ever dies, i'll buy another one.

diesels have power!

if you want POWER that the hybrids can't deliver with mpg that is comparable - go for a diesel jetta! mine gets from 36 in the city to 45 on the highway, and it hasn't even hit 25,000 miles yet (which is when the dealer says the diesel engine is 'broken in' - and mpg can go up to 50 mpg on the highway!). at the rate it's going now, i would believe it, and i drive 75 on the highway :) only down side with this car is that VW doesn't recommend running the 2009 model with 100% bio-diesel (though i know folks who have with perfect results). however, as i want to keep my warranty in place, i am only putting in B10 (10% biodiesel) at the moment. after the warranty is up i will increase the percent of biodiesel i am using. GO DIESEL's!

09 Jetta TDI

Got a great deal on this certified diesel Jetta and it is a great driving, very economical, fun to drive car. Can't say enough good things about the clean diesel and the 43MPG on the road is terrific. Quality seems excellent.
