I Love my Jetta

I researched this vehicle for about 6 months before test driving and then buying. For the money I spent, I feel I have got way more car than what I paid for. The design, options and features have really made this car a "best buy". I spoke to a salesman over the phone and told him exactly what I was looking for as far as colors and package options. Two weeks later I did a test drive and bought the Jetta I wanted. It was that Simple. I absolutely love this car. The first week I had the car, It was hard to sleep at night because I could not wait to get up in the morning to drive it to work. Anybody probably reading this would think I am a kid. But actually, I am a 48 year old lady who loves her NEW JETTA!!

6 months follow-up

I have been driving it for 6+ months and have put 12K+ miles. Overall, it had been good times to drive. Rides are quiet and smooth. Either it must be break-in well or I must be break-in with it, it feels much better than the beginning. The regular mode of the transmission is still feel lack of power when accelerates but one could switch to sports mode on-the-flight which is much more powerful. I had spent a trip back and forth to New York City, with most highway driving and AC off, it reached 34.6MPG. In NYC, the MPG is 25.6, which is impressive in fact. Braking is great, my relatives who drove it all immediately noticed the brake is very responsive. Driving in NYC involves frequent braking, so they have a much appreciation on vehicle's braking. One of my friend called me when I was on the road, he told me that the audio is very good even hear from phone, which I did not realized. Handling is also very good in street corners and it is quite easy to do parallel parking on NYC streets. However, I had also noticed a few more bad things: 1. the leatherette seat becomes hard in a long drive, my leg feel hurt after 3~5 hours ride, which I had never experience on other cars, 2. the door is hard to open from inside and easy to retract, especially when there is a hill. When it retracts, it retracts very fast and since the door is heavy, if you put your leg out, it may hurt your leg. So for those little guys and girls, this is the thing you really need to think of before you buy it. No car is perfect, the Jetta has been far above my expectation.

Disappointing Drive..Serious Buyers Regret

Bottom line, I prefer some performance over features. The drive is terrible. The steering is very light and floaty...reminds me of my grandmother's '76 LeSabre. The feel on the road is not great. Designed more for commuting than fun driving. It does not instill driver confidence. This drives nothing like the older models and I will be going back to an Audi ASAP. If you are looking for a decent ride to compete with a civic or corolla...great, you found your car. If your looking for some euro performance and a fun drive...keep on looking.

Great car - don't trust gas gauge though.

Have only owned Volvo since 1990. Went to VW dealer after looking at Passat online. Volvo had interior water leak and was stressing me out before purchase. Volvo also changed maint schedule, never had the timing belt changed, was looking to buy something new. Volvo stopped selling S40 in US, did not want a larger car. Passat way too big for me. Jetta felt right at home. Bought the 2.5 engine. Love the car. Interior nothing like Volvo, plastic dash, but... colour scheme nice. Toffee Brown with cornsilk interior and black, corn 2 tone. Love the pick up. Mileage wonderful - takes the reg unleaded, but get higher mileage on 89 or premium. Don't trust gas gauge. Digital gauge. Volvo had the point-hand gauge. Live in townhouse, park on slope. Car would not start this morning. Afraid I messed up injector. Put can gas in and started just fine. Think might be sold on VW for ext 20 years.

2013 Jetta

I bought a 2013 Jetta from Mattie VW in Fall River ma. What a hassle free experience. They gave me solid $ for my trade (2006 ford f150 stx w/ 127k miles) and I walked away paying a little more than 200$ a month for a brand new '13 Jetta. I have always been a Jetta fan I owned a 1986 Jetta GL in highschool (11 yrs ago) and a lot had changed since I last drive one. This car hugs the corners like a champ it has an aggressive look and sound even out of the 2.0L it sounds louder than I would have guessed. I bought the "S" model since I wanted my own pick of VW rims (i like detroits they put on the GTI) and have never been a fan of 5cyl vehicles (they just don't make sense 4-6-8-10-12 does) the only thing I wish the S offered is the turn signals in the side mirrors but I'm sure I can add aftermarkets or incorporate an SE's mirrors as soon as one hits the salvage yard. The overall feel of the vehicle is sporty enough to drive on the ave but sophisticated enough to drive to that big corporate meeting you have next week. With Jetta you get the best of both worlds. In my opinion the 2009-2010 editions were too bubbly and aimed for females the 2011-13 edition is more unisex giving all genders a chance to enjoy it. The only gripes I have is 1) the paint seems weak I have a chip in the paint after only 2k miles due to some early morning winter rock salt. Not a big fan of that. And 2) the gas pedal is located on the floor not hanging from above like the brake. Makes it hard to buy mats to go accommodate. I found a way but it was more difficult that it shoulda been. But for under 20,000 this car is awesome. Anyone wanting a nice vehicle with a slice of attitude should give it a test drive. VW has done a nice job with this one.

I actually had FUN purchasing my new GLI!

North Valley Volkswagen was not kidding when they told me they provide a relaxed buying experience! Aside from feeling relaxed about my purchase (I'm completely serious, I felt no pressure at all!), Tim, Charlie and the rest of the team went to work for me, made me an unbeatable deal and made the entire experience more fun that I could have imagined! I will reccommend North Valley Volkswagen to all my family and friends! I LOVE my new GLI and will definitely come to North Valley Volkswagen for all of my Volkswagen needs!

3 Months follow-up

I am giving a three months follow-up to my original post.I will keep updating at 6 months and 9 months and 1 year. Hopefully could help those who make Jetta on their shopping list. I had driven it for three months and put 5500 miles on it, and had done the free three months schedule check-up. No problem yet, this car is very well built. So I think next time when VW advertises "Get yourself some German engineering", should also add" and some Mexican manufacturing",this car was built in Mexico. Overall, I am quite satisfied with what I have and feel the money I paid for it worth. *The good: The car is well designed. Interior look very nice. Center panel are simple and easy to operate, buttons and knobs feel nice. Seats are comfortable. Most of my friends that had ride with me with car appreciate the interior, exterior design and the ride. Road riding is quiet. Rear seating is spacious and comfortable. I had one time seat at the rear seat while one of my friend test drove it. It feels very well. Brake is very good and braking is very well behaved. My commute route has a 55MPH speed limit road but has traffic light in the middle. Often I had to brake sharply and I usually were thrown towards the steer with my 2000 Honda Accord, with this Jetta, I hardly have such problem. *The bad: My only complain in addition to my previous Cons is the door need some effort to close tight. Often I had to try hard in second time in closing the door tight. Another annoy thing is the seat belt buckle-up warning is too sensitive. Things as light as a 3 pound laptop on front passenger seat will trigger the seat belt unbuckle warning alarm. The car has auto door lock feature when it is moving, and unlock when it is parked. Once a while, it kept lock and unlock for a while when I drove. I could not understand the design logic VW engineers on the raise-up center armrest. Why don't they make the center storage compartment larger so that"raise-up" the armrest at all time and hold more stuff as well? * The ugly: My average fuel efficiency I have so far is around 27.3~31 MPG, with usually 60~80% highway driving. Not bad, but for a sub-midsize sedan, it is disapointing. I could not see how the "German Engineering" achieve in this regard. A similar size BMW 3 achieve 33MPG , vs Jetta's 31 MPG on highway.

Love My Jetta - Finally

I had a 2012 Jetta TDI that was plagued with electrical issues. VW was unable to repair them, so eventually agreed to replace the car. However, it was the end of the 2012 model year, so I had to wait until the 2013 model came out. It was worth the wait. The diesel engine is pared with a 6-speed manual transmission. It is peppy and fuel efficient, getting an average 45 mpg and about 52 mpg on the highway. It is packed with features including bluetooth, SD card reader, Sirius, and my favorite - heated seats. Love this car!

so disapointed

Just bought my third Jetta. Less than a week later and it is in the shop. It decided it would not start and had to be towed to the dealer. They have no idea what could be wrong with it. I used to love jettas but now I am not so sure. A brand new car should NOT leave you stranded at the supermarket. That is why one buys new cars. So disappointed in what Volkswagen has become.

Changed my view on VW..in a good way!

I have always drove Toyotas &Hondas (they were junk!) My friend recomended me to go VW (in ardmore pa). I am on a limited budget & I took a chance (even tho I heard a rumor VWs r expensive to fix). Well.. I couldnt be more happier! This car is amazing & solid. No road noise, like my other cars & sharp looking! The carefree maitnence prog is great (only had the car since oct 2013). The people at Piazza VW are ALL great. Never been to a friendlier dealership in my life. I didnt feel they were trying to SELL me a car, just help me get what I need. Best decision I ever made, I got the perfect car at the best dealership! Thank u VW & Piazza!
